Origin uses 100mb of memory

But if there's one thing we know from Steam, the problem with Steam is that it can take up to 150mb of RAM. This is not good. Origin on average uses 72mb, this is way too bloody much for a program thats supposed to run in the background, design a 'lite' mode on it or something. Just a thought.

Yeah I noticed the memory hog that
Origin is also. Why does something that basically does nothing but
facilitating your connection to multiplayer, take up 100MB of ram? That
sounds ridiculously excessive.
You mirror my thoughts, friend.

No but this game doesn't require a supercomputer to run... Hell, it's built to run on 7 year old consoles with 512mb of RAM. On PC the game wouldn't have been written with anything more than 2GB (because of x86 limitations, and, well because it's Bioware) anyway, so even with a measley 4GB of RAM (which, well, if you're not running with that amount anyway, you're doing it wrong) you'll be fine.
If Origin is THAT much of a hog though, try turning the in-game Origin off (in the settings somewhere), I've heard this helps at least if you're having problems with FPS and such.

COG Symbol > Settings > "In Game" Tab up the top > Enable Origin In Game ... untick it ... viola!

There is supposed to be a way to shut Origin down while in the game.

Your being rather ignorant. 2GB can easily be clogged up even if your as thorough as I am.
I have all processes off, I used config to shut down all services on every startup, the only liability is Origin.
I'm on Vista with 2gb, not everyone is full of cash. A 'measley' 4GB of RAM is a stretch in the imagination of alot of people here. My computer runs ME3 fine, I dont have issues with it. I have issues with Origin, a background software program, taking up 100mb of RAM. If this problem doesn't effect you, fair enough, you have no need to comment. But please if it doesn't effect you dont tell me 'I'm doing it wrong' because I can't afford a certain amount of RAM.

16GB of RAM is serious overkill anyway. You should be able to turn off Origin in game, click on the sprocket and there's a setting, supposidly. I have not looked for it yet, as I am not at home.

In my case, I was pleasantly surprised to note that Origin only uses 80-100MB RAM. This is not a resource hog IMO.

I have 2 GB and it takes up about 100mb, so not a big deal for me.

The memory it uses isn't a big deal. Its the system freezing at the app launching which is weird. I mean, I can't do anything for about 30 seconds... That is not normal behavior. The freeze only means that origin is using everything my computer can give for a limited amount of time, and it shouldn't. I mean, i've got a 4-core cpu... It also mean that it's using the hard drive at full capacity, probably for reading.

I'm not really sure what's your problem. I saw how much memory it was using so I reported it. That's all there is to it.EternalAmbiguity wrote...

I'm happy to say I haven't encountered that particular problem myself: that sounds rather irritating.xrogaan wrote...

I'm not saying you're lying or anything but that is DEFINITELY not normal behaviour.

Well I'm glad to hear it! No, it doesn't seem to be normal, it's hovering around 80MB now that I've restarted it so I figure it was a random memory leak of some sort. Yet another thing for me to keep an eye on, though...EternalAmbiguity wrote...

No it isn't, it's using 1/60 of your memory. That's infintesmial.
