The whole broodmother thing with Hespith and all. When I get scared in a game I usually do not forget about it. I still remember scares in games from when I was a kid, even though I do not remember much else from the games themselves.

This.

I don't think I was ever so creeped out by the idea of a boss before.  The broodmother is disgusting, no doubt, but the story of how she came to be is even worse.  IMO this is the best lead up to a boss fight so far...Hespith's (sp?) hints and ramblings just filled me with dread of what I may find.  Both Branka's betrayal and Hespith's complicity made the whole thing even darker.

Kudos Bioware--it was a most excellent setup.

Loghain's betrayal was completely spoiled for me by the store from where I bought the game, the little description mentioned a traitorous general.

But even without that, I probably would have guessed from the moment I heard his voice. Simon Templeman always ends up playing villain roles. I've hoped for so long that he'd do the voice for an actual party member instead of just villains and random unimportant NPCs, so it was a slap in the face to learn that now when he does that, the only way to get him is to sacrifice another lovable NPC.

Zathrien ending the curse was the most powerful moment for me. I teared up. Leaving behind my parents as a Human Noble. The Joining, Alistair giving me his rose, talking to the Guardian, finally reaching Andraste's Ashes, killing Brother Genitivi(I flipped out, had no idea my character was gonna throw a knife at his head), being betrayed by Bhelen in Dwarf Noble origin, Hespith's song(creepiest moment in-game), Loghain's comment that daughters will always be six years old with pigtails and scraped knees(made me tear up). The list goes on and on. So many great moments in this game.

Oh yeah.  And I've played through enough I hear the whole chant in my head.  "Second day they beat us and eat some for meat."

"I'm dying of something worse than death, dream-friend.  Betrayal."

Hard.  Core.

THAT was bad enough, then to listen to Branka talk about how she had to do it, because it would mean an endless supply of more darkspawn to test her traps.

Those moments gave me true chills.

Nadezha talking about being forced to kneel in dung until the infection set in...

The city elf starting story as a female.  I slaughtered EVERYONE.  Took full responsibility.  I'd still be stabbing if possible.  I don't think any of the other stories gives me quite so much hate to go on.

Leliana singing to you after you complete the daelish quest. The song is hauntingly beautiful and the different reactions your party members have are great.

Yeah Zathrien sacrificing himself and the Lady is a big one for me...also still creeped out by the events leading up to the encounter to Broodmother o.O

And of course the scene at the very end when your character finally kills the Archdemon, and Bann Teagan turns around to look at that light from the tower.

Also that elf in the Dalish camp who was looking for his wife, and when you find her she's a werewolf...and then gives you something (her amulet, I believe?) to give to him, because even though she loves him, she can't go back to him...heartbreaking.

And when Zevran finally admits he loves you close to the end if you're romancing him...that was a nice "awww" moment for me.

I agree with a lot of the above moments, so I'll add a couple unmentioned (or seldom mentioned) ones here...

The female City Elf origin story. Never before has something gotten me so immediately and so intensely attached to a character before, EVER.

Killing Connor in Redcliffe. The whole thing, from talking to Connor, who only wants it to end himself... 'be strong, be brave' and 'I will need your help' to Isolde coming in and pleading for his life, to Isolde taking charge of being the one to end his life... 'close your eyes for me, baby' as she pulls out the knife. My heart's in my throat right now just remembering it. I don't know if I will ever be able to make that choice again.

I only hit submit once, and get a double post, so hrm lemme mention other moments that I remember well.

Caridin ending himself after the weight of the Anvil is taken off his shoulders.

I mentioned the killing of Connor in my prior post, but also killing Isolde to fuel your foray into the Fade... seeing her life's blood get sucked out of her and viciously slammed into you (if you're the one going into the Fade) is pretty jarring.

Lots of great moments, but the 3 I think I will always remember:

Male City elf origin, when you break into the castle and meet some guards. The dagger to the throat left me in awe.

Realizing that in some way, the game began and ended with the same event, the lighting of a beacon atop a tower. Somehow, it seemed very appropriate.

And finally, when I was saying good-bye to my companions, I found myself looking for and missing Alistair.

I saw Loghain's plot a mile off, so I wasn't too surprised there. The second he turned from the king and said 'Yes, Cailen. Glory to us all...' I knew the bastard was going to run. Duncan stabbing Jory was awesome, but I saw it coming too.

The Broodmother I kinda saw it coming, because of the trailers, but the set up towards her battle was awesome. The things they did... that was just wrong, but awesome.

After returning to Denerim for the last time, with all the men lining up cheering after me as I ran past them... that was sheer awesome.

Bioware (and Black Isle before them - surely the saviours of the modern CRPG) excel at little moments of beauty.

Take PS:T for example: amidst all the philosophy and clever dialogue, the moments that made the strongest impression on me were the Nameless One FINALLY remembering his name and Dionarra's final speech.

Caradin's end if you destroy the anvil and the scene where the curse in the forest is ended certainly fall into that category.

Just about every part of the game. :P For example, when you abandon Redcliffe and you're shown a clip of the undead storming for the town and you have this crazy dramatic music in the background or at the end of the game when I was trying to convince Morrigan not to go. :(

The conversation between Shale and Caridin at the Anvil of the Void. No way I was going to side with Branka after that.

The first kiss with Alistair :) I don't know what it was, but it had me all girly and melty on the inside.

Way too many to recount briefly. But the very first, was the Human Noble male, origin, and Iona goes to the door of the bedroom... I want to yell "wait!" and "Crash!!" the door splinters and she is killed.

My first high dragon kill, flipping through the air and the stabbity awesomeness of it all. I let out a very un lady-like whoop and wished I had an instant replay button.

Loghain redeeming himself as the sacrifice. That was immensely satisfying.

Caradin after destorying the anvil is also moving. I also love the build up and endings for most of the romances, though I'll hold out on Morrigan until future content settles that open ending.

I also love the smaller moments that have no real cutscene or such: helping Kaitlyn and her brother get to Denerim, helping Bella either move or become the tavern owner in Redcliffe, and scenes like the alienage in Denerim.

The Broodmother...one of the many reasons that staying completely unspoiled was totally worth it.

The Lady of the Forest leading her army of werewolves out of the Dalish forest, marching on Denerim to aid me in the final battle...very badass.

After I died, Sten telling his people that I was the only worthy person he met in all of Ferelden and Oghren crying as he named his first son after me got me all teary.  The fact that many of my party members ended up simply vanishing without a trace got to me as well.

The werewolves' tragic ending was pretty heartbreaking, too.

Whoever said Bioware is great at the little things is VERY right. I honestly don't think I've YET to find a better 2 hours in a game than the last 2 hours of Mass Effect, from the point where you land on the planet with the Beacon until finish they are utterly amazing in putting so many little things together to make something great.

Lady of the forest was awesome, I really wish the werewolves wouldn't of been hunted off if you took taht ending.

Besides everything thats been mentioned, I would have to say Morrigans conversations the last 2 hours. It just took me by surprise the emotion Claudia Black put into those conversations, and left me completely sad at the end. Specialy the one where she talks about thinking you would discard her in Lothering.

I loved the nice touch of every party member saying goodbye, I think I reloaded that more than a few times.

The whole who to put on a thrown thing is pretty memorable. If only they let me personaly throw Annoura off a cliff.

She betrayed me my second playthough even though I agreed to support her. Apparantly she didn't want to marry me that bad.

Allistar trying to hold her hand as they ascend the steps and she slaps it away is another one.

My funeral :)

Best origin story by far, the Human Noble

Biggest opportunity lost for a dramatic moment... when the PC is taken prisoner,
