Nothing is true of what the OP is saying. It's just a fan-fic. There is no proof that this is true.

In the early leak, the endings were indeed different from the current endings, but not vastly different. The Catalyst had a different name, he was named the Guardian in the early leak. His explanation for the Reaper cycle was also different. Instead of protecting us against synthetics, the Guardian (Catalyst) wanted to protect us against dark energy. That's pretty much the only difference between the old script and the new script. Nothing else was different.

The choices in the old script were exactly the same as we have now, though the were described a bit different in the old script. The old script had labeled the 3 choices as: Destroy the Reapers, Control the Reapers and Join the Reapers. In the old script's endings, the mass-relays didn't blow up and in the old "Join the Reapers" ending, Shepard became a reaper himself.

OH SH-

I'd have taken these endings in a heartbeat. And I'd have made damn sure it would be D that I got.

Don't know if what the OP says is true or not, as he even says, 'take it with a grain of salt', but it certainly sounds a heck of a lot better than what we got. Sounds more logical, has more relation to your actions in the game, and a more satisfying resolution over all.

The game ending is so off the wall that its like they brought in a different writer - fresh out of high school - to write the ending.

The main point isn't whether this was true or not, its that the existing ending SUCKs, and something better would have been EASY to do.

The proof is how messed up the ending is that they released.

Well, whether true or not, still would be a much better ending. I always felt that the end was changed right after the part where Shepard was talking to Anderson. But if this was the truth I don't see why they would have changed it, the excuse "EA told them to make it more open" doesn't sit well with me. I think it's all too easy for people to say EA's influence was the main reason why the ending sucked.

i dont know EA have a pretty bad track record with these kind of things.

fits so well i'm inclined to believe this

Really would of been a satisfying resolution to a great saga, how could thy leave it as is and release it......... i don't understand the logic.

The endings posted sound more along lines of what Bioware wanted to do, I would have waited another month or two for these options, instead of the mishmash of randomness that happens in the last ten minutes.

That last ending would have been wonderful.

It's like Bioware just wants to troll us.

Games are always being refined, you can find this in any popular medium. When LOTR was being filmed they would often times rewrite entire scenes to work with the vision they were creating. Most of Iron Man was actually improv. This is nothing new in any industry.

This would actually be a sensible explanation for why such good writing was thrown away all of the sudden in a ****** poor ending. This seems far more in line with what was advertised originally. Only part of the game that feels rushed is the ending, this would explain it, and I know some people have suspected something like this anyways.

It doesn't make the current ending any worse or better, at worst it makes the situation more frustrating.

I'm just saying it makes sense as a logical explanation as to why the ending we got was what we got. Doesn't fix it though.

Yeah and honestly, even though I would try my hardest to get D on my canon Shepard, I would definitely play through the trilogy again many times and try to get every possible ending.

I'm starting to think some sort of conclusion will be coming. I can't believe anyone at Bioware thinks this is a satisfactory ending to the series. The only hitch is if its paid DLC. I won't pay for just a revamped ending, but I'll consider paying for a playable epilogue.

In my headcanon leading up to ME3 I wondered if the origin of the Reapers stemmed from one of two things:
  • Either the Reapers, at the height of their organic civilization collectively decided that the only place to go up from there would be to synthesize themselves with synthetics and that the cycles were used as a means of reproduction
  • Or that the Cycles are the result of faulty AI rationalization. The only way to protect organics from the danger of synthetics is to ensure that they never reach a point where they come into conflict with AI's they develop. Or something.
But hey, since I'm obviously wrong, I wouldn't have minded these endings.

It just sucks, because I love this game so much and I love this series so much and I really don't want it to be remembered for nothing more than having a terrible last 5 minutes.

Dark energy and preventing organic species from stopping evolution. Give each race the time to shine then wipe them out so the next may rise.

lol proof

Op obviously said it to rack up post counts.

Those endings are **** as well because they made the same mistakes as the original

Harbringer's not main antagonist of ME3.

He only appeared til the last maybe 30 min to blow things up

There's been virtually no build up or indication he's gonna be the final boss of ME3

In fiction, this = nonsense.

The antagonist of ME3 are TIM and reapers as a whole.

Harby was the one who kept on saying 'We're incomprehensible to your puny human brains" in ME2

Did he suddenly have a change of heart?

DId he shiz brix after seeing the crucible?

Make no sense why Harby would start conversing with Shepard again, especially when he's done that in ME2 and the convo went nowhere.

Nothing will ever make sense so long as the cycle bullcrap is still in the game.

I'll admit this fan made ending is better than the original, but it still sucks.

That's how bad the original is.
