I bought the disc of Mass Effect 3 for PC and when i install it i find that it runs on Origin without the disc and i can even download it on other computers without the disc. My question is what exactly stops me from returning the disc to Amazon for a refund and still being able to play the game through Origin? Normally my morals would stop me but after the ending i really don't care. But for legal purposes i will state i am not planning on doing this i'm just curious.

Because now that you registered the game its unreturnable. A game is nothing more than a license. That license is now registered to your account. The game disk itself was always worthless. In fact, you didn't even need it to install the game. Origin would have downloaded the game to you once you registered the code.
That code is what you bought and is now owned exclusively by you. You can't return it.
