That was a nice turn. You expect a wise, all-knowing Prothean and all you get is an uppity ******.
He's not that bad once you get to know him, and he shows some light on why the Prothean got pwn evn though they were so advanced.

Still, he got first seats along with Vega on the final suicide mission.

His "touch" ability is unnerving. I'm never letting him in my cabin, ever.

He was born and raised in an oppressive Empire that subjecated "lesser" species. You can't expect him to be anything else than a ******. As a soldier in such a society he was raised to be one. The only thing you can hope for is that over time, he might see things differently.

I despise Javik.
Does anyone know if it's necesary to recruit him in order to end the game?

He is a ******, but considering the cicumstances, he is better than expected.

Plus his character develops well into the end, similar to Grunt.

ummm, no...he's DLC. You can "beat" the game without him.  I found myself taking in on almost every mission on my first run-through just to hear his historical dialogue.

You MUST take him to Thessia with Liara.... has great insights on asari culture.

I would say no, seeing as he's a DLC character. ME2 didn't require Kasumi or Zaeed to finish. Hell, you didn't even have to recruit all the standard characters before doing the final mission.

If you have the DLC is it necesary to recruit him?

He's in a prority mission, after all.

His trolling Liara is gold.

Also - as a character he is a ******. But he makes it clear why he is the way he is, and sometimes, he's almost confused by when people are not pricks.

I think he's great.

No, you can leave him in his stasis pod on Eden Prime... if you want.  But why miss out on the content if you already have the DLC? Just because he's pretentious and full of himself?  Like others have said, his character rly matures by the end of the game.

edit- don't know if him being a "priority" mission has any effect on the game.  Maybe Cerberus gets him and turns him into something awful.

He's really growing on me. He has plenty of reason to be grumpy, I think, and some of his lines are pretty hilarious. I also like how he subtly comes to accept the crew/other races throughout the game. Particularly the paragon interrupt when you're on the Citadel with him stood out - he does listen to Shepard and tries to be encouraging.

So, yes, Javik is a bit of a ******, but I like him.

He is a total ******. But I love him. I'm glad they didn't make the protheans the benevolant race that everyone thought they were. I think its great they way they portrayed them.

He seemed to love pointing out that everything in his cycle was better or worse to everyone.

"I can't believe they're doing that to our people!"
"Well, in my cycle, they used our children against us!"

"Our communication arrays are the most advanced in the galaxy."
"In my cycle, we could sent messages from one side of the galaxy to another in an instant."

"Hey guys, look, I caught a massive fish!"
"Bah, in my cycle, we caught fish twice the size with only our hands."

That said, he could be pretty funny at times.

It just seems to be his own individual personality, I wouldn't judge all the Protheans based on him alone. After all don't forget that Vigil had personality imprints from a Prothean scientist, Ksad Ishan, and he seemed to be friendly, calm, wise and comprehensive.

Like he said, he was born into the war. Javik never even saw his society at its peak, all he knows is war with the reapers.

******? Yes.

But you probably liked other characters that are as bad or worse with less than an ounce of his reason to be the way he is. Anyone who liked Miranda, for example, should embrace Javik with open arms.

Personally I don't like him, I would have prefered a Prothean scientist who'd have been amazed at how far we got.

I think some parts weren't very well written, like the part where he is on the citadel, the asari just comes by and is like "Hey aren't you a prothean? Oh. Okay."

He is great. I talked to him after we found Legion, and I really enjoyed that conversation.  I never even cross my mind that geth might just be trying to get rid of the competition, and especially afterwards the geth were starting to help the quarians almost in the same way that lead to the rise of the AI nemesis in his time.
His insights of the Rachni are also cool. I did not realize they were that old.
Lol, I did not find him to be elitist. If you can back 50,000 years ago, and dogs were the greatest scientific minds in the universe.  You would be like wow, they used to lick themselves.
There is a scene where Joker and Garrus are swapping species jokes, and it just proves my point that the other species look down on humans. No one would say Garrus is an elitist.
I like how he is a "mirror" character for Shephard. He gets to see a Commander that sacrifice friends and fellow soldiers to stop the Reapers, and still lost. In the beginning, all he has is hatred for the Reapers, but as times goes by he does show signs of kindness, when he doesn't have too.
He is one of my top five favorite squad members.

Javik was a really cool character.

It was interesting to see that the Protheans were totally not what everbody expected them to be, but ... hey... what did you expect from somebody who was born into the war with the Reapers and was the Avatar of Vengeance to his people?

And at the end I was pretty sad when he told me that we was going to shoot himself after the Reapers are defeated. Going to join his brothers-in-arms in the next life. Silencing the last voice of the Prothean people. :crying:

"They used to eat flies." -Javik

That one line of dialogue after an awkward silence made me love him.

I liked how it turned out the Protheans were a brutal empire, instead of the beatific beings they were always made out to be in the series up until that point.

I loved his trollish attitude!

Also, if you take your time to know him, you'll understand why he does it. His emotional breakdown is obvious, so trolling everyone might be just his way to deal with his troubles.
