If this is true, I actually applaud the writers for Mass Effect. In a way, they indoctrinated the players and showed the sheer force of Reaper indoctrination. SO MANY signs point to this being true, especially the holding his head like he has a headache (when he has blood oozing out of his torso). Also those tentacle like black things, I mean it's like what the Rachni queen was describing.

Exactly - plus I think it shows a totally new side to shepard.

It would be an awesome plot twist.

Well that is why I don't really understand why everyone is reluctant about the indoc theory.

I'm soooo glad I found this topic since I was going to post about the same exact thing. Before I even beat the game or heard about the endings I read the codex on indoctrination about halfway through my first playthrough. Immediately thought that Shepard was indoctrinated. It just makes sense with all the clues hidden in the game.
Why would they even have those dream sequences in the first place? They're never explained except when you wake up and have to tell Liara or whoever that you're thinking about the people back on Earth.

We surely remember from ME2 that even a 2-million-years old and supposedly dead reaper wreckage will still be able to indoctrinate people. We also know that Harbinger itself was able to control the - albeit already indoctrinated - Collectors even from outside the Milky Way.

Shepard himself/herself has had many contacts with Reapers and Reaper tech over the events of ME and therefore lots of opportunities to succumb to subtle indoctrination. Hell, Cerberus could have even used Reaper tech on Shepard during Project Lazarus.

So yes ... indoctrination does make sense. I also noticed the space kid AI almost smirking when watchung shepard choosing the "control reapers" option in the end whereas space kid simply disappeared during the "destroy reapers" choice.

Thing is ... the indoctrination process must have been planted into shepard way before the ending ... maybe as some kind of Reaper dead man's switch.

In addition - seeing that the Illusive Man was indoctrinated - and Udina working for the Illusive Man - it was another attempt of the Reapers to try and prevent an insurrection of all the races united against the Reapers.

I think at this point they are afraid of Shepard - and what he has become. A symbol of Hope.

Their success of finally gaining control of him - opens an entire new possibility on where this story might go.

I absolutely love it - because while we were all expecting the Reaper War to be over - Sovereign always said in ME1: The cycle cannot be broken.

But perhaps Shepard will be able to break free from his indoctrination.

It's such a good plot twist in my opinion.

This would be so good. I mean, so very new in video games and really even artistic.
But it would mean we bought an unfinished game and they really control us, like when we are allowed to finish our game etc.. Unlikely.

I wish they wouldn't wait til April to clarify things. And I don't mean to "clarify" this pile of steaming ****. I want a DLC that continues after the ending, and I want to get into the role of my Shep again, not just watching any text cards explaining to me the circular logic of space brat.
