Is it true that you have to keep playing the multi-player to keep the readiness percentage?

I heard that it decreases if you don't play it? I dispise the multi-player aspect of the game but am trying to do it to get my percent higher than 50%. I'm gaining a slow 3% per match but will it go down if I don't play the multiplayer everyday? Man, I hate how the multiplayer is required for the "best" ending.
