  I feel stupid then.

Tis good that you feel as you are.

Oh, Tis?   It was short lived.  You made me feel much better after sounding more of a jack ass.

Ahhh, another Morrigan hater.  Welcome!

Don't want to ****** on your parade but the word tis is used repeatadly in Shakespeare, and is also found in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

'Tis but a scratch' 'A scratch?! Your arm's off!'

Yes, but "Tis good that you feel as you are".  is a direct quote, from Morrigan to Big Al.

This is an excellent thread. I had been playing around with the idea of using Starfang on my AW but on looking at the arguments, Spellweaver just sounds like a comparable sword in stats alone (slightly more suited to a defensive role), and positively epic for an AW as that +5 to magic sounds rather potent. Is there even any magic staffs that hand out that kind of bonus to casters?

I'm probably going to have Starfang as two-handed and give the thing to Sten. Alistair can have Keening.

+5 to magic, as far as I'm aware, basically translates to +5 spellpower, with the bonus that it affects potion strength. Unless magic does something else that I'm not aware of.

If you are an AW then spellweaver for sure. Get the 1hd version of starfang and load it up with runes and give it to allister. Then you can make good use of both since only you (most likely) will be able to make good use of spellweaver. Or if you use Sten more then get the 2hd starfang. I hardly use him so I got the 1hd version for allister.

Oh, Paralyze runes do NOT stack on the same weapon.

Why wouldn't they? Every other rune stacks.

QUICK REPLY:

MELEE: 2H STARFANG >>> KEENING >>>>> SPELLWEAVER.

MAGIC: FINAL REASON >>>>> SPELLWEAVER

SPELLWEAVER POINTLESS because when you melee, you take KEENING, when you cast spells, you INSTANT SWITCH TO FINAL REASON.

2H STARFANG = BEST SWORD IN GAME and should be equipped on your party's 2H WARRIOR to maximise its effectiveness.

KEENING + FADE SHIELD = best melee combo for Arcane Warrior I find so far. When casting spells, instaswitch to Final Reason.

Oh, certainly you'll have to edit Keening as apparently the game thinks Arcane Warrior does not meet the "Warrior" qualification requirement of the blade. Which IMO is pretty dumb given the name, the spirit and the powers of this specialisation.

Spellweaver for sure, it's made for arcane warrior and if u can pair it up with the shield fade wall, awesome combo.

Theres a neat Project called Winter Forge that you can upgrade all the weapons that you love that are lower tier to tier 7. Doing this would make Spellweaver much more competitive with StarFang. You can do much more with the Forge but I feel the only fair thing is editing the tiers. It gives you a much better selection of Endgame weapons

Oh and if you are using the best line of spells aka COLD then final reason is not the staff you want, Winter's Breath with some +cold damage gear turns you into a cone of colding, winter's grasp powerhouse

To be fair, if I'm going to start editing things I might as well just make myself a new sword entirely.

Why ask me why? I'm not the programmer or designer. I am however reporting what others have said. <_<

Well you could always just equip both... switch to spellweaver when casting, then switch to starfang when in melee.

Also, unless you have another AW in your party, there's no pt in giving spellweaver to anyone else. So you might as well use it yourself.

For AW, Malc pretty much laid it out, sounds like he is a very experienced AW.

My PC was 2H and did 2H starfang, GDD of 139 at level 20.

WHat are some of the GDDs for weapons others have?

I just used 2H Starfang since I couldn't use any sword and shield talents with a 1H Spellweaver and I couldn't Dual Wield them since I didn't have access to those talents either. Also, since Spellweaver still makes you sheath the weapon EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS YOU DON'T HAVE TO IN IT'S DESCRIPTION (!!!!!) I used Starfang.

being that spellweaver is only a blade for arcane wariors only it, really cant be campared to any others. as such i wish it did more base damage.

whats the point of a bade if you dont whack stuff with it? want to do as much damage as possible

Starfang is technically better but you don't want your eggs in the Starfang basket if you're moving on to Awakening because it won't import.

even more reason for spellweaver to do more base damage. i know of no other weapon for arcane wariors only, so it really should be better damage wise. the other stats are great as is.

Doubt it. Eh, I'd go with Spellweaver. The base damage isn't too much worse. Now that I'd think about it the spellpower is probably better anyway. Won't it improve damage from a weapon enhancing spell anyway? The extra damage to flaming weapons might overshadow the lesser base damage anyway, but I'd have to crunch the numbers.

It depends on your character (Warrior,Rogue or Arcane Warrior)...

These powerfull swords can't be compare to each other, SORRY.
