As I'm sure many of you are aware, the ending to Mass Effect 3 wasn't really up to scratch :crying:. I mean, hell, for all we stretched ourselves to get the best outcome, fearful that the entire end will go crazy like our first playthrough of ME2, but in the end the game that we all waited for failed to deliver. Don't get me wrong the journey there was unbeleivably fantastic, the powers, the choices, the paragon-ing your way to romance with practically any character, the unforgettable cutscenes spiced up by a quick-fire renegade interrupt. But in the end, whether it was EA's or Bioware's fault, the end was cut short. We, the player, were left with such a heavy sinking feeling, not like we had been cheated, but that we had worked towards so much, and had been given so little.

In this post, I'll show just what went wrong, and how I would have improved it:

1 The Problems
  • Shy Harbinger- Despite being the Head Reaper, and the surviving main antagonist of ME2, the ever awesome voice of Harbinger is never in dialogue in the final game, and he gets no more than a cameo trying to shoot you down. In fact, if you don't have the keen sight to see those glowing yellow eyes, its highly likely you'll have missed his appearence all together.
  • What Assets?- Despite being unnerved by the asset meter in the war room, our efforts to unite the races of the galaxy have in the end not mattered, as long as the bar is above minimum, you might as well have let the geth kill the quarians.
  • Where'd all those ships go?-  When all those ships entered through the sol relay, face it, we got prepared for an awesome battle, in the end all we got was the start of one, and that 2min cutscene couldn't hold a candle to the battle of the citadel from ME1.
  • Can't touch this- While we eagerly spent the game waiting for a boss battle, we get a ghostly boy, that we can't fight. I mean, the boss battle from ME2 wasn't exactly THE BEST, but it beat the crap out of the "catalyst" we got here.
  • At least it didn't cut to bla- As much as it makes sense to give shepard's story an end, really that abruptly? We want a full ending that wraps up the stories of the characters we have grown to love, not be left in the dark.
Next I'll show you how i would have done the ending, starting from where it all went wrong::wizard:

I could have been decently happy if they had left it at Shepard and Anderson watching the earth as the reapers were destroyed but NOPE. Bioware decided HEY LET'S BE GAY ABOUT THE ENDONG -_____-

Doesn't ME3 have its own forum? Unless you aren't allowed to post there.

There aren't many people who like the ending. It's nonsensical, downbeat, and doesn't even consider the implications of the mass relays no longer functioning. Impending economic followed by social collapse throughout the galaxy? It's cool guys, the Reapers are gone.
