this! I loved his personality. And it made sense seeing thats how he was raised. All he's ever known is loss and death, so of course he would have a renagade outlook.JeanLuc Awesome wrote...
I thought he was pretty hilarious, "they used to eat flies".
He opens up as you progress and becomes less of a elitist, I like him.
Did anyone else find Javik to be a prick?

I don't mind that he was arrogant because that would be EXACTLY they way such an advanced race encounters a less developed race. That made sense. But I was very disappointed that he has no interesting information to offer. As the last ****ing prothean in the whole universe he has no impact on the story at all. That was just cheap. Even the prothean VIs had more impact throughout the series.
Seems logical to me, though. He more or less admitted it himself. He was born long after the Prothean Empire was essentially destroyed. He may have had some interesting information about his particular small remaining cell of resistance, but he was a warrior, after all. Not a scientist or a historian, and most of the information he could have about what would constitute the real Prothean Empire at it's peak would be hearsay and second hand information as well. He never experienced it anyway, and even if he did, he had no tech-stuff knowledge that would help turn the tide.
He has nothing to offer that'll help Shepard come to a victory any faster besides his martial skills. He's pretty much nothing more than a Prothean soldier, not THE Prothean Messiah that has the potential to save the galaxy from annihilation. Sure, he's apparently a highly trained soldier, and the way he expresses it, he sort of sounds like the Prothean equvivalent to a Spectre, but still. The Protheans who perhaps could have made a groundbreaking difference were the scientists who went through the Conduit to the Citadel from Ilos and most likely died a slow death from starvation, seeing that they couldn't return to Ilos through the one way Conduit.
And apparently the VI's left by the Protheans were based on Protheans with more relevant knowledge for the races to follow than what Javik has. Vigil was based on a scientist and the VI on Thessia on... errrhhhh, I don't remember... a historian? Whatever. Which would make sense, I suppose. If you wanted to preserve knowledge for 50.000 years, you'd probably choose the knowledge of the Einsteins and Hawkings, not the Billy Bobs.

The conversation with him at the end shows he's caring. He tells Shepard they are in a better situation because hope still exists for the current cycle. He also comments to Shepard how strong certain characters are when they are not around, so they can find their own strength.
And he spent all his life fighting, so anything having to do with politics he's probably going to lash out. Prothans enslaved weaker species because they believed that was the order of things.

I only used him once in my squad selection though. It's to bad Mass Effect 3 doesn't have sidemissions like in ME and ME2.

I think that Javik was only covering the fact that he was severely in pain and regretted the fact that he couldn't save his people. He softened up eventually.
Personally I found Jack's attitude very rude, but given the fact what she lived through I cut her some slack. Now she's a teacher at Grissom academy, a good one at that. Go figure!

People tend to like him because of his brute honesty/ dry humor. I felt he had some of the funniest lines in the game just by how dead pan serious he was.
I didn't like him til you had the option to nudge him basically into giving people hope on the Citadel. That helped.

Then again i wouldn't pick another voice to be such a ******-ass prothean.
"They were eating files" is a gem of a line in his voice
And admit it, you said it in your mind in that prothean ****** manner.

Yet he seems to come around as the game progresses, and the handshake with Shepard at the end of the game symbolizes this.
Seems quite reasonable that he would have to take a while to get used to a bunch of cavemen suddenly being civilized.

He's a person devoid of manners and respect,
Manners maybe, but respect? I get the feeling the more time you spend talking to him, the more he respects you. Just because he doesn't respect anyone from the beginning doesn't mean he's disrespectful. You just have to earn it.
