I can't play it more than once - that was more than enough. If I want to play a game where I feel like I epically lost and never really stood a chance, I'd play Scrabble with my sister.

Did you actually like the rest of the game? Apart from the ending?

You will find that many people here love the rest of the game. The problem of the ending is that makes your previous efforts worth for nothing.

Why bother cure the krogan? Why bother to establish peace between quarians and geth? It doesnt matter what you do, cure or no cure, peace or no peace, in the end you will always meet that all-knowing piece of light with the same choices.

I thought most of the rest of the game was terrific. The whole Thane episode was very well done. Hanging out with Garrus on the Citadel, the Liara romance, the major jolt of Tali and Legion's demise (whoops, my bad on that one) and the combat was certainly fun as a Vanguard. The ending saps it all to the point where my canon Paragon male Shep may never see ME3 (First and only playthrough was my Renegade Femshep).

It really has. I've finally gotten the courage to play a second time, but for the romances. I'm Alt+F4ing the hell out of the game when I get to the Cerberus base.

I'm sure Hudson and his team expected a good deal of flaming for the endings, but we are talking about a serious matter that damages their reputation. We were promised a game that has more replayability than ME2. With the current endings, that promise was dishonest. Seriously, who wants to play more than twice with this current outcome?

Firstly, we are confused. Did Shepard hallucinate the ending? Is he waking up on Earth after getting knocked out by the reaper beam? Or is he waking up after falling to Earth after the Citadel is destroyed?

Second, where is the "Reapers win" ending? Some people have been trying to lose to let the Reapers win. For 3 games they have done whatever it takes to setup the worst outcome possible just to see the Reapers win.

If the ending is not a hallucination, if the ending is actually the ending, then I'd change the fact that everyone importing ME & ME2 saves get essentially the same ending. Imported save players should have their Shepard saved (maybe by whoever died on Virmire, Wrex (if he is dead), Thane, Saren, or anyone who has died and is Shepard's friend. Next I would change that 3rd option (synthesis); it is ridiculous, if synthetic life merges with organic life, it is no longer synthetic at all. Synthetic means manufactured, so if what was once manufactured is no produced in the womb, then it is organic now. Lastly, I'd give a 4th option to those players with crazy high war assets and readiness; where Shepard can refuse the first 3 options, maybe kill the "being-o'light", and use the crucible/catalyst to kill all reapers outside the Sol system because the Fleet he/she assembled is defeating the Reapers on Earth.

But seriously, as it is now, how many time will you play through?

Probably 6 times all together like in the previous games, least for me.

Eh, as much as I dislike the ending, since it doesn't make a lick of sense, it does not ruin the game for me. 5-10 minutes of nonsense does not ruin 20-30 hours of truly moving storytelling or exciting combat.

ME3 in general was awesome, but yeah, the ending prevents the entire trilogy from being fun.

Regardless of what you do, there's always the terrible ending waiting for you, and all your characters are still doomed. I'm not really a fan of Kelly, but it's one of those things that bugs the hell out of me.

I saved Kelly from being killed on the Collector ship in ME2, I went out of my way to re-play it to save the Normandy crew. In ME3, I saved her from being assassinated by Cerberus. At the end of ME3 she most likely just died anyway on the Citadel!

You make a good point, what happens when the Citadel is jacked by the Reapers? Did Kelly, Aria and all the millions of people on the Citadel die?

It's almost haunting to look back at the hopeful conversations in ME1, ME2 about surviving, things your LI says, the future...all you can think at everything is "no matter what you do, doom is coming."

That's it exactly for me aswell. I can't really play through it again, feeling everything i do is in vain.

And to me it feels as it only has one ending really, so no incentive to play again for a different outcome.

It is generally assumed that almost everybody on the Citadel died, since the Reapers immediately took it over, anyone escaping would meet an untimely death.

However, there is no real clarification.

I never thought that this could happen. I had plans to do multiple play throughs, maleshep, femshep, different LI's, different save imports. But right now I'm depressed. Why bother. I can maybe understand the reasoning for this ending to elicit more DLC but at this point it's too sad to play. This is a tragedy. I can't even think of conversing with Liara knowing it's nothing but loss at the end.

It may sound crazy but I think Bioware needs to provide clarification on the ending, or some type of Alliance News Network release indicating that they've found Shepherd in the rubble and are trying to revive him.  The reapers are still attacking and there is a massive effort underway to save Shepherd.  Then we would know it's not over, the battle still rages.  Right now all we know is that it's over.

Replaying ME1 2 3 several times was going to be my gaming life until Sept but now I just don't have the heart in me to go thru it all again just to see it end the way it did again. Same thing with DLC even if they have fun gameplay it just seems pointless to do knowing that nothing changes.  In time I might recover enough to play some MP but beyond that I can't see myself playing SP for years with current endings.

I don't know how many times I've played ME and ME2, again and again, I've wanted to find everything and tweaking my character a tad more. I've had a blast the past four years I've played them.
After summer I started a new rerun (ME+ME2), just to get the perfect character (in my eyes), with the decisions I thought was right. Before Xmas everything was in order. Now to wait for the Demo..!

And the demo, well singelplayer mode was somewhat a little letdown, but I had a Blast with the multiplayer!

Then the day I started to play ME3 I was as excited as I was on my first date!
Then some 40+hours or so later.. Everything is... I don't know, feel like all the passion I put in the game was in vain. I do not see any reason to pick it up an play it again, why should i, nothing really matters! and I was joking with my friends, that I would play it until summer came.

Even multiplayer, I started again yesterday, its like, ok I'm back, then i finish a tournament, and my Galactic readyness in 2% higher... Then i'm like, meh, whats the point..!

As of right now I have no desire to replay any of the mass effect games.
However, if and when I do feel up to it I may replay them.... but I certainly wont go through the ending. I'm just going to cut myself off and come up with my own ending.

I played a new game + still the same set of endings, so other than having a level 60 character with level 10 weapons, I suggest replaying as an alt

I just don't understand this attitude. If you like the rest of the games, just ignore the ending and like the rest. It's bad enough that BioWare didn't do the game justice with that ending, but in my opinion it's worse if the fans abandon a great franchise just because the ending was a major disappointment. I can understand not wanting to give any more money to EA for future DLC becaus of this, but not replaying the stuff you've already paid for? I just don't get it, sorry.

I took my Kindle today, and briefly considered not continuing with Mass Effect: Retribution (which I had started reading shortly before ME3 was released). But you know what? I still want to know what happens, even more so after all the references dropped in ME3. The ending didn't make me stop enjoying it.

Maybe it's just because I've played Dreamfall. I've got experience in dealing with an ending that was 10x more confusing than ME3 could ever attempt to be. :P

It's a damned bait-and-switch on Bioware's part.  And it is not appreciated.

Yeah except my Femshep didn't wake up, forcing me to play MP and buy a new ending?  Somebody wake me when they fix this debacle.
