I seem to have the bug with the "Black Eyes" also. i have looked through the forums and all i found was people saying update/downgrade drivers.

I expected it to be happening in Mass Effect 1 AND 2 but i only have the problem in Mass Effect 1
I installed the latest drivers today and that did not fix it.

I really do not feel the need to uninstall these drivers and test a whole tirade of old drivers to be honest.
is there some way (maybe by editing Mass Effect files) to fix the Black Eye problem?

Things i have done so far:
-----------------------------------
looked on google:
  • found vids of people having the same problem.
  • found links to this forum, telling people to try other (newer/older) GPU drivers
  • found no other fixes (yet)
Installed latests drivers for my GPU

Things i'd rather NOT do:

----------------------------------
Reinstall older GPU drivers.

System Specs:
AMD Phenom II X6
AMD Radeon HD6870

Game info:
Steam version of Mass Effect
Pinnacle Station Installed.
Bring Down The Sky Installed.

if i have missed anything please tell me.

OK, after a bit more messing around with Mass Effect i found a solution for my problem:
  • Run the Mass Effect Launcher
  • When Launcher opens Click the Configure button.
  • A new window opens, here Click on the Repair option.
  • Click "Delete Local Shader Cache Files" Button
  • Click Mass Effect (In the Menu bar at the top of the window)
  • Click Save Settings
  • Done, now check if your problem is gone.
I am not sure if Step 5 and 6 helped to fix the problem, but i did them anyway.
