Did anyone else find Javik to be a prick?

I found his elitism and trolling of other squadmates to be hilarious.
He was awesome.

I love that he basically obliterated the romantic view of Protheans that had been held up to that point. It makes me wonder what we've done that to in our own history.
Spartans! Honestly most ancient civilizations we assume to be brutal and a bunch of ****s.
But yeah, Javik being a dick is the entire point. What would you do if you came back 50,000 years from now and monkeys were running the show? You'd call them damn dirty apes.

I think he has call to be a ******. He's 50,000 years old, the last of his race. He's never going to change what happened, he's never going to be able to propagate his species. Can you imagine being the last human? Not one of the last, the last. There are no others. Your species is effectively dead, you got to watch it die, when you die? You're gone. Extinct. On the list with the oryx and crake and dodo and dinosaurs. Now, tell me, in that situation, would you be a nice guy?
Besides, he gets a lot better if you're playing a Paragon. There's even this really sweet Paragon Interrupt you can do on the Citadel with him (when he asks you to meet him), that shows he honestly believes that you'll beat the Reapers.
I'm pretty sure he's just saying what he thinks you want to hear; he pretty much admits that that was what he was doing after his little peptalk to Liara.
He's a person devoid of manners and respect, but that's to be expected. His entire life has been lived in the ruins of a fallen empire and in constant war with an unstoppable enemy with no way of knowing who among his friends are already plotting to betray him to the Reapers. It would have been cheap and cartoonish to make him amiable and optimistic.
Overall I found him to be unnecessary and of only limited relevance, but I found amusement in his ability and willingness to take the wind out of everyone's sails.

I was really excited about the idea of a Prothean squadmate but soon his personality just became unbearable. He looked cool and had some decent attacks but the way he treated my fellow squadmates as well as his snobbish demeanor got on my nerves.
He would go on and on about how other races are primitives. Look jackass, that was 50K years ago, things have changed and it's time to move on.
Every time he would communicate with my fellow squadmates he was always rude. He was justified in seeking vengeance against the reapers but he should've treated me and my fellow crewmates as comrades in arms, not as annoyance who got in his way.
Next time I'll let Cerberus dissect that schmuck.
He's like a pure renegade "see how you like it" to the renegade players... imo. I find it amusing as a few mates of mine are renegade players and they cannot stand him. Which, is interesting, since it's fine for them to do it but god-damn don't you dare renegade them or their squadmates back. >_>

His disposition is a lot more sterner and colder than Wrex, but still, he sometimes deliver a couple of rather amusing sarcastic verbal supositories, whenever he feels the need to rag on some of the monkeys' decendants. Kinda reminds me of a somewhat neutral and a tad less spiteful space version of Edwin Odesseiron.

He never admitted that to me. And I don't find him devoid of manners and respect at all. If he was devoid of manners and respect, he would have taken over the ship to likely do a suicide run on the Reapers or something. Besides, he thanked me in the end, which was nice. He admitted that he believed Shepard/humans could really do this like, three times before I was done.
I do agree it would have been ridiculous to make him any other way, personality wise.
I dunno, he pretty much became an inseperable member of my team, in the way that Wrex and Grunt did in the 1st and 2nd games. I loved everything that had to do with him. Just my opinion though.

He's actually not that bad. His encounter with the 'younger races' on the Citadel and the 'Paragon' speech he gives is actually a highlight of his story arc.

I don't mind that he was arrogant because that would be EXACTLY they way such an advanced race encounters a less developed race. That made sense. But I was very disappointed that he has no interesting information to offer. As the last ****ing prothean in the whole universe he has no impact on the story at all. That was just cheap. Even the prothean VIs had more impact throughout the series.
In the end, what and who did have an impact on the story? Basically no one.
I do agree I wish they had done more with him, and the fact that you have that Cipher was left out of so much of ME2 and 3 (well, left out entirely in 2, as far as I know).

I'm perfectly OK with the character. Even more than that I like it as I consider it another one of BW's bold choices that paid off. Granted perhaps not all of the bold choices paid off but I'm really good with Javik.

Bringing him along to Thessia is a must.
That he's also one of the most resilient and dangerous team members makes him even more awesome.
