I found it morally wrong for 2 reasons.

1. We are forcing change of every living thing in the galaxy without their consent.
2. We are basically doing what the Reapers do. Merging of synthetics and organics.

I chose Destroy because it is the only choice where you finish your orginal goal. I personally think starchild was lying about EDI and the Geth dying. He doesn't want to die himself being a A.I. so he tries to sway Shepard through guilt.

It's beautiful because it's peace and harmony. Fan-tastic.

But it's also completely insane. In much the same way that flying pink elephants are.

I'm REALLY liking the synthesis ending. it requires Shep to sacrifice himself completely (in control ending it's just the body), yet seeing EDI and Joker smile and how life got trasformed was just beautiful.

Indeed, forcing your will on every single organic substance in the whole galaxy, transforming every single being into something they never wanted to be or agreed on becoming - it's a beautiful sight.

Free will, diversity, self-determination? We dismissed these claims...

Nothing beautiful about it to me. Forcing that kind of change, especially after so much of the trilogy was spent kind of embracing diversity, seemed kind of brutal to me. To me the "people can't be different, everyone must be alike" thing is a horrifying thought.

I found synthesis the most ethically reprehensible choice of them all. At least with Control, you were only manipulating, violating and dominating the race that had already declared itself your enemy. With synthesis, you were doing it to every being in the galaxy, including your own race, your allies and your friends.

Icky.

I like toasters
But one day, the toaster will rebel
Thanks to Shepard, the toaster is now fused to my crotch

Beautiful or not, the Reapers win with the Synthesis ending.

The major theme of diversity is dropped.

So basically: Forget about your friends, forget about different races, forget about uniting a galaxy...getting RID of diversity is the way to peace....

No. No thanks. I want to choose to take my chances conventionally against the Reapers....OH WAIT I CAN'T.

If there is one thing that I found to be a beautiful theme in the Mass Effect series it is that no one has the right to play God. Just look at the Genophage. Initially you only know that the genophage is an instrument for controlling the Krogan population developed by the Salarians. Then through the eyes of Dr Mordin you see how the neat population statistics hides a dead Krogan female who allowed a crazy scientist to mutilate her body in her desperate desire to bear a child. Mordin's goodbye to the dead Krogan female was for me one of the most touching moments in ME2. In ME3 Mordin's moral inner journey finally ends with his decision that he must try to undo the evil he has done. No one should be allowed to play God. This is exactly what synthesis is. Disregarding the ill-concieved "space magic" of the solution, it's Shepard playing god with the DNA of every sentient being in the Galaxy, without asking anyone for their consent. How many people killed themselves or went insane when they woke up and realized that they had been transformed to cyborgs?

ye, but why couldn't i just toss dead Anderson in the beam?

Because he wasn't a partially synthetic like Shep was, thought it was clear.

So throw dead Illusive Man in there.

Completely agree.
This ending completely contradict prior Mass Effect games.
Merging synthetics and organics is what Sarren tried to accomplish in Mass Effect 1.

And we stop him because it was WRONG.
It negates two of the most important Mass Effect themes: racial diversity and self-determination.

That is why people are upset about those endings, Sheppard just give up and forget what he has been figthing for three games.
It makes no sense at all.
So no it's not beautiful, it's absolutely outrageous, from lore point of view, and from galaxy point of view.

It's a weird choice because you fought for 3 entire games and hundreds of hours so everyone could have a chance at life. You proved countless time that from diversity emerge strength and in the end you're just saying screw that the only way for people to live in peace is for them to be all the same.

Forgive me for what about to say, but this reminds me Ursula K. Le Guin The Lathe of Heaven, the one characters solution to race problem was to make every human the same race, that what this ending reminds me of, Destroy reminds me if the two races can't get long we just eliminate an entire race. and Control I think of slavery of black people.... Maybe I am just reading to much into this...

I found it morally wrong (forceful homogenisation, reducing diversity) and in no way will it prevent the resulting organic/synthetic hybrid beings from creating a pure AI that wipes them out (might even make everyone more susceptible to control due to a partly synthetic nature, Javik pretty much says this happened in the past). Also, it is pure space magic, it makes no goddamn sense.

I felt synthesis screamed, 'You're different and that's awful.' Before it standardized everyone's DNA or whatever the expletive it did.

I thought it was pure evil, in fact. Shepard has no right to play god and violate the free will of every living being in the galaxy.
Plus it solves absolutely nothing.

I don't see how is it beautiful at all. I could understand if everyone in the galaxy made their choice and became half machines. Sure, good for them. But you imposing them to become something against their will is sick.

Let's disregard the space magic that would be required to alter the genetic code of the universe in the first place. Synthesis gives Shepard the power to permanently alter the genetic code of the universe without the individual's consent. The opposite of free will. It is another form of Reaper enslavement.

It's morally wrong. You, an individual, in the heat of a raging battle, decide to alter all living beings in the galaxy. There's not enough time to deliberate, nor to weigh the options properly, there's no point of return nor any rule by consent. In that fashion I'd reject the Synthesis option; it's not the place of one human being to decide the fate of the entire galaxy. There's also not enough information to judge properly if this ending will truly make the galaxy a better place; it could cause unhappiness; there's a lot to say for our lives being so interesting, because we're imperfect.

All in all, I only considered the Red and Blue ending to be the most moral choices. It is awful to kill the Synthetic beings, but it's killing billions to save trillions. There's something to say for that, even if it means killing off friends and allies. It also means a reversion or at least a reset, without permanently changing the galaxy for trillions of years. In that way, the results of your choice will seize to matter in thousands of years - thus enabling to restore 'a wrong decision'.

Control seems to be the best option. You sacrifice yourself to save the galaxy from a terror - but you also can not permanently secure the galaxy from the threat of the Reapers; they're still there.

That too, true. But my main nitpick is with Shepard, I don't care about that stupid kid. He/She would never do such a thing. The character is completely assassinated in the last scene.

So why did everyone who has chosen synthesis killed Saren in ME1?
Are you mad? You killed your Soul-mate! He would have understand you, he was like you just a good person...

Synthesis is like ****ting on everything you have done before, and "Control" also.

Mine would have never acted like that either :x
