Hey guys, a friend pointed me to this blog post: http://jmstevenson.w...-mass-effect-3/

It outlines the hero's journey, how ME1 and ME2 fit into the hero's journey, and how ME3 kind of falls flat on its face. It also talks about how important the ending to a story is, and why messing up the ending makes everything before it trivial. I love it, it's a great read...and yes, I'm putting it in the OP under "Blogs."

Edit: I found the LotR funny! Have a laugh:

I've been compiling some notes as to what to work into the OP, content-wise. Hopefully I'll be done doing edits by tomorrow evening! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Hey, I remember earlier in the thread you were wondering how to organize the articles. I thought you could do it in chronological order. That way it would give a sense of how certain media reacted initially and then how perceptions changed over time.

You could also organize it in the obvious way, ie Pro-Cause, Balanced, and Anti-Cause.

I'm probably gonna go with the latter suggestion. People can read the dates on the articles if they want to know chronology. It would get a bit too messy trying to do it chronologically...though I was sorely tempted to find a way to make it work. The compromise is that multiple articles from the same news outlet (Forbes being a prime example) are in more or less chronological order.

How ME3 Should of ended.

See if you can catch the references in Miranda and Vega's endings.

EDIT: This one is mostly the same but includes Ashley instead, also has Javik

www.youtube.com/watch

Reviewing those videos I'd say they have fewer plotholes than the actual endings. Which is sad.

Hey guys! Just a heads up, I found this...it's from a few days ago, but it's important news! Apparently there's a bug going around about fake ending DLC, check the article:

This fits perfectly!:wizard:

Imagine Frodo, dangling the One Ring, over the fiery chasm of Mt. Doom. He turns, and says, “The Ring is Mine!” and slips the One Ring onto his finger.Suddenly he’s whisked into a universe contained inside the One Ring, an entire world trapped in the essence of the ring. He meets the Keeper of the Ring, an ethereal spirit who has dwelled within the ring since its creation and now Frodo must make the ultimate sacrifice. He has to become the ring, in order to destroy it.How many people in the theater, watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy, would have stood up and said: “What the **** is this ****?”

I think a happy ending should have been possible--even if you think it makes the most sense for Shepard to sacrifice himself (and I definitely can see that), it isn't really a sacrifice unless there's the option to survive. If nothing's given up, then nothing's sacrificed.

I'd also post this link in the plot holes section:
https://docs.google....&sle=true&pli=1

It adds the indoc theory at the end, but if that isn't the direction that BW goes, they've got a lot of plotholes to fill.

Woah, big OP. Bumping this and subscribing.

Also copy/pasting group of links. Yes I am aware that several are already in the OP, but on the off chance a few are not, here they are (I don't have time to check each link against the OP because I have work early in the morning and must sleep immediately; only just found this thread a minute ago).

Mighty_BOB, I'll take a look at those in the morning, as well. XD

I didn't get to everything I wanted to today, but I got some new articles in, and some links as well. I hope everyone had a pleasant weekend...off to the daily grind again.

Hey, would there be any possibility of getting some of the information off of this first post from a 400 page locked thread?

http://social.biowar...4349/1#10084349

there was A LOT of good information on it.

This thread nor my OP aren't going to even touch the PR stuff. I think it's a discussion that needs to be had, but it's too dangerous to have on the BSN right now, especially in the threads. I made this thread to compile information and for people to discuss the endings, not PR tactics. We can discuss what BioWare has been telling us, but not in an analyzing kind of way. We can discuss what we think or feel like they're trying to accomplish, but not "yes, XYZ is going on, this must be it." You know what I mean?

Edit: There are some other links there, as well, and I have most of them. The few I don't have I'll be adding soon.

We need to keep the movement strong, and getting threads locked isn't going to help us at all.

Hey, I said some of the information, I didn't say all of it.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE: This OP is under construction. It should be fully edited and pretty by the weekend!

By now, everyone on this forum has a position regarding the endings to Mass Effect 3, and thus the entire trilogy we have all come to know and love. Some are outraged, some are satisfied, but there is a vast population in between who are just disappointed.

Brilliant!!  Thanks so much for collating this.

I'm afraid I don't have time to read the whole thread, so I'm not sure if anyone has said this yet, but ... Another problem with the God/Ghost-Child's reasoning that "created will always turn on creators" is that in the only example we have of this in the series (geth vs quarians), we see that the quarians were actually the ones who turned on their creations.  And one of the final missions in ME3 takes great pains to reveal this to Shepard.

So nevermind that Shepard just made peace between the two, s/he also proved that the creator started it all.  Another God/Ghost-Child fail.

[Edit: fixed a typo.]

Awesome thread, summarizing every wrong points of this ending.
We tend to forget the flashback thing, but I have to admit it bugs me as well, its supposed to be a powerful moment, but we can't get our LI or our bro Garrus into it? Bioware... Why did you not make more flashbacks, not like it would have been a hard thing to do.

Anyway, I totally approve this.
