The mass effect universe itself has always been one of my favorite parts of the series. The lore, the politics, the technlogy, heck I'd even play SimCitidel if it existed (Btut don't get any ideas Bioware
There are so many cool things that were hinted on throughout the trilogy that never got filled in however.
In particular I hope Bioware's future plans with the franchise explore in not particular order:
- Salarian Biotics. They are mentioned a bit in the codex, but I don't think we've ever seen one in game.
- Infromation about the other civilizations that lived in the cycles before the protheans. I know Javik mentions the ones from the cycle before his breifly. Even stating that the base at Illos was built upon ancirent runes from before the protheans.
- More about that AI that the Protheans battled in their cycle.
- Developement of Mass Relay tech. I know the Protheans were damn close. There must have been at least one civ that figured it out fully.
- Origin of the keepers.
- Origin of the Catalyst and the Reapers.
- More about the Dark Energy plot line, such as the system where Haestrom's sun was aging prematurly. (I know some there is a rumour that this was a plot being written by Drew, the original lead writer before he left the project, and that it died with him.)
- How the illusive man made it onto the Citidel at the end of ME3. Was there perhaps another illos style conduit that he discovered, or maybe he was hiding on the citidel all game. We did never see him in person till the end.
- In fact, I'd love to hear more about the Illusive man's original plan, and exactly how he thought it would work out.
- Resolution to any loose ends with Shepard's Love interest. I found it really sad how my Shepard never got his chance to ever resolve things with Miranda. Throught the ending dialog, I kept hushing her when she tried to say her goodbyes, telling her we'd have time to be together when this was all over, and promising her that I'd be comming back. It felt pretty damn sad, but earily real, that that optimism wasn't enough to make it true. Still would love to see her reaction to it all in the end, or even just some shepard voice over, talking about all the things he never got to do, and how life isn't fair.
- For that matter, how thigns turn out with all the squad mates.
- How things are galatic civilisation wise once thigns setle down, without the mass relays. I never got the feeling that bioware intended it to be as bleak as many are making it out to be, with all the fleets dieing on earth from lack of resources. I feel like they had a different conclusion, and didn't realize that the way they presented it leads to this conclusion.
- What happened in the protheans cycle at the end of their war. How close did they get to finishing the crucible, and what stopped them.
- What was so special about this cycle that let us be the first to succeed? Was the sabatoge from Illos enough to push us over the edge alone? If the balance was that fragile, how come we were the first?
