Spewing a mix of speculation and headcanon and trying to pass it off as "what clearly happened" does not work.

Be nice. It is a valid theory, still just a theory, but a valid one.

So in short, the theory goes something like this.

The fleet escort the crucble into place.

Shep makes a final push towards the beam and Harbinger knowing the crucible is about to obliterate him and the Reapers uses his final moments to toy with Shep through indoctrination.

The end scene takes place..

The crucible is used by the fleet regarldess of what option you chose.

The Reapers are defeated.

It actually does make sense.

Is that sarcasm in there or are you just happy to read this?

No, really it does make sense.

And more to the point makes the ending a work of genius lol

I am making this post in an honest attempt to help people understand and appreciate the endings more. I personally feel after reading posts here and hearing from friends that, most of this anger over the endings is caused because they did not see the over 4000 asset "destroy" option ending.

Is this ending @50% with 4000+ war assets? (so 2000 +? Military strenght)?
OR
Did you do MP and gotten the 50% up to 100% and get 4000+ total?

I'm currently at 5700+ and didn't do the MP yet so half of that @ 50% readiness.

Your _effective_ strength has to be 4000+. That means that you need like 8000 if you don't want to play te MP.

"Hallucination theory" certainly makes the ending seem a lot less imbecilic and nonsensical, but it still doesn't keep it from seeming rather incomplete (as in "lacking a freaking ending!"). Also, and I am admittedly not capable of proving this, but I really doubt that it being a hallucination was Bioware's intention with the ending. Then again, I essentially have to convince myself that this theory is the case, if only to be able to replay the game at some point.

I still cant figure whether is it depression that drives people speculate on this or a fanatical belief.

It seems either Bioware wanted this ****storm. Or they were in such denial thinking ME fans would be content with this horrible attempt of an ending.

I concur, with one addendum though. To me it's genius if there's a continuation coming, otherwise it's just "meh". Cool and all, but without closure I still feel like all these years playing the game were irrelevant.

You're missing an option there. Interpretation requires analysis. If it were a fanatical attempt it wouldn't make sense.

I think the ending DLC will start with either the british guy(major Kouts or something like that) finding you in the rubble or something simillar. Regardless, even Batman himself hasn't been able to get out of the rubble, closer to Arkham City finale. The player, as Catwoman, was given a choice - either leave Arkham City with the loot(the game ends, Batman dies and Gotham City is destroyed), or go help him get out of the rubble and defeat all the villains.

Honestly, if players really have to make all that effort to understand a friggin ending, the developers fails miserably in their presentation. This is video game that everything was pretty clear since the first of the franchise, and now they want to be highly philosophical and mysterious in the last 10 minutes? Talks about consistency.

Even if it's true, it's still awfully wrong to again, cut you out of the perfect ending just because they want to sell more DLC. They leave sour taste in our mouth in what supposedly a closure of the series.  That's poor artistic practice. If this is true the only thing I see is pure greed, unless they make the closure DLC for free.

Like someone said in the fitst page, it's like selling Mass Effect 2 without the collector base mission. The analogy can go on forever. It's still **** ending.

I agree, I just don't appreciate people claiming that this theory is definitively what actually happened.

I guess this is what some people who hate me dont get. That even if this isnt officially stated as the canon ending. doesnt mean you cant use it to make yourself feel happy bout the ending. I mean it does work and work well. Much better then not trying and just saying that the endings should remain sucky and anybody who says otherwise is in denial.

the fact of the matter is, many do like the ending. more people like this version of the ending. They dont have to be wrong and just because you either hate or dont get the ending doesn't mean others cant. One benefit of ambiguous endings, fill in your own blanks.

Believe what you like, Tiax. The truth is, Bioware's writing team effed up and effed up bigtime.

If this were a movie, it would have been critically panned. If this were a movie, it would be playing on a single screen after the opening weekend and out of theaters within a month. If this were a movie, it would be a box office FLOP.

If this were a movie, the next time the writer and producer get together, the studio would force a shoestring budget and a direct to video release.

If this were a book, the writer would lose readers. If this were a sport, the team would lose fans.

People are rightfully furious about the endings, which pull a massive genre shift and introduce a *literal* Deus Ex Machina at the last minute.

If what your saying is true OP, I think it would be wrong for them to charge for a small epilogue/ending DLC because essentially they just took out the ending and sold everyone a incomplete game. Unless that said content is big enough to warrant a 2nd purchase, much like DA: Awakening, or Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows part 2

Sadly what youve got here is a hopeful opinion that bioware havent screwed you over with a tacked on thoughtless ending to an epicly crafted trilogy. Your presenting your opinion as fact and trying to piece together the gaping plot holes to support your theory.

Dont get me wrong im praying your right and they will continue this story. But dont try and sell this as fact when there is no real proof to support it. Untill Bioware take an official stance you cannot prove anything. I just hope to RaptorJesus that your right. will be a kick in the teeth if they turn around and say 'these are the endings deal with it storys over'

Sorry but this is just utter straw grasping. The script has the exact same endings and conversations, including the one where Shep lives, and they call Synthesis the "perfect" ending. There's also not a single mention of indoctrination or anything of the kind.

agreed on both quotes. I hate the fact that they might market more dlc out of me but also love it as the work of art it really is. This game STILL has gret potential to please.

By your logic, 50% of the movies and books out there have "bad" endings. Simple isn't the only alternative.

Interesting theory but that scene isn't much to support it unless Bioware admits that was the case. Just have to hope that Bioware explains and if future DLC will correct.
