I thought he was pretty hilarious, "they used to eat flies".

He opens up as you progress and becomes less of a elitist, I like him.

this! I loved his personality. And it made sense seeing thats how he was raised. All he's ever known is loss and death, so of course he would have a renagade outlook.

Couldn't they just clone Javik like the Mass Effect universe has done tons of times before? (You even get a side quest in ME3 about getting DNA to clone some beasts that the Krogan ride on).

I don't mind that he was arrogant because that would be EXACTLY they way such an advanced race encounters a less developed race. That made sense. But I was very disappointed that he has no interesting information to offer. As the last ****ing prothean in the whole universe he has no impact on the story at all. That was just cheap. Even the prothean VIs had more impact throughout the series.

Seems logical to me, though. He more or less admitted it himself. He was born long after the Prothean Empire was essentially destroyed. He may have had some interesting information about his particular small remaining cell of resistance, but he was a warrior, after all. Not a scientist or a historian, and most of the information he could have about what would constitute the real Prothean Empire at it's peak would be hearsay and second hand information as well. He never experienced it anyway, and even if he did, he had no tech-stuff knowledge that would help turn the tide.

He has nothing to offer that'll help Shepard come to a victory any faster besides his martial skills. He's pretty much nothing more than a Prothean soldier, not THE Prothean Messiah that has the potential to save the galaxy from annihilation. Sure, he's apparently a highly trained soldier, and the way he expresses it, he sort of sounds like the Prothean equvivalent to a Spectre, but still. The Protheans who perhaps could have made a groundbreaking difference were the scientists who went through the Conduit to the Citadel from Ilos and most likely died a slow death from starvation, seeing that they couldn't return to Ilos through the one way Conduit.

And apparently the VI's left by the Protheans were based on Protheans with more relevant knowledge for the races to follow than what Javik has. Vigil was based on a scientist and the VI on Thessia on... errrhhhh, I don't remember... a historian? Whatever. Which would make sense, I suppose. If you wanted to preserve knowledge for 50.000 years, you'd probably choose the knowledge of the Einsteins and Hawkings, not the Billy Bobs.

I didn't particularly like his character. He had a few funny lines. But for the most part I avoided using him like the plague. I think the most worthwhile things I got from the DLC was the Prothean back story and the assault rifle that came with it.

I liked Javik just fine. It was pretty clear that his surly disposition was the result of being really, really, REALLY pissed that his species was annihilated by the Reapers. This is a guy who spent his entire life fighting a losing war with the Reaper, with all the horror that it entails. So I would be surprised that he's manner is more than a little abrasive.

I found Javik to not be a ****** at all. He saw all these species when they were very young and as such continues to view himself as superior.

The conversation with him at the end shows he's caring. He tells Shepard they are in a better situation because hope still exists for the current cycle. He also comments to Shepard how strong certain characters are when they are not around, so they can find their own strength.

And he spent all his life fighting, so anything having to do with politics he's probably going to lash out. Prothans enslaved weaker species because they believed that was the order of things.

Yeah its why I only used him on one mission and that was just to see what his combat is like. Really the only squad mates I used often are Ashley, Garrus, and Liara.

He's a ******, but a cool ******.
I only used him once in my squad selection though. It's to bad Mass Effect 3 doesn't have sidemissions like in ME and ME2.

Yeah. I was expecting something totally different.

I actually enjoyed him as this whole metahumor thing. They went the right route.

I'd most likely react the same as him in the given situation. 50,000 years of cryogenics only to find that the monkeys and ants we stomped as children are now actually whole civilizations whereas your civilization is dust and ruins.

I think that Javik was only covering the fact that he was severely in pain and regretted the fact that he couldn't save his people. He softened up eventually.
Personally I found Jack's attitude very rude, but given the fact what she lived through I cut her some slack. Now she's a teacher at Grissom academy, a good one at that. Go figure!

I can see why you don't care for him. He's cold and the opposite of what we believed them to be. Also they were slave drivers basically.

People tend to like him because of his brute honesty/ dry humor. I felt he had some of the funniest lines in the game just by how dead pan serious he was.

I didn't like him til you had the option to nudge him basically into giving people hope on the Citadel. That helped.

To be javik sounded like a nigerian.
Then again i wouldn't pick another voice to be such a ******-ass prothean.

"They were eating files" is a gem of a line in his voice

And admit it, you said it in your mind in that prothean ****** manner.

I loved him. Seems like more people expected him to be like Liara, I liked that the protheans turned out to be so different, was great IMO.

People keep pointing out that he's 50.000 years old and the last survivor of his race. But keep in mind he was also supposed to have enough protheans with him when he came around to rebuild his empire, he didn't. So he grew up in the remains of an empire at war, saw his people die and then at the last moment his one purpose for surviving in the first place is taken away from him. You can't blame him for being resentful after that. He's surrounded by what was primitive races yesterday and he hasn't had time to adjust to that yet. On top of it the reapers are back, and for some ungodly reason the younger races didn't heed the protheans warnings (very strange from his point of view.). I think as he accepts the situation more and more he becomes more and more approachable. I played as renegade/paragon and while at first I thought he was being a bit of a ****** he grew on me and I honestly ended up feeling a bit of respect for the character, he didn't roll over and give up, he found a new purpose for staying alive at least for a while longer, and while I usually don't care for revenge driven characters I think his was justified.

He is the absolute last member of his race. A race that literally ruled the galaxy. He is a veritable ball of psychosis waiting to happen. I'd be cold and prickish too.

I quite liked Jarvik as well. He does think he is the superior being, but it's easy to understand where he's coming from. The galaxy did not understand the warning, did not prepare for the reapers, and the civilized races are the same races he has always known as extremely primitive.

Yet he seems to come around as the game progresses, and the handshake with Shepard at the end of the game symbolizes this.

Seems quite reasonable that he would have to take a while to get used to a bunch of cavemen suddenly being civilized.

He's a person devoid of manners and respect,

Manners maybe, but respect? I get the feeling the more time you spend talking to him, the more he respects you. Just because he doesn't respect anyone from the beginning doesn't mean he's disrespectful. You just have to earn it.

Javik is so renegade it hurts. The perfect renegade for the extreme kind of dudes who were possible in parts of ME1 and 2, the Terra Firma type.
