ME3 IS HALF as long as ME2

I don't really think the "hours to completion" thing has much merit. The quality in those hours is much more important.

ME1 - Drive around boring repetitive planets in a tank searching for random stuff to pick up as well gathering side quests: Around 40 hours with the two DLC missions included. Bear in mind Pinnacle Station lasts a few good solid hours.
ME2 - Visit every damned planet to scan for a side mission as well mine resources that is so damned boring I want to fall asleep and get the 100% in every damned system. Roughly 36 hours with ALL DLC included.
ME3 - Visit every system to get assets, do all side missions, talk to people, wander around the Citadel marveling at the sight - 32 Hours.
I sure as hell enjoyed playing ME3 then the other combined. Sure it's not as long, but it has much higher quality.

And yet, compare main missions alone:
ME1
Eden Prime
Citadel
Therum
Feros
Noveria
Citadel
Illos
Citadel
ME2
Lab
Freedom's Progress(I think thats the name, brain fart)
Recruit Garrus
Recruit Mordin
Recruit Jack
Recruit Grunt
Citadel with Councilor Quotes
Recruit Tali
Recruit Thane
Recruit Samara
Collector ship/Recruit Legion
10 Loyalty Missions... 12 counting DLC
Horizon
Collector Base
ME3 to avoid direct spoilers, I'll list missions by Race and Out of Order
Humanity
Krogan
Turian
Quarian
Asari
Council Space
Planet in the Sol System
Council Space
Familiar Planet from previous Entries
Another Familiar Planet from previous Entries (DLC)
A Space Station of sorts
Humanity
The amount of main missions in ME3 is less then 2, yet the side missions in 3 (note: side missions, not the N7 missions or the non cinematic dialogue quests) add up to a more fulfilling experience.
Ignore the ending of ME3.... (hard as that might be for some people)
ME3 is as good as it is because it is closer to ME1 as far as tighter storytelling goes. ME2 was amazing, and yet the progress of the game was sloppy considering how you could be doing loyalty missions in the middle of a suicide mission. (Anyone do Jacob's LOST mission when the rest of the crew is captured?)

But as for normal listening to everything playthroughs, 3 Full Playthroughs to get to 60 on ME1 took me roughly 55hrs, With the first Playthrough being 32hrs, ME2 with all DLC racked up I think 35 or so hours and ME3 took me 38hrs (35 hrs really....fell asleep playing once..11hrs straight playing can do that...)
So no I dont think ME3 is too short, rather, just right.
although I am interested to see how quick I can beat it in the future after I finish a few more playthroughs for posterity

After what you said I think you are right. Considering about 35% of the first game was exploring in the mako. Then the second game had planet scanning which was about 20% of my time. The third game kind of streamlined this and let you focus on the story of each mission.

ME1 wasn't THAT big.
Granted I've spent hundreds possibly thousands of hours on the ME series, but I dont think i've EVER had playthroughs go more than mid 30's in hours..and thats TRYING to find stuff and pad the time

It took 36 hours to complete Mass Effect 2 on Hardcore for me. It really depends on how long the player takes their time in the game.

ME1- 50 hours roughly
ME2- 60 hours, 75 hours with dlc.
ME3- Haven't beat it yet, but I'm at 48 hours and just got done with the geth dreadnought mission. And there's still quite a bit to go I hear. This game is definitely as long as 2 if not longer.

Why is nobody complaining about it? I finished the game with 90% readiness in 25 hours, I clocked in 45 hours in me1 and 42 in me2
I may have skipped one or two missions but that is not 20 hours of content, maybe by doing a completionist playthrough I could have squeezed in 3-4 hours more.
And how many hours of multiplayer did you play to get that 90%?

I did everything in ME2. Beat it in 36 hours (Veteran)
I did everything in ME3. Beat it in 32 hours (Veteran)
Nope, not half the length; more like around the same length.

I do have to wonder if you guys just dawdle around though with these one playthroughs taking 45+ hours.

Yeah. You could probably add on more time if you are listening / reading codex entries etc.
I do something kinda strange: I don't run around everywhere. I actually like to walk (when walking would make sense) you know, around the Normandy, Citadel (sp) etc. Some gamers like to run everywhere because they want to hurry up, I guess. Maybe my games are longer because I like to walk??

I'd say running around the Citadel and doing the fetch-quests took a great portion of the time.

Am at hour 35 now in ME3 and getting ready for final assault.
So for me they're about the same length.

To be honest, I think the missions in ME3 are miles beyond ME2, and even ME1. I enjoyed them so much, some of them really make you feel powerless in the war as you watch everything fall apart.
