If they continue making Shepard Games, it will maybe never end, it would be a violation of him.
Shepards Story needs to End, with an End that leave him hes Free Will and not make him a Slave.

-A statue on the Presidium
-An old, mostly senile man who gets wheeled out once a year for celebrations, or along the lines of Grissom, tired, old, annoyed at a lot of things.

How can you?
I agreem with most here, if shep's not in it, its just gonna feel strange playing, its alotmore then you guys that want to have shepard for more games.
They WILL lose a lot of income, they will lose money.
Yes we will need an ending, but not like this. If they get pushd to make a new ending, why not a real good one that will continue shepards future.
They need to be realy careful with this one.
Make a misstake, lose lots of players.
Shepard deserves to be in the other games.
And i dont like what i read today also
"BioWare has been meaning to introduce a main character suicide plot for some time now"
JUST PLAIN STUPID....
As I have said in last post here on forum, they have left behind to many plots to just kill of shep now...
I ddint feel this game was a closure at all of shep's life.
But I did feel that it was some kind of closure with his squadmates that died, like, Thane Krios, Mordin Solus.
Im here with Mass Effect 4 CE, i had expectation from this game, lots of them didnt get through.
This game missd alot, for what they promised.
"Mark Butler suggests that BioWare’s greatest error was to break a key promise to fans – damaging a certain degree of trust between developer and gamer in the process."
Regardless of the kind of person 'your' Shepard is, and what he or she has chosen to do along the way, the game's ending is pretty much the same..
If they come with a fix, and it's like he gets killd in ending in them too, i would not call it a change.
They need to give it more ending, like sheps live, sheps on an tropical eyeland with his LI. With Garrus in rio taking a drink etc.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with players "No shepard, no Mass Effect! They can destroy the Citadel, also Mass Relays, but no shep, no Mass Effect"
People are different, me my self are a game addict, i know for a fact that people who say they dont want shep in ME4 is not a game addict, just play games for "fun".
I want shep back for more. Game addict also wants him back, and we are not few, i have spoken to lots of people who play Mass Effect 4 for just the fun in it, they could not care less about sheps life, also lots of people who realy cares for the game, they want him back.
It's not the end for him by a long shot.....
(PS: Sorry for bad spelling and the length of this)

Mass Effect FOR LIFE.
I'm glad you don't make video games. I mean, the endings were bad, but if you want to see what happens when you try to expound upon a complete trilogy, then, well, my friend, I point you to Star Wars.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Shep will not be back for ME4, and if he is, it'll be as others have said: a statue (remember the Normany memorial you placed in ME2?). He won't be there in person.
So, what, you're actually more willing to buy a game with a story cobbled together by retcons and plotholes so you can have...a pixelated character with a familiar voice, rather than a story that's well-thought out and contains a new voice actor and a new character design with a story that, in following the Mass Effect trend, you get to write part of yourself? Sir, if one of us is not following a logical train of thought, then I posit that it's likely your overestimated "not few" band of brothers.
P.S. If you're an addict, go seek help. That's a problem.

EDIT:
One thing I forgot (which speaks more for my 1st point):
A couple of days ago I said to a co-worker, who asked me if I would buy a Mass Effect 4: I don´t know... of course I only will buy any new Bioware game if ME3 got a better ending, but for me right now ME4 without Shepard feels like Nightwish without Tarja Turunen...

Why can't you start the next game with this option
1:import save and shepard
2:import save but play with new character.
TADA !!!!!! Now everybody gets what they want...
edit: And I bet half of you say that you don't want shepard anymore, just because the game was suposed to be a trilogy. I don't see metal gear fan complaining about snake, I don't see halo fans complaining about master chief, I don't see assassin creed fan complaining about desmond.
Well you get my point.

I don't want Shep back. I wouldn't mind if he was around. but I don't need him to be around or have any serious desire for him to be around.
His story is over. Time for a new story to shine.
aye time for another mass effect but one without shepard and how they go about everything i would say 20 years after the reapers been what ever you choose for a ending

But you should be able to import him and he could play a role in it somehow. And you could meet everyone else throughout the galaxy.
Now that would be badass to either meet Shepard on Elysium from a war hero Shep, or on Rannoch for a Talimancer Shep, or hell, as the human counciler/alliance parliament or something.

I love Mass effect, I love it. LOVE IT. But it should end with 3 and frankly...that should be it for Mass Effect. The Ultimate Enemy has been defeated by the Ultimate Hero...Where is there to go from here that isn't just milking it?
I would like to see bioware take the same formula (having a custom built protagonist in a series about choice and consequence in which the saves from one game can be carried over into the next) but take it in a whole other direction.
Preferably, though, I would like it set sometime other than "LONG INTO THE FUTURE" and "LONG IN THE PAST".
So no laser guns and spaceships, nor swords and magic; Hell Give us Victorian steam punk or a legit "Modern day" plot. But what ME did better than anyone or anything else is a game which felt personal - THAT is why ME is great (it's also why ME3's ending failed)

Mind if I disagee with you? This trilogy did not end as one would expect a trilogy to end - in fact, and maybe it's just me, they left far more questions than answers for a end to have occurred. For instance my Sheppard lived - then what? My crew ended up on some unknown plant - then what? The rest of the galactic ships and warriors were left stranded - then what? Earth was virtually devestated - then what? And so on.NubXL wrote...
No. I don't want them dragging this/him out. I would have preferred the definitive trilogy ending they promised in the first place. Sometimes a trilogy should just be a trilogy.

Oh I agree. What they did was set themselves up for a whole bunch of sequels and spin-offs, and it's somewhat aggravating. I wish people could just build a strong, epic trilogy and leave it at that. These days they always have to do more. I don't understand why everything has to be eventually run into the ground. Less is more.alberta wrote...
