The irony behind Marauder Shields being the last boss joke, is that on insanity he really is the hardest encounter.

I had more trouble with the 3 husks on insanity. I kept missing their heads. I blew Marauder Shields head off after 2 or 3 shots.

Try going for body shots. You pretty much have to headshot the husks, but I believe you can pass Marauder Shields without so long as every shot hits.

I just finished an insanity play through and it took me a few tries to get past this part. I admit it is frustrating. You just can't miss a shot when the Marauder shows up. I got a couple of body shots in, but IIRC most were head shots.

Yeah keep hitting him and pretty much ignore the bars. Mine just suddenly dropped dead with half a blue bar. Guess I hit the eye.

I beat Marauder Shields by sticking to body shots. Once you get him staggered, it's pretty east from there.

What? lol you really had problem with that? I pass through it by shooting randomly. Guess I was lucky.

you have to hit the marauder in the head. this staggers him givig yo time to put enough shots into him to drop him.

I had to watch the IGN walkthrough of this part to figure out what I was doing wrong. Body shots didn't seem to do much for me it was headshots that made all the difference. Particularly that sweet spot right at the neck and chin area that seems to cause the consistent stagger if you can hit it.

My experience is rather odd. On Insanity, there are times that he will just die in 4-5 shots. But there are times when he just refuse to die.

That few times he became immortal, I tried head & torso shots. I do not see much difference. I shot it in the head 3x in a roll (yeah I saw his face lighting up, I didnt miss) and took out 2 bars of its shield. Same shooting position in other loads, his shield is gone or very close to gone.

Oh there was one time, I staggered him 3x until he fell onto the beam. Guess what, he will immediately kill you if he falls too close to the beam. Cant happen right? I mean, got shot all the way back to the beam and still alive? >.<"

Sounds like a glitch to me. I just beat it on insanity, and the Marauder went down just as quickly as on normal. I'd just reload an older checkpoint and try again. Good luck!

He tried to save us. We honor his sacrifice.

what I want to know is what do i have to do to get the cursor to turn red? I've had the cursor pointed square at the center of his chest and have the cursor be blue, shoot and nothing happens. Other times I've had the cursor pointing at the empty space above his shoulder, it turns red, I shoot and does tons of damage.

How exactly are you suppossed to aim with an interface like that?

Everyone was saying it was so hard but I was wondering why he never even shot again, which made it really easy. I didn't notice the staggers. It did take 2 attempts since the first time the game decided husks would keep coming despite the fact they were missing their heads.

Like i said. There is no connection when I play it between whether or not my cursor is pointed at him and whether I hit. I have to point his general direction to hit him. But I can shoot him square dead center and miss. And shoot the empty space next to him and hit.

No point in even trying to aim as far as I can see. Just close my eyes and shoot and I hit just as often.

And the fight is just too boring to keep trying for me. I'm sure I could accidentally hit him enough times in a row if i kept trying over and over. But I'm really not seeing the point. I played an adept for a reason, and it wasn't so I can play a sniper mini-game. :(

As i said, i aim square in the center of the head and fire, and it misses. I aim to the left of the head at the empty space next to it and I hit. Other times I aim at the head and it hits. Not sure it is suppossed to work that way, but it isn't about aiming. It is about trying to counter the constant swinging of the cursor to keep the gun steady. Doesn't seem to matter where you aim it, only that you hold it steady, and hope that it really hits what you point it at.

The maruder just needs to be hit in order for him not to shoot back - just hit him anywhere.

hmm. you aren't reading what I'm saying are you...

You say "just hit him anywhere". I am saying "i point the damn cursor right at him so he is clearly in the cursor and press the button and often what happens is....it doesn't hit him at all.

I understand that I have to hit him. What i'm telling you is i point the cursor at him and push the button and it doesn't hit him half the time.

In other words: on the PC, on insanity difficulty, the swinging around of the cursor is so over done that what the player sees on the screen and what the game thinks the current state of the cursor are, is frequently not the same thing.

I was about ready to throw my controller out a window trying to beat this section. Finally I gave up and set the game difficulty to Narrative and one shotted the marauder, then immediately set the difficulty back to Insanity. As soon as I walked through the portal I got the Unwavering achievement (completed all single player missions on insanity).

Reading other forums, I've heard people state that they got the Insanity achievement (beat the game on insanity without changing the difficulty) by doing the exact same thing. If achievements are what you're worried about, I would suggest simply changing the difficulty down to Narrative, one shotting Marauder, and switching it back.

Amusing note: the three husks do not even spawn on Narrative difficulty.
