I was playing ME3 quite happily for 20h and then the game crashed. When I tried to play it again there's no sound whatsoever. I've re-installed the game five times to no effect and tried running it as an administartor from the root file. Can anyone please help?
ME3 crashed and now no sound

Have you tried this:Start Mass Effect 3 and start your game. Hit Alt + Tab. Go to Menu Start, go to Search Programs and Files and type "volume". If correct, a tab called "Programs" appears.

Click on the first program in that tab. It should be called "volumemixer". A panel will open. If needed, make it bigger. Search for Mass Effect 3 in there. You can increase the volume for the game from there. Check if the game is muted or not.

Then there is also the obvious choice... to check the "sound" menu and make sure the options havent been messed with somehow...
Get mad at the suggestion if you want, but having worked computer tech support for an ISP for years... I find the easiest fixes are often the most overlooked and also the most common.
"Your internet made it so my computer doesnt work!"
"Did you check the power cord to make sure it didn't come unplugged?"
"What the ****'s the matter with you!?!?! You think I'm a moron?!?! OF COURSE I CHECKED IT!!!!"
*Hear cords rustling then computer booting*
"Aww ****! Are you fu...."
*Phone hangs up*
If I had a nickel for every time something like this happened I'd be one right bitc....

Thanks for your reply but I don't seeme to have a volumemixer program. I'm running it on Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit. It'so strange that the gameplay itself is completely fine but just no sound.
Yes I thought it would be something simple too but when i checked my sound options their fine. ME1 and ME2 work fine as does the Witcher 2 and DA:O. just seems to be ME3

The "volumemixer" program should be on everyone's PC.
It is a basic part of your system. I'm sorry if I was unclear. I had to change my system to English language to find out how to get there.
If I'm not mistaken, there also should be a sound icon in your system tray. It's depicted as a speaker. Click on it. Then click on the blue word below. Mine says "mixer", I don't know what it is named on your system.
BTW, do you use a different language on your PC? That could be the cause of "volume" not resulting in any hits when searching it.
And does sound work for other things, like YouTube or Windows Media Player?
@Shadedsoul
Yeah, I didn't know about that one. Then again, I do not have that much experience with PC's.
More often than not my laptop has the nasty habit of muting / decreasing sounds of applications like Minecraft and such. Very annoying. That is why I suggested to open up the "volumemixer".
