OK so I chose the "perfect" ending. The one where Shepard lives and Reapers get destroyed.

-How was anything saved? Mass Relay explosion results in a super nova. That super nova made Normandy crash land.
     -Is this some kind of a huge plot hole?
        -why did they decide to destroy the relays anyway?

-After Normandy crash landed they end up on this jungle planet, and this picture with grandpa and a child shows after the credits. Did the crew of the Normandy all had sex and multiplied or....

It's not really explained, but I don't think the relays super-nova'd the systems they were in, they just kind of self destruct after dispersing the energy. At least, they don't look like the explosion in The Arrival.

There is no logical explanation. The most logical one is in the hallucination thread...

Some are arguing on "the perfect ending" The lack of explanation is one of the main reasons people are fighting for a fixed ending.

Here is my opinion:

It was actually very clever.

The ending of the game has several interesting notions that seem to hint at much more than what meets the eye.

The child we saw at the beginning of the game seems to re-appear at the end of the game - out in space - ontop of the citadel.

There is a lengthy conversation in which the child presents itself as controlling the reapers and ultimately offers Shepard a choice of what to do.

However - let's shortly go back to the very last part of the London level - in which supposively - after the head on run towards the reaper structure - nobody made it - and Harbinger killed all the marines.

Who made it? Shepard. Who else? Anderson.

At this point it becomes sketchy at best - 

An interesting theory is that the citadel section after London - is Shepard being indoctrinated.

The child is a fabrication of the Reapers - trying to coax Shepard into making a choice in which the reapers survive.

Another analogy here is the name "Catalyst".

In a general sense, anything that increases the rate of a process is a "catalyst" - in this case - perhaps the rate at which the Reapers complete their cycle of exterminating the galaxy - by using the 'Catalyst' for a final push to pursuay Shepard into keeping them alive.

It is a fabrication of the Reapers (incl. the Child) to try and control Shepard (in essence, what indoctrination is all about).

In summary - it is a cliffhanger - as players are coaxed into believing that what's going on during the last 10 minutes of the game, really happens.

The way in which we see Shepard twitch - when he destroyed the reapers - hints at a continuation as well.

Something else that many seem to be forgetting is that the reapers claim the mass relays as their property - in ME1 - and they are NOT made by the proteheans.

This suggests that by destroying all reaper tech - it affects the mass relays just the same.

I was paraphrasing the turian councilor. And he's right in this case. There is no explanation, just a whole lot of speculation.
