I truly hope that the concerns posted in this thread are taken into account, although I won't complain if a positive ending comes about. I will admit I would appreciate an ending that is more of a reward for Shepard.

After Muzyka's response I think it's very important that we politely remind them that a simple content update containing explanations of the current endings and a little bit of closure on our decisions isn't exactly what we're hoping for.
Again, it's nice that he responded but there are so many things about what was said and how he worded it that worries me. We have no victory yet.
This is probably my biggest fear; no additional endings, just an explanation of the current ones like I am a 4 year old. If this is the route they are considering than I wonder if Bioware really does care about the feedback from their fans or if that just isn't more hype. They must work to earn my trust again.

Yeah, it'll just show that they weren't really listening.

Let me share a story:
I was in Blockbuster(december 2010) going to buy Fable 3, while I was lookin for it I saw Dragon Age Origins:Ultimate Edition as well as Fable 3. I really wanted F3 at that point but I noticed all the DLC was in DOAUE and it was cheaper by £5.
So I went with DOA, before I bought it I only saw my brother play it for 10 minutes, in my mind I was taking a gamble because I sort of knew what to expect with Fable and not with DA since I had only seen a bit of it.
I started my first playthrough, I played a city born elf rogue making mostly morally questionable choices( such as killing Wynne and co at Morrigan's request, killing the dalish elves, siding with Branka and defiling Andraste's ashes) you've proably guessed at this point that I romanced Morrigan( I didn't find Leliana on my first playthrough). I got up to the final boss fight with the Archdemon, hardly any health potions, no healing spells for Morrigan and no ranged weapons at all. So yeah, I was screwed so I had to start again.
My next playthrough was the completely opposite female human noble taking all the goody two shoes options. This time I finished the game( I didn't take the dark ritual) and sacrificed my character.
After that when the funeral scene and epilogue went by and I saw the credits rolling and all of the names of the people that created that awesome game. There was one thought in my head:
That was worth it!
I came out feeling triumphant and satisfied beyond all measure, thinking I am proud of all those hours I poured into the game becuase my character's sacrifice was ultimately worth it.
Mass effect 3 on the other hand I sat there watching the credits rolling( thank you by the way to all those who did create ME3) thinking:
What was the point?
I was expecting to finish ME3 seeing what impact and consequences my choices would make on the galaxy after the war with the reapers( whether Shepard lived or died). In the end I just thought all those hours I put into the first two games were pointless and a waste of time.
I have a serious question not just to Bioware but everyone:
If you were a developer would you rather someone finish your game feeling that all the time they put into was ultimately worth it?
Obviously not everyone is dissatisfed with the ending/lack of closure and to them I say more power to you.
I am sorry if I appear spiteful but the destination is just as important as the journey.
Have a wonderful day everyone.
This is a good point. My natural inclination is to want a happy ending where I survive, but in reality I sacrificed my warden in DAO. I romanced leliana, did mostly good choices, and in the end I decided the good choice was to sacrifice myself for the good of the characters I had become attached to.
When the epilogue and credits rolled, I felt satisfied.
There was no such feeling in ME3. I felt drained, empty, and confused.
I hope bioware listen to all the points raised in the OP.

I hope they recognize the magnitudeof the situation. Most people were upset not because they didn't get a happy ending, but a plothole-ridden, lorebreaking ten minutes, that were just shallow to the rest of the game.
Its not about adding a few epilogues tweaks here and there, or adding the happy ending option (though i wouldn't object, but thats a personal opinion). Its
1. Live up tp premade promises
2. No massive plotholes
3. No violation of game lore
4. and let the ending be of the same quality as the rest of the game was.

Apparently IGN thinks we've 'stopped.' Let's show them they're wrong. Hold the line!

Agreed. I saw a list of "non-negotiable" items, and that list is pretty much what I saw. BioWare needs to know that to us, we won't be happy until all "non-negotiable" items are addressed. They will just keep garnering more ire otherwise.
IGN can think we're done all they want, but it'll just make them look silly because we are so not done. Lol.

Made this thread to give a summary of all we want, didn't realize someone already made something kinda similar. Well, anyway, maybe you could add it to your first post (someone asked me to ask this).

It can't hurt to have more! BioWare needs to see we all have the same problems with the endings.

luckily someone's already revamped the PR thread so that can remain stand alone unless you also want to link to that thread from here somehow . I like the organization so far
We'll keep that discussion separate for now. I'll definitely be lurking in that one, too, to see how all of that side of things is playing out.
Thanks! I wish I could say the rest of my life is this organized. Lol.

He doesn't say anything that hasn't really been said before but he wishes Bioware luck if they decide to try and sort out the ending which I totally agree with. They're going to have their hands full if they think they can satisfy everyone.

Shamus Young talks about many of the reasons why the ending to ME3 was awful. If this has already been linked, apologies. I did Ctrl+F on the first page, and his name didn't show up. It's a good article and worth reading.

OH, this is good. This is very good.
"The ending has RUINED this series FOREVER!" Lol. I love it.

I really despise these endings, and on so many levels. Emotional, intellectual, and even when drunk and feeling metaphysical.

No my friend and I did the drunk test of the ending 3 nights ago.... Marauder Shield actually killed us twice. We then tried to reach an epiphany about it all but it ended with us just going, "okay... this stuff is even worst when drunk."CDRSkyShepard wrote...

Also, we have a drinking game. Take a shot when there is a plothole with the franchise as a whole, two shot if the plothole violates the logic established within the 3rd game only, a third if the plothole contridicts itself through the ending sequence only. We discovered that... the whole Joker Normandy scene results in us unable to fill up the shots fast enough.

The entire point of the Retake Mass Effect movement isn't to get a happy ending it's to get somethting that resembles an actual logically advanced ending in place for the series.cjmerlin wrote...
With the announcement of a ending remake you have to wonder will it simply be the "happy" ending many are complainig for, or will it address some of the issues pointed out on this thread.
I truly hope that the concerns posted in this thread are taken into account, although I won't complain if a positive ending comes about. I will admit I would appreciate an ending that is more of a reward for Shepard.
Having a happy ending shouldn't even be a point or topic of consideration for Bioware since that isn't what the whole point of the past 2 weeks cry fest has been about.

Last I heard, that comment was deleted and replaced by something along the lines of "Something coming...in April."
Sounds better, but I'm still very skeptical.
@Madecologist - That sounds like a great drinking game. I might have to take that one up. XD
Have courage, friends. If BioWare decides to let the franchise die, it won't be our faut. We can safely say we fought them tooth and nail to the bitter end. Hopefully they'll realize that any future profitability from the Mass Effect name hinges on this very issue, and they'll come to their senses. We just have to keep pushing.
