I like the appearance idea. Promote and it unlocks another level of appearance customisation. Gives a less random method of making your char look how you want.
Indeed. A great idea.

How about no packs, but you can upgrade 1 class, weapon or mod you already have? Gives a clear route to leveling up weapons and classes that are otherwise too rare to compete with common stuff.

I could go for this. But make it 2 levels of upgrade or add a bit of cash (20k credits, maybe? It's less than a silver, but a vet pack and a upgrade sounds good)

Think of it as a free respec card... it's not like it's hard to get experience, since you'll need to farm credits anyway.

The real probelm is that your char loses credit farming potential after
he's promoted. Your lvl 20 char can do silver and gold, while your lvl 1
char needs to do at least 4 bronze runs. You lose a lot of credits that way.

It'd be worth it if you could stop getting already unlocked classes in your spectre packs, lol

Well, it's a mechanic that Bioware can't change. Otherwise the MP unlock will have a finite life period.

I have a N7 170+ rating and just... no. Rating doesn't mean anything after about level 60.ShadowOptik wrote...
I have an N7 rating of 180 or something with almost all gold weapons to level 10. I have a huge problem with some players who are complaining of incentive. The system is placed to show players who have a higher N7 rating have more skill. I guarantee on a good day anyone with a N-7 rating lower then 100 cannot outperform me on the leader boards per mission.

promoting should give you about 100k credits or a free specter pack or something. atm its just pointless to promote your char >_>

I haven't promoted multiple characters, so I'm not sure if it keeps stacking 75 pts on each other (which is crazy), but beyond that what's your incentive to promote? To raise your meaningless e-peen num- err... I mean, N7 rank?
I think for every promotion you should get a free Spectre Pack unlock, or even a Veteran Pack. SOMETHING. The concept here being, you promote, but you start off at level 1 with all your old gear so you're not AS bad of a level 1 as you used to be. Wouldn't that be better reinforced by giving that person a GOLD rarity weapon/character? As it stands, I've promoted once, and I'll probably never do so again. Doesn't make sense.
