There has been significant talk about gamer entitlement and the fanboy whining about the ending, as well as gamer entitlement, creative licensing etc etc etc.  None of this REALLY matters.  What matters is this.

Bioware (and all game developers) are a business.  All business is in it to make money.   Now with that said, here is the future outlook.

1) Bioware has already announced a Mass Effect Movie.  Based on the ending of this story this movie will not be successful, or at least not as successful as it COULD have been.  The bad taste that this game ending presents will not push the majority of people to even want to see this movie.
2) Discussions about ME MMO have started.  Again, based on the current ending, the core gamers needed to make this a reality is non-existent.
3) Future DLC which does not "fix" the ending will not be purchased.  At least not on the level that is necessary to make it profitable.
4) Future Bioware games including any possible ME4-6 games will be subject to careful scrutiny by the core gaming masses.   None of us will be willing to emotionally invest in future games since we feel betrayed.

The net effect of this is this cash cow that Bioware HAD, has been seriously injured if not outright destroyed.

Anyone can say anything they like about Bioware/EA, but I do not believe they are stupid.   Yes, they are entitled to the creative license to end this game anyway the want.  None of us are saying they don't have that right.  But by the same token, we the consumers are ENTITLED to not buy any future product from them as well.

Based on current sales figures Bioware sold approx 9 million copies of ME3.  That is roughly $54M (US) in revenue (not profit) assuming just the core game (not collectors etc).   Any future revenues off this franchise is now in serious jeopardy.

Is creative licensing worth the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue?  I don't believe any company, or group of investors would agree.

So the bottomline is this, If this is not a grand marketing scheme AND Bioware/EA does nothing to provide proper closure then this franchise and potentially Bioware itself is in serious jeopardy.

All for the principle of "creative licensing".    Sad.
