Why should it be free? Developing a product requires time and resources which in turn require money. Gaming is not charity, this is a business and they're entitled to sell what they work for.
Because is the ****ing end. How could they sell the end apart?
It's like selling a shirt without one sleeve. Would you pay the company for that sleeve? Hell no, you'd return it and get one with both sleeves.

Frankly I'm burned out on BW's DLC craze. The entertainment value to cost ratio is really poor. ME3 took 30 hours to complete and cost me $60. From Ashes had (being generous) perhaps 2 hours of content total and cost $10. Due to the complete lack of replayability thanks to the ending, ME3 is already looking poor compared to other RPGs. But even that blows the DLC out of the water.

The undertaking for a DLC is not a 2 man job. they will be paying for months worth of work from a team of artists, engineers, and designers, and those guys aren't cheap.
I think everyone is taking this whole damn DLC craze thing too far. DLC adds the possibility of extending a game, or even fixing it. You know what no dlc would be like? WHATYOU HAVE RIGHT NOW, a steaming pile of sh*t in your lap that you just wasted $60 or $70 or $80 bux on.
YOU are not gonna get it for free! those guys making the game gotta pay bills. if you want a proper ending for free, go write a fanfic, and when you get to the ending choices, shut the game off and read your novel you just wrote.

Just because you were not satisfied with the product you purchased before does not entitle you to get their next product for free. You don't like it, don't buy it but don't think anyone is somehow entitled to a free service now.
Well, yea I guess we all should've rented it. But you're a goof if you think we shouldn't get this for free you Bioware C*** holder.

I'm not gonna lie I would probably buy it but it would be the last series of games I would purchase from bioware would be Mass Effect. No Generals Command and Conquer 2, dragon age or Mass Effect expanded universe no shepard edition.
I hate so much EA is the only company making ****ing dlcs everywhere, old good times, when you buy a game and you got all the game and, in the best of cases, a ****ing expansion set with several hours of fan, and now EA puts their dirty hands on bioware... If i must buy a DLC for the true ending of me3 it would be the last thing i'll buy from bioware until he leavers this ****ing DLC politic and i hope a ton of people do the same as me

guys i dont really know if its just stating the obvious or you figured out it too, but if that dream/halucination theory is true and real endings will be in DLC, or if BW listens and will make fixed ending DLC in future, IF its not free, DONT buy it. i know we all want to see this huge problem fixed, and some would even pay for it, but I saw this as some marketing test. if BW will succeed in ,lets say, 15 USD ending DLC, soon every company will start selling games in pieces. get us hooked to game and then BAM - "please pay 15 bucks to see how this amazing game ends". thank you for reading this
FF did it, stands to reason, EA- the most evil company in the universe, built by the reapers- would also try it.

1. Win back most of the haters (some will keep hating, but that's the cost of business)
2. Gain the crown for best Sci-Fi twist ever (if it costs, it loses part of that sheen however)
3. Be personal champions to literally millions of gamers who are dissappointed.. also to those of us that think it was the plan from the get go, albeit a poorly executed one.

I think we all have to remember that Bioware is our only hope to fixing this mess. The Bioware designers were the ones who came up with the characters and the series as a whole, so the entity that is in the best position to fix the ending would be Bioware. Furthermore, I believe that it would be in their best interest, business-wise, to fix the ending because if it’s not fixed, then customers might start having doubts about whether the game is really worth it even after they saw gameplays of it on YouTube, especially the ending part of Mass Effect 3. I’m taking two courses related to e-commerce and marketing, and I’m aware for a fact that one of the factors that contribute to customer loyalty and continued brand loyalty for a company is paying attention to your customers and resolving their complaints. For Bioware, strengthening the relationship between the company and its dedicated fans would be key to thriving as a company.
Personally, all I would want Bioware to do is fix the ending, and get it done…satisfactorily. Right now, it seems that an ending DLC is due to come around April, and it’s supposed to be called “The Truth”, which is supposed to expand on the ending on the premise that Commander Shepard’s experience on the Citadel near the end of the game were an illusion related to Reaper indoctrination. Getting the ending fixed, however, may not guarantee the ending to be distributed across the ‘net for free, as it will take a lot of resources and manpower. I’d be willing to pay for the DLC…just to bring closure to the entire Mass Effect series…with, hopefully, an epilogue involving Shepard with his love interest. Therefore it would be in our best interests to give Bioware that chance to fully fix the Mass Effect 3 ending. If Bioware can deliver on that ending, the day that Bioware releases a fix to that ending will be called a day of rejoicing on the part of us fans…hopefully, if Bioware does it right.

I mean if I was them I'd just ask people to pre-order to get a level of interest or something, and see what it looks like financially. Kind of a bad situation all around but at least both sides get what they want.

I can imagine that creating, programming, voice-acting, CGI videos.... don`t come cheap for BioWare. So I`m pretty much convinced, that a freeby would only be another terrible ending. I`d rather pay to get a great experience, than being left with the current mess or get an equal stupid ending for free.

Veggies, this is not merely a case of dissatisfaction, which is subjective, but also of proven false statements.
A DLC ending should be free because the current "ending" contradicts everything they said about the ending prior to release, in other words, false advertising. "Your choices determine the outcome" - the only choices really affecting the current ending are the choices made during the ending. "Radically different endings" - I don't think that the slight variations of 1 base cutscene would fit anyone's definition of "radically different". I could go on. I believe someone already went to the trouble in one of these forums of putting up a list of every statement made before release regarding the ending which are blatantly false or misleading given the current ending. The 2 examples above are actually still on the website.
