It's really tough to narrow down. The interaction process I think has heavy weight in regards to specific events like how Cortez can die if you don't become buddy buddy with him. That doesn't mean he's going to step out of the Normandy, though. The only way he steps out is if you romance him... and Traynor and Cortez are kind of finicky in that regard.  But the ones who have had one of the two step out, have always romanced them.  If you didn't... they don't step out.

As far as other LIs (Tali, Garrus, Liara, Ashley/Kaidan) not stepping out, would you possibly have some examples from the thread? So far, the ones I've seen have had their LI step out (assuming they are Normandy crew) and are alive.  This was intentional on Bioware's part, as I suppose it was meant to instill "hope" in the player.

And again, as I mentioned before.. LI's like Miranda, Jacob, and Jack do not step out because they are not part of the Normandy crew.

Okay,  I shot the kid in his dumb face, but the one time I did choose something, I chose synthesis, because I didn't want to murder the Geth who had just become truly individual sentients.

Out of the Normandy stepped Joker (okay), EDI (ehh... she was with me in the final mission in London) and Ashley (who was my LI and was ALSO WITH ME IN LONDON).


I expect that once Bioware "clarifies" things, the only person stepping out of the Normandy will be Mac Walters, and he'll go "LOL. U MAD, BRO?"

Picked Destroy ending with Javik and Garrus in my party during the final push. Liara and Javik exited the Normandy, Liara was my LI. (obviously I had Javik unlocked )

Are you sure you picked Destroy?  I made the mistake earlier in the thread, because I had the Destroy option on my mind while quickly typing a reply out (I picked Synthesis).  EDI shouldn't have survived if you picked red, but if you did, more info on your choices would be awesome.

Done with my 2nd playthrough.
I choose Destroy this time.
Had 7k EMS, so I got to see Shepard breathing(I played mp).
Joker came out first. Then Treynor(LI in ME3 of course, had Kelly in ME2). Then Javik came out(to my surprise, thought it would be Garrus).

I did Synthesis on my first playthrough:
I had Javik and Garrus with me in the end game then too.
Liara as LI.
Joker+EDI came out first, and then Liara. Don`t think anyone else came out after Liara.

-Ash and Garrus
-Ash (Romanced in ME1, stayed loyal in ME2, completed in ME3)
-Had Javik
Joker came out first, Ash second and Javik third

I picked Destroy ending and had an EMS of 7600 with a GR of 100%. Kaidan and Javik were in my party and Kaidan (LI) and Javik walked out of the Normandy. Since I only played it once, I assumed it was whoever was with you for the final battle that appears on Jungle Paradise Planet. Which, of course, made no sense.

I made a thread about this a while ago, asking exactly the same thing. Turns out there's a bug somewhere in Javik's dialogue that sets his 'approval' score higher than anyone else that isn't an LI (and sometimes even higher than that). As a result, he's the one chosen to come out.
