So I bought ME3 from a store, when I started it up, it made me install Origin, which I did and then entered my product key and it accepted it.
Yet when I use the disc to install, it asks for the serial code and when I enter it, it says it's already being used. Of course it is, it's being used by me. Why isn't it recognizing my activation?
ME3 Not Installing From Disc even with Serial.

What does origin say on "my games" page, does it list Mass Effect 3?

Yes it does.

I have the exact same situation. I asked and EA said to start the download from Origin and copy the files from the disc to install folder. Didn't do anything

Search, theres a post on this issue and copying files across from disc.
I also posted what I done.
I installed origin, then logged in, then ran installed, it seen I was installed.
It then asked for key, I entered key. It then went to download page and started installing from disc.
It could be, cause it thinks you bought it from origin, hence your problem (I know it sounds stupid, but origin is the buggiest software I have ever used).

I uninstalled Origin and ME3 with Revo. The disks seemed to work again but did not ask for the key.
Now everytime I try to launch I get the activation window saying that my key code is logged to another user.
So even if you get the disks to work again...you may still be in limbo.

Yes, I've done all of those, I've also had exactly the same error after downloading ME3 as I'm getting from a disk install. Key code shows as mine on Origin, but when I try to run game it says that the code is registered to someone else. Press to manually input. Press button. Screen crashes.
Also done up to date drivers, clean windows, no firewall/antivirus, new .dll files from EA, and tried to erase a file that isn't there - the licence.

Issue 5 from http://forum.ea.com/...st/8216792.page worked for me:
"Here is a workaround that worked for me. My DVDs came with Mass Effect 3 packed in standard multipart .zip files, named "Mass Effect 3.z01" on DVD 1 and "Mass Effect 3.zip" on DVD 2 (yes, part 1 is on the second dvd /sigh). If your DVDs have different content, you have to figure out how to copy files yourself.
1. - If you got to this thread that probably means that you already activated your game in Origin, and started the download. If not, do so, and exit Origin.
2. - Backup and delete all files in following folders. Leave the folders and subfolders intact:
[Origin Game install folder]\\Mass Effect 3\\
[System Drive]\\ProgramData\\Origin\\DownloadCache\\ (or the appropriate subfolder of Application Data in Windows XP)
[System Drive]\\ProgramData\\Origin\\DownloadCache\\{ [your mass effect 3 account email address] }
3. - Copy "Mass Effect 3.zip" from DVD 2 and "Mass Effect 3.z01" from DVD 1 to a temporary folder. You may skip this step, if you can handle multipart archives from DVDs.
4. - Extract the zip files to [Origin Game install folder]\\Mass Effect 3\\ . You can use WinRar, 7zip, Total Commander, etc. Some files will have CRC errors, that not a problem, click OK/Continue.
5. - I'm not sure the following is needed, but I did it anyways: I've cleared "Read-Only" attribute from all files in Mass Effect 3 folder using Total Commander.
6. - Start Origin and resume/restart download (which should last only a few minutes now). If you get problems (Installation failed on 99%) that means that you haven't cleared everything in step two. "

Hi, bit of hassle but copy one zip on dvd2 (2GBs) and other z from dvd1 (8GB) unpck it to mass effect folder which should be in you "origin game folder". Then just run file control in game library. In the process of unpcking and copying, have Origin turned off.

Right I've done it, and when I opened Origin and right clicked on ME3 in my games, it has install instead of download, and it seems to be installing right now, let's see what happens.
