A sincere “Thank you” to Bioware.

Thank you for creating such a fantastic game given the current state of the industry. Thank you for endeavouring to produce the highest quality in all things; arête isn’t something common these days. Thank you for trying to cater to everyone, from the most casual to the most hardcore of gamers; releasing the developer toolkit is something most companies shy away from. Thank you for stepping into your own IP and making it something truly noteworthy. Thank you for spending time creating a believable world steeped in its own unique lore. Thank you for spending time with the community; from developers, to writers, to moderators – the fact that you take time to even respond to some people here on these forums speaks volumes for your resolve. You show fortitude and respect where others do not do the same.
Thank you everyone at Bioware. You are Paragons of the games industry. Everything you’ve done in the past can only lead as example as to what you will produce in the future. May the stone hold you up, always.
Til.
With all the negativity and petty ****ing that gets thrown around on these forums, I thought it appropriate. If you feel the same by all means add to the thread. If not, let it be swallowed by the forum.

A great game with an exciting future. Let all the haters hate, I haven't been this happy or excited about a game in probably 10 years.

Seriously, we need to give these guys more than just negative feedback.
There is quite a bit of positive feedback on the forums, and even CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. You just have to dig through a ton of QQs and rants to get to it.
I'm sure in a couple weeks the forums will become much more productive. At least, we can hope.

Exactly why I felt the need to create the thread. After Dragon Age I respect Bioware more than any other developer, and I find some people here unconscionably rude when speaking directly to the people that produced this game. With any luck at least one Bioware employee will read this thread.

Let's not kid ourselves, people. The only "thank you's" that really matter to Bioware at the end of the day is the sweet jingle in their pockets from the sales of DA (which have been going very well as far as I know).
If the game had tanked in the sales dep't, no amount of "thank you's" or gushing praise from us devoted fans would amount to a hill of beans as far as Bioware is concerned.
Besides, most game developers have developed thick skins. Also, the game developers have a secret weapon...an added form of protection, in addition to their thick skins...the fanboys !!!
The most militant Bioware fans on this forum have adopted an attitude of "let's just dismiss it or ignore it" when it comes to the posts which are critical of Dragon Age in any way. Ever are they quick to rush in to battle with the words "troll" or "stupid moron" on their lips if anyone who dares to criticize rears their head on this domain.
"Never darken the portals of my abode again, Trolly Mctrollerson !"

If I were a developer at Bioware, who had spent the last six years of my life creating this game, and was met with some of the threads and language that gets thrown around on these boards, I'd go home after a 9-5 feeling pretty down. Sometimes saying "thank you" is all it takes to turn a bad day into a good one. I know they're only words, but it never hurts to thank or praise people when they truly deserve it.
I honestly don't think all Bioware employees are the money hungry automatons you make them out to be. It's not like the profits from Dragon Age feed directly into their pockets.
Credit where credit is due, I say.

This is exactly true. If bioware employees didn't care about what people thought about the game, they wouldn't spend time on these forums taking to people, or spend thier own time creating hotfixes for problems.
Where I work I am paid hourly, or by project (depending). The companies overall profits don't realy effect me. That being said I don't like to see people unhappy with my work, and a genuine kind word is always appreciated.

This is the exact mentality that I had in my younger, idealistic days. Boy was I in for a rude awakening.
That said, I won't stop you from doing what you feel you must, and as Stanley Woo pointed out above, I'm sure there are Biowareans who appreciate the sentiments.

Just before getting Dragon Age I did some retro gaming, playing Icewind Dale II. The comparison with Dragon Age is neat - great story and quest, but the jump in graphical quality and immersiveness is awesome.
Thankyou game developers, voice actors, music makers and everyone involved.

I second this and would like to say thank you as well. To me, Bioware is the Pixar of the gaming industry, the best at what they do, always striving to excel and improve upon their own works, with a rare and inspired artistry and grace. DA:O is an enchanting game, and I feel lucky to have the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate it.
So yes, thank you Bioware.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but BioWare did not develop the Icewind Dale series.jbowater wrote...

Are they mainly upset about the anti-dlc threads? Or about people criticising aspects of the game?
I don't think the DA:O post release forums have been that bad. Regardless of the quality of a game you will see a lot of negative reaction. And even people who loved the game will talk hypothetically about what they would have done better.

Since you were first working with black isle on baldur's gate 1&2 and icewind dale. I have collected and played every BG, neverwinter nights 1&2 MODS,etc. I could get my hands on. Like the Tales of the Sword Coast and the fan mod Dark Side of the Sword Soast and for BG2 no one will forget fan mod the Darkest Day.
I have always had a immense respect for your creation of a world of folklore, myth and legend yet making it seem as though it was a part of real history with writing so rich and storytelling so deep.
The characters are full of life and the enemies riddled with strife. Each game production endeavor has improved on the last and your most recent Dragon Age:Origins project shows your team does truly love the art that is game design with a subject matter that is truly intriuging. The pure chill the the blight ensues at the thought, the shakiness when an archdemon dragon is upon you. Man every enemy from agenlock to a hurlock is menacing. Not to mention the Hurlock Alphas they actually inspire the fight or flight syndrome. Mostly flight, but since we RPG'ers love the battle we charge on as you have BIOWARE.
Yes, I too thank you for your hard work and effort, and thank you for keeping the PC version having the total overhead tatical view reminiscent of my most favorite RPG Baldurs Gate 2, until DAO came out that is.
THANK YOU, brown nosing complete.

Thanks for NOTHING, Bioware. You made the gaming equivalent of CRACK, but didn't call my boss to get me any extra vacation time at work! You suck!

bayareadodger69-That was pure comedy at its finest. LOL> this game will truly need to have DA meetings and an addiction support hotline.
