In all honesty I fail to see how a conversation point involving Shepard having kids and how proud they would be changes anything with the endings or that game?Renjin wrote...
Extended Anderson talk from the end of the game. I wish they had kept this whole thing in the game. Or added it in as a NG+ feature.
Tear Jerker Incoming (FemShep)
Tear Jerker Incoming (BroShep)
Anyone saying they got this in game is either mixing it up with the short version, or trolling. This was cut, and that is proven in the "Making of" app that was released.
Edit: Updated for BroShep.
Really it's irelevent conversation.

Father to son on their deathbed (I know no family). It was perfect! Perfect delivery for both versions. Spot on...
Why would they cut that last tidbit about family. It brought both characters so much closer together...

How? You take out the part about Shepard having kids and it's almost exactly whats in the game ..............Nostradamoose wrote...
Seriously, this would have been the high of the trilogy.

I don't see how it can be left field since all that screen time with that kid for Shepard made me think Shepard was thinking about settling down.Laughing Man wrote...
I see why they cut it (I don't buy the stories of the people saying they got this in game), I'm not sure if I agree with their thinking or not but I get it.
They cut everything regarding Shep settling down and having a family, and kept the meat of the rest of the exchange. The whole idea of Shepard with a family never really gets raised or discussed at any point in the rest of the Trilogy, so it does come a little out of left field right there. However, I can also say that its times like that, when everything's gone to hell and you reflect on how you got there, that you start thinking things like this.
So while I understand their decision to cut the conversation down, I think it would have worked great if they'd kept it in.

Well the slight extension gives it a lot more meaning seriously.Opsrbest wrote...

Both of them could just die there and I'd be happy at this point

You guys know that this is in the game right? It only happens if you didn't romance anyone.
I heard claims of this but no proof surfaced. Has some? I mean i always thought this was a great conversation regardless of relationship status.
edit: realized due to internet not having conversations come across correct, im not asking to be a dbag, im actually curious if some has.

I haven't seen any proof online per se apart from a comment about it, but it is plausible and makes sense. Just make a playthrough and don't romance anyone. I wish I did have proof. I'll look for some and if I find it I'll post/link it.Quietness wrote...

good luck =/ ive scoured cause i wanted to see this whole scene animated, it just seems beyond me for only non-romance considering Anderson had a long time relationship (it seemed) just no kids(lol retcon)

So this sad bit we all love got cut and the "bittersweet" ending we all hate got left in? C'mon.

I didn't romance anyone through any of the games and I didn't get this version of the conversation.

I definitely remember the "I'm proud of you..." line, as well as the line about children (My character was also a Soldier, which may be something you need, since he does say he is a Soldier, was also a Sole Survivor and a Spacer) as I walked away after Anderson died, it was very moving (Only to walk back a few moments later to see a weird, ghostly child as I heard him speaking on my headphones)
EDIT: Sorry to ressurect a dead topic, it seems. Was brought here from another thread.

Probably my favorite exchange in the game and it was in cut footage...

Also, one likely reason this was cut, besides being considered protracted and having fitment issues with the "I'm Proud of You" soundtrack, is that these lines are inaccurate/wrong. Anderson mentions he "never had a family, wife or kids". However, Anderson has been established as having an ex-wife in one of the earlier books, and possible letters from LoTSB highly suggest he at least had a son from that marriage. If Anderson is divorced and had a kid with his ex-wife, this line makes no sense.
As much as I like this extended dialogue, it's wrong.

Pretty sure that getting this conversation "only if you have no LI" is bunk, and has been tested. The idea was first suggested by some internet troll on Youtube. If someone wants to prove it, post a video on youtube WITH the scene animated as it appears in game. Until then, I won't believe it.

Still doesn't change the contradiction of "never had a family, Shepard. Never had children". Stepfather or not, if you have a wife and a kid in the equation (mutual blood or just hers), you have a family.
