Bioware respond about the endings

-----------------------------------------------------
http://www.digitaltr...-controversies/

What are your thoughts on the reaction to the game’s endings?
I didn’t want the game to be forgettable, and even right down to the
sort of polarizing reaction that the ends have had with people–debating
what the endings mean and what’s going to happen next, and what
situation are the characters left in. That to me is part of what’s
exciting about this story.
There has always been a little bit of mystery
there and a little bit of interpretation, and it’s a story that people
can talk about after the fact.
---------------------------------------------------------

I'm glad they stood up to defend their epic ending and i totaly agree with them

If you someone didn't see everything they have no rights to complain

Here is a video of all endings+2 secret endings in case some didn't see them i guess.

The rage of many people started before they even played the game, some even since they read the leaked script ages ago, what do you prefer as an ending? the Hey we did active the machine/it shoots lasers/all reapers died/we win boring ending #14543343 that million movie/game did before?

Honestly i love the endings ! there is also a mystery about it, why shepard is alive in one of them?
I have no problem with happy endings but no developer should be forced to create boring happy ending #25465

I'm a huge fan so bioware keep it up :) even if the ending sucked (It didn't) almost everyone does agree that ME3 is the best mass effect and they don't deserve all the bashing

Will await any future DLC, DAY1 for me from the best developers in the world bioware

---------------------------------------------------------------
Here is some support from other fans in this thread, i hope bioware understand that many people like the endings but fear voicing their opinions because some loud voices will tear anyone apart who says they like the endings :)

the endings are totally epic

TOTALLY AWESOME!

I agree with the poster. The endings are epic. Especially the one where Shepard lives.
.

And a very important note here where people really need to pay attention to

I don't think Video Games stories, or
really any stories should be written just to appease the consumer. Then
we just get the same stories and formulas used over and over
again...justified because it's what the people want.

No, the endings are awful and both a logical and emotional disconnect from the rest of the trilogy.

Nevermind the fact that they invalidate EVERY SINGLE CHOICE made across all three games.

I don't want a happy ending, I want an ending with ****ing closure, without monstrous plot holes.

Oh look, another post about how people only hate the ending because it's not happy.

I sure am glad it had nothing to do with lack of closure, huge plot holes, and a complete change in theme and tone. Otherwise you'd look pretty silly right now.

That's the problem with the damn ending, this is the conclusion to a trilogy, it's suppose to answer everything not create new questions to leave up in the air for God knows how long.

Why are you so happy with the fact that Shepard became Saren?

Did you like Saren? Did you think he was right? If you did, fair enough. But I'm curious.

I want an ending that makes some ****ing sense. That is all. These endings are illogical in every way and negate all of your prior choices.

Tell me.

HOW THE **** IS THAT A GOOD THING?

"boring ending #randomnumber" is a gross mis-statement. people like happy endings. we want hope, we want a future for our hero. look at any of the best stories, Lord of The Rings, Star Wars, The Sword of Truth...etc etc. the best ending for ANY story is "protagonist defeats antagonist, protagonist gets girl" its a feeling of triumph of victory of conquest, the protagonist going against all odds and winning. we like to feel that. the majority of humans don't want a pessimists ending...

War assets want to talk with you, if you did everything wrong in ME1/ME2 you wont get enough support and the earth will be burned, what you did in me1/me2 matters you saved the earth

Educate yourself on a topic before making a post, it works better that way.

Look, I am fine with Shepard dying, the Earth getting destroyed and the relays getting destroyed as well. Sure, a happier ending would be nice, but that is not the point. The point is closure. Simple as that. I don't want these ending that raise more questions.

If you like the endings so be it. We most players are not satisfied with these plot holes, logic flaws and contrived stories. We don't want a happier ending but a ending makes sense. And it would be even better to reflect all decisions made in ME1 and 2. Please go through all our discussions and see if you can stick to you thought.

I don't think anyone is advocating "The Reapers die, Shepard and the galaxy are victorious, the Normandy crew retire to drink pina coladas, and write memoirs on a beach". What people which aren't riddled with plot holes, inconsistent with the established theme of the franchise, has an actual conclusion and factors in your past accomplishments or failings. Right now we're sorely lacking those endings and that needs to be addressed.

I'm not expecting them to change the endings(after all, they're the artists and it's their vision for better or worse) but I do demand a damn good/detailed explanation from the development team as to why they went with these fatuous and ridiculous endings.

Seph, I took the liberty of writing this, in the hopes you are at least vaguely familiar with the Star Wars Original Trilogy.

Here's why we hate the endings - if the endings were Star Wars:

After the Emperor is killed, Luke passes out and is teleported to the surface of the Death Star. There, the blue ghost of one of the Jawas who was killed at the start of Episode IV explains to you that the Empire was founded on the principle of keeping droids of of cantinas, and that droids will inevitably enter cantinas, so the Death Star was built to destroy all cantinas. The jawa then presents Luke with three options: Blow up the Death Star, Destroy All Droids, or to Let Droids into Cantinas.

We don't hate them because Shepard dies, and they're not happy. We hate them because some writer pulled them out of his ass at the last minute, and they make no sense with respect to the series as a whole.

Seph22, war assets don't really matter, as the endings are always the same. There is no "reapers win and destroy everything" ending...

Why do people keep missing the goddamn point? It isn't about getting a "happy ending." The current endings make no sense, there are plot holes (the Normandy sequence for one), and everything you've done makes no difference. We were promised our actions would have different outcomes on the endings and we didn't get that, we simply got generic "pick red, blue, or green" endings no matter what we did with very little difference in the final scenes.

Citadel go boom.
Earth burned anyway in 2/3 endings.
Earth cut off from ALL potential support which it will need to recover in all endings.

Your war assets mean NOTHING.

No I don't want a happy ending... I expected my shepard to die at the end. I want an ending that 1. makes sense, 2. closes the game and shows what happened because of my actions 3. Gives me more choices and endings that do not destroy the universe. 4. shepard to not give up like he did and be totally out of character. He gave up to easy. Shepard should have seen through God child's logic.

Too many holes. I'm accepting of a dark ending but there was no closure. My opinion on the endings formed after I finished the game. I stayed away from the forums to have no spoilers until I was done. I was completely shocked and depressed by the endings, all of them.
