My opinion:
As fans we were promised a "fitting end to Shepard's story," and the choices we were provided were the farthest thing from that. I'm not saying they should change it because it's not the ending I want (maybe a little but not entirely), but the fact that it's hardly an ending at all. The endings we were left with left little to no closure as to what was happening and as it ended I sat in my chair, my only thought being "wtf...." The condition of my Shepard was alive but I have no idea where. My squad survived but crashlanded on some unknown planet. But this raised more questions than it answered. Where are they? Where is Shepard? In a pile of rubble yeah but is he still in london, cause that's definitely not scraps of the citadel. Does anyone know that my Shepard is alive? Do they plan on getting him? If yes, then how? The mass relays had been destroyed so how do they plan to get to me? For a different game this ending might be ok. Maybe for a game that's in the middle of a trilogy, but not for Mass Effect and certainly not the conclusion to the trilogy. This is a trilogy that has spanned over 5 years and turned into a simple tale about an already well-known commander who made a name for him/herslef and then it turned into an epic where everything you do impacts the fate of the entire galaxy, and we as the fans deserve an ending that fits this. Not some vague scenes of the current status of the galaxy after you make your decisions. We as fans have made some sort of emotional attachment to both the character you created and those that they interact with. I need to know where they are and if he's alive, if my Shepard will ever get to see them again. That is if the indoctrination theory isn't likely. Looking back it's really the only option that makes sense. The whole thing seems like a dream sequence and when Shepard woke up, he was in rubble on London (it appeared). If he truly was on the citadel, he would not have survived the explosion, or entering the atmosphere. The problem with this though is that it's even less than of an ending with even less closure than accepting that the entire end sequence happened.
My Suggestions:
First, I know that the ending needs to be fixed or at least expanded on. I read this the other day and it seems very well-written but I would still add some to it. For those who want to support and look at this here's a link:

As previously stated, I just want closure. Also this is assuming the final scene is not a hallucination. I know a happy ending might not be in store, but if the right choices are made we should get something close to one, not the supposedly "perfect" ending that we were provided. First I would love to see your war assets active, not just some passive number that determines whether or not Earth is destroyed, kinda as described in the link I posted. I wanna know what happened to my squad and where I am, and I wanna know how to get to them or how they got to me. The best way to do this would be like they did in Dragon Age Origins. Cut scenes or an epilogue letting us know what the hell happened after the fight with the Archdemon.
Assuming the indoctrination/hallucination theory is correct, however, it would be entirely different, and after thinking about it, this theory actually makes the most sense. Shepard is in a weakened state and Harbinger is attempting to indoctrinate you to take you out of the picture (unlikely when he could just fire his laser again but not impossible). The final 3 choices are something you're doing internally to break the indoctrination. And you imagine your team made it safely to the unknown planet. For all we know you could be on the Normandy because there doesn't really seem to be any rhyme or reason to who gets off the ship. Then you wake up back in London, trying to recover from the Reaper blast. I can't really add to this considering if this is what they had planned then I doubt anything I come up with will be better than what they have. I just hope they end this in a good way and wrap things up so that we aren't sitting there questioning everything that just happened. The thing that makes it all seem like is indoctrination is that comm chatter before you get up and walk into the beam says that nobody made it. There's the few cases where architecture on the citadel looks strangely human made, when its supposedly older than the Protheans so it wouldn't look humanoid. The fact that Anderson sees the rooms before you is possible but you don't see him, his voice could be voice that Shepard hears from the indoctrination shaping what he sees. Plus the whole thing seems dream-like to me and I have no idea how Liara got from being in my squad on London to being on the Normandy. All of it just seems a bit off to me. Another thing is that I read something a while back saying that this isn't the end to mass effect as a whole just a conclusion to Shepard's story, and I find it difficult to believe that they can continue the series and the lore without the mass relays. Finally, after the credits, you see a kid talking to his grandpa about "The Shepard" and he ends by saying "tell me another story." If your Shepard did take that breath, this alone could hint at DLC that the story still has to be finished. That extra story could be DLC to the true ending of ME3. If they really did plan the indoctrination thing, then kudos to them and I'll forever respect them as the gods of trolling, but I highly doubt this is the case.
