Despite the initial launching issues, this game is already my favorite RPG of all time (awesome character interaction and story!), and given the toolset, I'm sure it will provide me with many, many more hours of entertainment in the years to come. A big thank you to Bioware and to all people who contributed to the game!

Thank You for doing it in DAO! I am also pretty sure that a lot of these little suggestions will be implemented into the game with forth coming patchs.
GREAT JOB & THANK YOU!

This is the first game in a long time that has held my interest and i wanted to keep playing it as long as I could. finmished my first play through and realized there was probably things that I missed but that's what going through and playing again is all about. can't wait to try something different out and see what it looks like.
If (when) the sequel comes out I know I will get it. Now I have another game to add to the list of games to cycle through (BG, BGII, etc.) and looking forward to it.
Kudos to you guys.

It's entirely possible that this may turn out to be my favourite game of all time. The current title holders are Baldur's Gate and its sequels, and I'm not prepared to declare the series dethroned just yet. But I suspect that in five years or so when Dragon Age 2 has come out I may feel more comfortable doing so :-).

On one hand, I understand why people feel motivated to make these threads, but on the other hand...these threads are not really necessary.
Let's not kid ourselves, people. The only "thank you's" that really matter to Bioware at the end of the day is the sweet jingle in their pockets from the sales of DA (which have been going very well as far as I know).
If the game had tanked in the sales dep't, no amount of "thank you's" or gushing praise from us devoted fans would amount to a hill of beans as far as Bioware is concerned.
Besides, most game developers have developed thick skins. Also, the game developers have a secret weapon...an added form of protection, in addition to their thick skins...the fanboys !!!![]()
The most militant Bioware fans on this forum have adopted an attitude of "let's just dismiss it or ignore it" when it comes to the posts which are critical of Dragon Age in any way. Ever are they quick to rush in to battle with the words "troll" or "stupid moron" on their lips if anyone who dares to criticize rears their head on this domain.
"Never darken the portals of my abode again, Trolly Mctrollerson !"
i totally disagree with this.
publishers care about money, most of the time developers dont.
imagine, if you will, a conversation that (probably didnt) took place when zeschuk and muzyka started bioware.
Z- "were doctors. we will have a comfortable life for us and our families and all will probably be well the rest of our lives. lets play RPGs and buy nice cars and houses..."
M- "you know, 200K+ a year isnt enough for me. we need to TOALLY start a development company that makes RPGs. we'll rake in tons of loot and get laid 24-7, because everyone LOVES D&D RPGs!!!"
Z- "what year is it?"
M- "1995 and EVERYONE plays RPGs all the time, we need to start pumping them out and cashing in!!!"
Z- "well, shouldnt we make a football game or a shooter then?"
M- "HELL NO!!! didnt you hear, that EA company that makes those weird madden games just went out of business cause nobody buys those weird football games???"
Z- "oh yeah, i did hear that..."
M- "anyways, heres the game plan, make a game called baldur's gate, rake in the dough, buy TONS of coke and then go out in a blaze of glory tony montana style, with an m-16 with the grenade launcher option in our billion dollar houses!!!"
now dont get me wrong, bioware knows their name is gold right now. but they have earned it. but dont tell me they only do it for the money, if they did, they wouldnt be making these kinds of games. theyre one of the only few developers left who are more concerned with creating an awersome story that caters to nerd style gameplay.
so yes they do deserve praise because no one else is making games for us anymore. the only companies that touch anything near an RPG anymore is if there are three little letters before, and thats MMO.
i have played 4 decent story RPGs prior to DAO in the last 10 years!!!
fallout 3, mass effect, KotOR and KotOR2... half of those are bioware games, and 3/4ths exist because of bioware...
yeah theres a few other decent RPGs, but when bioware puts out a game its a god damned event. i mark my calendar a year before and set aside a whole day for launch. thats the kind of games bioware makes. i know when i play them my gaming perspective will be changed from there on out.

I was thinking about opening this kind of thread, myself.
Before Dragon Age was released, I used to whine and complain a lot in the old forum, voicing my opinion that the game would suck, that it would be dumb and commercial and childish (because of that "violence trailer" with the Marylin Manson music, and some of the silly character interviews, and all that....).
Thankfully, I was very, very wrong. Turns out Dragon Age was a victim of false advertising - the game is NOTHING like those fake trailers would make you believe. I'm slightly disappointed that they'd think such wonderful rpg wouldn't sell if they showed it for what it really is..... but who cares, when what is important is that Dragon Age is superb.
It has excellent characters, clever dialogues, a very good and fresh fantasy lore, well-developed gameplay.... it's magnificent!! I never would have expected for this videogame to be so good, and I must really apologize for having been complaining and ranting so much in the days when we were waiting for its release date.

Bioware created the best RPG games out there. Congrats and thanks
They didn't make Fallout 1 but if you don't take it into account then that's correct.
Dragon Age is a magnificent game. It may not be perfect but that's the most fun I've had playing a CRPG in years. Kudos to you and to T1l for making this thread!

It is pretty pointless to be upset with your customer loudly.SeanMurphy2 wrote...
I am curious about the morale of the Bioware devs.
Are they mainly upset about the anti-dlc threads? Or about people criticising aspects of the game?

Behind the scenes, yes of course, devs are humans too.
But you should never admit it, thats really bad.

Last time I played Baldur's Gate 2 was last year, 10 years after the release. I think it's very likely that Dragon Age is a game I will reinstall 10 years from now to play again.
Oh my God. It has been ten years hasn't it. Oh those were good days back then. Waited for so long for number three to launch, but never did. I'm glad to see this though, great game!

I was ill when it finally got released so spent my time in bed and loaded up the game. I'm hooked. Completely and utterly. I found myself trying to stay awake to just play out the next part of the storyline. I got emotionally attached to several of the characters. I wanted to know anything and everything about them. I ended up buying both David Gaider books (thank you!) just so I could learn more about the story.
In short, this game was nothing I expected and everything I could wish for. Sure it has glitches and bugs, but I don't think I've ever had a game that didn't when it came out. Honestly though, the absorption of the storyline took me in so easily I could pretty much overlook any of the flaws.
Thank you Bioware, for creating a game that I could really PLAY. Thank you Sir Buliwyf for pestering me into submission (Bioware, you shold payroll that guy, really, I think he nagged half his friends into buying your game.) and lastly thank you Steve Valentine, for breaking my heart!
