I think all I can really add at present is that the ending totally blew my socks off.

Unfortunately, they both ended up in my face....

Lemme guess...the socks were smelly, too?

Enough to leave me stunned and confused.

Had some fun playing multiplayer moments ago...and it occurred to me that all of the maps, places of the multiplayer will be abandoned after the Reapers are destroyed. That is really too bad because the landscapes like Noveria is so nice...well minus the Geth trying to kill us.

I guess we're kind of in danger here of just repeating ourselves. After all, there's only so many ways that one can address our concerns over the endings. However, I still feel that my main concern is with the choices that godchild presents Shep with and the total lack of any ability to question their validity.

Yes, as godchild states, the fact that Shep has made it this far 'entitles' them to a choice. In other words, you've passed a test.

But for me, the final test is the stance of true choice, where you transcend the situation further and show that you reject their so called test 'rewards' and demand to make your own choice.

At that stage, godchild should recognise that it and the Reapers are no longer a requirement for galactic stability, or for the true harmonious continuation of all advanced species.

Ergo...they commit suicide and leave the relays as a final gift to their 'inheritors'...

That would have worked for me and not required a major reworking of the ending build up.

Basically, Shepard should have made a fourth option, as we have come to expect and love of him.

This is a great post eloquently stating my issues withME3. After all I have invested only to be left confused and empty.

You'll have to forgive the simplistic nature of my letting off steam below. It's not meant to be a work of art, but simply an example of what I would have liked Shepard to have been given the option of vocalising in some manner, even if it isn't exactly as below.

Takes place after GodChild gives you the three choices:

---

Shepard: "You think so little of us, don't you. So very little that, even now, you just expect us to follow your directions. That we will just do what you want us to do."

(shakes head) "Well, I won't..."

"Your choices are invalid, because your logic is invalid. And you insult me and every living being in this galaxy by suggesting that we should consider them as viable."

"You say that organics will be wiped out at the hands of their own synthetic creations, and that you want to help organics survive by stopping them from reaching a level of advancement that will allow them to create synthetics. And yet, here you are, synthetics yourselves, killing organics. Don't you even see that you are enacting the very atrocity that you claim will befall us, by your own hands? You are the synthetics destroying organics. You are the ones who are a threat."

"You are the cycle of destruction."

"Are you so detached from reality that you don't even realise how flawed your argument is?"

"The Geth are synthetics. And yet, look at them... They are fighting side by side with 'organics' against you. What does that tell you, other than that you are wrong. Completely wrong."

"I have a synthetic life-form on my ship who is not only a fine colleague but also a trustworthy friend who would lay down her life for any of my crew. Like the Geth, she desires to understand organics. Not to fight them."

"How many times have you given any cycle to chance to prove they are capable of transcending the events that befell you? How many times have you confirmed that your logic was valid, and that your 'solution' was required?"

"Or did you just assume that it was and, regular as clockwork, just turn up and murder us in our trillions...?"

GodChild: "You make interesting points. But you are only here to make them because of our actions. Would you not agree?"

Shepard: "No, I do not agree. We are only here to make those points because we managed to survive long enough to do so. How many of the other trillions that you have murdered over hundreds of thousands of years could have made those same points. Did you ever give them a chance? Or did you just arrogantly assume that they would not do so..?"

GodChild: "We only wanted to stop the impending chaos of each cycle from coming to fruition. There was no malice involved in our actions."

Shepard: "No malice..? Who made the Geth attack organics...? Sovereign did. One of you. You started the whole conflict between organics and the Geth. And for what? Purely to justify your own unnecessary existence. You are simply a redundancy. A unnecessary blight, blinded by a warped broken logic, who's only real desire is to give validity to your own existence. And you have the arrogance to stand there and tell me that you're doing it for our own good?"

"You are an insult to real intelligence. An insult to every species you've ever destroyed. You are a worthless leftover that has no place or legitimate purpose in this galaxy."

"If you truly want to 'help' us, then just die. Die and leave us to our own choices. We will decide our own fates. We don't need you, and we never have.

GodChild: (pause) "So be it. The burden is now yours."

[GodChild vanishes and Citadel fires a pulse, which travels out-system, through the relay network, killing all Reapers]

Very simplistic, as I say. But I just wanted to get that off my chest.

Plus it bumps the thread too... :P

The indoctrination theory renders the whole movement useless, that's what's funny. Real ****storm is going to brew up when Bioware finally reveals that if you thought the endings were real, you got indoctrinated and the final boss fight went completely over your head.

It doesn't do anything of the sort, even though I'm an advocate of it. Irrespective of what the reality of the ending really is, the whole point is we want a better ending, whether that be a continuation of an 'indoctrination' or simply better choices.

Besides, any which way you cut it, Bioware are coming out of this one with a lot of egg on their faces. No matter what their plans or intentions were, it's done them no good publically.

I appreciate the bumps, y'all, but I know the mods have been on a bump spree lately...accompany bumps with some discussion, and that would be fantastic. :D

I might as well throw in my two cents on the Indoctrination theory. I guess it would make a good head canon to some, but that would also mean that Shepard gets Indoctrinated regardless. I'm not sure I like that idea...
