Bullcrap, I can play again and I'm ok with this.

I'm with you on this.  I'll play again as much as I want.  I personally find all this furor over the endings hilarious.

The ending is not different from ME1 or ME2 ending. They didn't kill replay value last I've heard with those two.

Excuse me? Are you just trying to be contrary for fun or are you being super cereal here?

@darkshadow136 I know what you mean, it took me 6 days to get over the ending (yes I literally played straight through and beat the game). I was trying to finish an actual femshep walkthrough on ME2 after beating ME1, and just had nothing left to even finish that game. Much less any other game I owned. Though when I went back through the actual ending, as you will and everyone else who has seen the ending, you will notice from the journey that the elements are off, and something is just not quite right.

I have no desire to replay mass effect 3 at this current time, nor am I particuarly interested in dlc they may announce. It has been really offputting that a series developed on choices affecting the outcome ends with three nearly identical endings, regardless of what you did.

The only people defending the ending through a first play through are being ironic, anyone who knows ironic people, knows they are the most annoying at saying and doing things just to be different or considered original/cool ;p .....My best friend is an ironic person :(

Literally 3 to 6 days seems to be the down time to heal from how bad the ending hits you. LOL at the gallows humor involved, it is a nice way to torture fans who have had them slave for what has amounted to the greatest series in gaming for this time. Really I call the ending a mass effect weapon to the soul, leaving you in stages of shock, denial, calm, then finally acceptance.

It's not because the endings just suck.
It's not because Shepard dies.
It's because every decision I made up until that point mean absolutely nothing. I could have just as easily killed the Rachni Queen, left the Council to die, destroyed the heretics, handed over the evidence at Tali's trial, saved the collector base, and it all wouldn't have changed a single thing.

I immediately NG+ on both ME1 and ME2, consequently both of those had 60hr+ first playthoughs. Heck I replayed ME1 and ME2 probably a combined total of 15 times. ME3 I beat in under 35hr on hardcore with all but 1 fetch quest completed, something feels odd about that in and of itself. I reloaded the Priority Citadel:2 mission three times to get all of the endings... I thought I made the wrong choice the first 2 times. After being dazzled by space magic, plot holes, and a lack of closure, I had absolutely no inclination to NG+ or even dip back into multiplayer (which I found enjoyable actually).

Any good author/producer/director should know how to reach thier audience at the emotional level. After a few years of vested interest in the characters, Shepard, and making the story/universe my own, it's only natural to become "attached" to your own in-game avatar. I can honestly say that I was emotionally affected by some of the scenes of sacrifice in ME3(we all know the ones). This is a credit to Bioware's story weaving technique and narrative involvement with the player.

Unfortunately the endings ruined the replay for me and crushed my sense of attachment with the game. Call it what you want but I just felt a bit empty and betrayed by the ending. I told my girlfriend to put Skyrim back in the console, load up her save, and have fun because I wasn't going to touch it for a while.

Kills the replay value in every way.
Its soul crushing, I've lived and loved the Mass Effect franchise for close to 5 years and I can't bring my self to play any of them right now. It's just so depressing knowing that everything my Shepard does, every alliance and friendship built, every releationship, will be torn apart at the end regardless of my choices.

The Mass Effect game series is a masterpiece of sci-fi entertainment. The experience of playing trough ME3 is the single most emotionally powerfull experience I've had in any game so far. Which only makes the endings all that much more depressing.

I truly hope the endings are as many of us hope, a hallucination, indoctrination, a nightmare of self doubt in a moment of weakness, anything. A "place holder" ending inplace for the yet unrevealed real ending.

After the wave of depression goes away though, there is a bright glimpse, because if that ends up not being the real ending, just think how epic the real ending will actually be. All this did was lower my expectations, after finally getting over the ending.

What was I expecting?

Endings, where there are omen of a new Krogan revolt, because Wrex is dead and I gave them a cure. Krogans getting a bit more civilised because Wrex and his wife are in charge. Krogans getting exterminated, because I tricked them with the cure. If Wrex lifes, they manage to kill the Salarians and, if Grunt is still there, even a big part of mankind. Geth and Quarians getting along, going to war, killing each other. Or one side becoming the sole surviver on Rannoch. Racchni getting accepted members of the galactic culture or becoming a new thread. Turians rebuilding Palaven or preserving the ruins as symbol of their former grateness. The same for Earth and Humanity. Batarians vanashing or beeing saved as species. Asari blown to dust or getting reborn like the phoenix. Reapers getting totaly exterminated, forced to retreat in great numbers, or a whitchhunt for the last few reaper-battleships while these 4 or 5 heavily battered warships are trying to escape the galaxy or Reapers completing their harvest, perhaps with a few generation-spaceships escaping and giving the next circle a headstart depending on your choices over the three games...

What did I get?
Blue
Green
Red

So why to do a replay? It changes nothing and all stays the same. Your choices simply don't count.

Hmmm well the Rachni are still alive in my Universe...the Council mattered in my ME2 playthough and several lines in 3...the heritics and Tali trial mattered in the Geth/Quarian confict...The collector base had effects in 3 but it mattered to me & my crew in 2...
I mean really should I never eat again because really what does it matter I will just be hungry tommorrow and oh crap I'm gonna die at some point to...well time to sit in the corner and cry...=]

Irrelevant. The subject is on a video game triology.

The simple fact is that the endings leave no sense of closure or even gives any answers at all. The actual endings them selves are completely unaffected by your choices trough out the games, your choice only matter for everything leading up to the very finale of the series. At which point every choice will always be the same as long as you got the effective military strenght and reputation to reach all 3 "choices". Eitherway you lose it all right there.

Yep, just like so many others, I was looking forward to replaying the game with a different Shepard, but after that ending, just have no real reason to do so.

I also really hate the explanation for the Reapers.  I wanted something interesting, detailed, complex, and surprising behind their motivation, not the crappy reason we were given.

I'll let Mordin answer this.

Diagnosis of first 2 games reveals playthrough growth rise exponentially. Analysis of last game favours variables influencing a linear trend. Further study reveals such trend diminishes quality of first 2 games. Replayability - 0% chance *deep breath* problematic.

Space magic...i can handle a little. It does use mass effect fields...explained well enough but still magic. Now..i could only handle two playthroughs. 1..obviously to get a clue whats going on. 2. to go back through and save as many people as i could. 2 was better, managed to save a few more people and get a LOT more war prep. Even got the shep breathing animation.

I wont do it again until we have some sort of change on the ending though. I just ..have had enough. Mp i might touch now and then for some fun but...thats about it from now on. Not that bioware cares, they got my income. They WONT get my income for dlc (unless it fixes the issues). Not only that but ill never trust bioware again, so they wont get any more money.

It's been almost a week since I finished the game, and I just haven't been able to bring myself to pick the game back up again.

People talk about "boycotting" future DLC, but for me it's a non-issue since I simply do not want to play anymore.

I commend you for playing it through a 2nd time, especially with you view of the ending. However, I did get the breathing ending the 1st time, so I guess that was as good as it was going to get.

How can I do a "after we won" DLC?  The relays are gone, the Normandy is a pile of wreckage Some Where and Shephard is buried under rubble.  Brilliant idea Bioware, whoever came up with these endings needs to pulled aside for a little chat on what NOT to do.

I'm not even going to replay with my other shephard saves since there isn't any point, it will end the same regardless.

ZERO replay value. The three choices you're given have basically the same results. Thoroughly disappointing. Wish I hadn't spent so much time in the previous two games.
