Now this thread... this guy at first you might think he was trying to debunk us but if you read past his deconstruction of our over generalisation he goes into what went wrong and just how bad it really is from a technical standpoint. He goes into the stylistic mistakes the writing did that caused us to have these grievences and explains them in detail. I strongly recommand people read his whole post.

Enjoy these threads and no... we are not alone. Hold the Line.

In the Game Informer April 2012 edition the editors posted on the Timeline a release date (april 25th, i believe) for more Darkhorse comics of Mass Effect. Particularly in regards to the aftermath of Shepard's Squadmates.
Would this information essentially brand the endings we have now as immutable?

I'm ashamed to admit I was thrilled to see a tutorial on how to set up the banner in a sig. I kinda blanked there!
Very good compilation of information... keep up the good work!

One caveat that may render our opinions moot.

Boy, I certainly hope not. And if they think they are going to fob people off with additional ending material in the form of comics, I think they will find that all rather painful, to be quite frank.

His style is a little agressive (Angry Joe is not just a name) and he does nitpick the game. Otherwise fun to watch if you like his style. I am very interested in his video that will be dedicated to just why the ending was bad. He does do a nice bit of facial reaction of playing the game at the start. I think... we all had that face too.
He still gives a good score, which I agree (bombing scores for the ending is unprofessional) but he does say it did hurt the score. Also he does feel if the ending was gimped deliberately just so it can be a DLC... it would be considered bad practice.

"You can't condemn an entire race on what could happen"
The Guardian condemns an entire galaxy over 9000 times based on what could happen...And Shepherd does not refute that point in any way.......

Whether or not that ends up good or bad remains to be seen.
From what Casey said before about polarizing the audience, it almost seems to hint that this whole truncated ending is some kind of a publicity thing.

Good job I've got plenty of books to read (not ME ones either)....
On that score, if anyone is interested in an intelligent hard sci-fi trilogy that also has machines (called Inhibitors) that wipe out galactic civilisations every time they achieve a certain level of technology, try 'Revelation Space', 'Redemption Ark' and 'Absolution Gap' by Alistair Reynolds. Written way before ME ever came onto the scene, and has a far better reason for them doing what they do...
To be honest, I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if Bioware weren't originally inspired, in part, by the concept of the Inhibitors. Except the Inhibitors are fundamentally way more scary than the Reapers...
Oh, and it pretty much starts out with an archeology team investigating the ruins of an ancient civilisation, and trying to work out what catastrophic event caused them to just cease to exist.
Gosh, that doesn't sound familiar at all...

Keep up the good fight, people. The more we compile a list of articles agreeing with our point of view, the more we can support them, and, correspondingly, the more people will be encouraged to write about this.
Keep the pressure on.
