ME1 is the shorter game if you remove all the mineral scanning. ME3 took me around 35 hours (Hardcore difficulty) and I did everything I could .. Yet I missed a lot of stuff (Considering what I see right now in my second playthrough) . I have seen some ppl playing on youtube and I noticed the big difference..

yet have seen gamer polay trhough the beginning and was mesmerized abour how much material they were missing. Many 'V' cinematic or banter between companions and even quest.

Sometime you think you don't miss on a lot of stuff but you actually do. ME2 with most DLC take me around 55 hours. I consider myself an advanced player (seeing has how much time I played each ME).

The average gamer missing on stuff and playing at normal difficulty will probably finish ME3 in around 30 hours. ME2 was around the same without any DLC.

Some ppl stack up stuff before turning all of them without reading anything. Depend of your playstyle , difficulty and your knowledge of the whole frigging game.

It took about 28 hours for me to complete (normal difficulty, not 100%, no DLC) ME2, and I project I'll finish ME3 in 2 more hours, so probably 29 hours for that.

ME1 took me about 60 hours.
ME2 took me a little shy of 80 hours including all the DLC.
I'm currently 23 hours into the campaign and I'm only on Tuchanka for the first time.

Why is nobody complaining about it? I finished the game with 90% readiness in 25 hours, I clocked in 45 hours in me1 and 42 in me2

I may have skipped one or two missions but that is not 20 hours of content, maybe by doing a completionist playthrough I could have squeezed in 3-4 hours more.

Erm, took me about 40 hours all up, maybe longer by the time i did the last stretch.
Besides, planet scanning in ME3 was faster then it was in ME2. A lot of ME2 was spent sitting there running a scanner over an image of a planet on the screen.

I think people are missing a lot of stuff because of the new auto dialogue feature... I think... maybe.

It depends, the data varies through-out as you can see. Alot of people claim Skyrim is 300 hours long and more. But I know some people who detest the game and have only played it for 20 xD

Then there are things that I like to call 'time consuming mechanics.' ME1 had those lifts. ME2 had the scans.

But overall in my playthroughs, ME2 lasted me a good 30 hours whilst ME3 lasted me 23/5. ME2 though, had those time consuming mechanics and also, that playthrough includes DLC.

Both games took me 35 hours, and I don't go into the codex much.

Actually, I finished my last ME2 playthrough on Normal in about 25 hours, in the days leading up to Mass Effect 3. And I did nearly EVERYTHING in the game, including all of the DLC missions (Overlord, Shadow Broker, Arrival) If you just no-life it like crazy, the game gets a lot shorter.

How does everyone take so long on Mass Effect 2? I beat the game, did all the sidequests, had way more resources than I needed, only had looped conversations with the crew, saved everyone, and beat everything in the Cerberus Pack in 30 hours on my first playthrough. I have no desire to see how quickly I could do it, because one playthrough was painful enough.

What? I spent less time on ME2 with DLC (Around 35 hours) than on ME3 without (38 hours).

The reason ME3 takes as long as ME2 is because you're running through the same areas again and again (far more than in ME2). It's a trick to make the game seem longer than it is, while the amount of content is significantly less than in ME2.

I don't know, but ME games always take me quite a while. ME took me about 40-45 hours (including BDtS), ME2 took me about 55-60 hours after doing all the DLC and scanning forever, and ME3 took me about 45 hours. I honestly can't believe people who claim they played the entire game and did every quest in 30 or less hours.

ME1&2+3 have a lot of hidden content so you could spend nearly 50 or more hours playing the games

I didn't notice any real difference in the length of the games. My play-time on my other ME2 character (about 30 hours in all) was longer than on my first, which was pretty similar to how long ME1 and ME3 took (about 20-25 hours). That second character was the one I did the DLC content with, so that is probably why.

Either way, without looking at the time, ME3 probably felt shorter because you were often running around the same places (Citadel!), and never got stuck mucking about with silly mini-games like hacking, cracking, scanning or whatever, that plagued ME2.

It's probably true that I missed a good bunch of quests along the way. I mostly focus on the main storyline, and solve whatever quest I pick up along the way. I guess sometimes it just feels a bit weird to have Shepard come out of a meeting with, say, the Council shouting that 'we have to do something NOW!' and then saunter off to help some random guy with his Inconvenience of the Day. :P

Took me about 2 days to complete mass effect 3 on insanity which was roughly the same time it took me to complete ME2.. But ME2 there is also the added bonus of having longer loading screens and that damn scanning mini game so in terms of game play to game play length I'd put ME3 as the slightly longer game. That or I’m insane and have no clue what I’m talking about.

Took me around 30 hours for all of the games (average, I believed it was 37 on ME2.) I don't know how people took 80ish hours for ME2. Did you scan all the planets or something? Quantity and quality are really different, I mean, the ME1 Mako roaming was...boring. Driving the tank was fun and all, but there's nothing there to really do except drive.

Honestly the Citadel quests are really quick and painless if you know what you're doing.

Of course i go back to the citadel after every priority quest to see if there's new dialogue, etc... so that may pad the time for me

I took about 45 hours to complete my play through. I completed the main story in about 30 hours. The other 15 hours were used up by completing quests given on the Citadel, speaking with my crew, gaining bonus powers from the crew, enjoying the view from certain planets, visiting the shops on the citadel, and a lot of other random things.

I spent about 11 minutes listening to the Blasto movie xD

I'm going to do a second playthrough where I try to be as thorough as possible looking to clock in about +50 hours.

Insanity on Both games, pulled straight from the Import files:

Mass Effect 2: 46:11 (inc all DLC except Firewalker)

Mass Effect 3: 34:59

Mass Effect 1: 88:03 (Not a New Game+)

I think a big reason is, Mass Effect 3 has only one (Two if you count Normandy) Hub worlds. Mass Effect 2 had Four, and obviously Mass Effect 1 had a lot more open exploration.
