Since this email address, help@EAMobile.com, was in the ME Datapad help section I sent them a message. All I got back was an auto-response to go to https://help.ea.com, which is NO help at all. Maybe if we all emailed them we may get noticed.
Below is what I wrote. If we all respond with similar errors maybe they will hear us.

Dear EA Moble

I am writing to you about problems with the Mass Effect Datapad and Mass Effect Infiltrator IOS app.

In Infiltrator the Origin login seems to be consistently buggy. Even though I have network access and type in the correct Origin login and password it rarely connects and sometimes locks the program.

In Datapad there are many errors.

The Alliance news does not work at all it hasn’t, I believe, since on iOS6 came out. It consistently gives this error:
Facebook Syndication Error
The feed URL is no longer valid. Visit this page to find the new URL, if you have access: <a href=”http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=256213217787402”>http://www.facebook....13217787402>/a>

Mail: Seem to work fine. However, nothing has been added to reference the DLC’s that have come out.

Media: Is out of date. They don’t show all the new videos from the DLC’s. While we’re at it why not add all the ME1 and ME2 videos and update the images to include the new images as well as the images from ME1 and Me2 as well. A better organization would be nice as well especially if you add the ME1 and ME2 pictures and videos.

Galaxy at War: This has constant connections errors. It constantly says”
Mass Effect ™ 3 Data pad: Mass Effect ™ 3 Datapad requires an internet connection. Please ensure you are connected to the internet and try again.
or
Mass Effect ™ 3 Datapad: EA Mobile server is currently unavailable doe to maintenance or capacity limits. Please try again later.

When I can get logged in it is constantly dropping connection or it pretends it’s connected when it isn’t.

On the few times I can connect many times I have to press buttons 10+ times before they respond. Other areas of this app I do not have this problem.
Once we have completed all the in-app upgrades please allow us to transfer the money to our multiplayer account as there is nothing else we can do with it.

The Codex are out of date and do not include any of the new DLC codices.

Also please note that many on the android platform are looking play the ME Datapad.

No, there wasn't. Apparently there's an update in certification, but it would have to go through both EA and Apple. Both of whom could kill it.


@Shades - this is the part where we all descent on live support and spam them all to hell with Datapad issues.

Once you've opened the Galaxy at War, tap the screen until you hear the sound effect that occurs when zoomin in to a specific sector of space.  Then wait unti the "can't connect" message pops up, click okay, and then the "back" choice.  You should zoom out to the full Galaxy at War map, and can set your fleets to work as normal.

That's my thought but we all have to be consistant in telling them what is wrong with the app and what new features we want to see. Chances are that any update we get will be the last one ever. ME4 will probably have a different app if it has one at all.

I think its dead. The codex is the only reliable feature. It'd be cool if there were more pictures on there too.

Having problems with the me3 data pad, keeps telling me there is no Internet connection so it won't load the galaxy at war map so I can redeploy my fleets! What do I do about it?

Oh thank you for the work around, I've been having problems with the Galaxy at War for months now. Finally I can get my fleets back to 100%

The tapping thing definitely works. And I sporadically get e-mails from the game. Wish they would fix it but it looks like it's on it's way out.

Is bioware going to shut down the app? Or can people still use  the galaxy at war part of the app for there fleets.

Well it's listed under EA Games as the publisher, so I think they get final call on that.  And for that answer, I refer you to Councilor Nappa.

"EA would have to be pretty evil to do that.  And I'm not gonna lie, I like the cut of their jib."

Seriously though, I don't think they're going to for the forseeable future, but whenever Mass Effect 4 or Mass Effect: A New Hope or whatever they're going to call the next game is announced, I'd probably say it's going offline.

I then received no further contact until today, when I received this message:

I should say, in the intervening time I had uninstalled the Datapad app (because it didn't work) and got a new iPhone. After I received this response, I reinstalled the app, confirmed it had the same problems, submitted new screenshots to confirm this along with a reply which I will admit may have been slightly irate, since by my perspective I got "it's not our fault" from an escalation after over two months of complete silence.

Surprisingly, I received I prompt reply to this. Less surprising is its content:

I am going to send this information to the Expert team so that they make fix this for you. I do not have a time frame to give you as currently issues our handled in the order that they are received.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation. Please be assured that your concern is our priority.

So I'm back to waiting for the next escalation level to eventually get around to looking at my case and responding to it. If they feel like it. When they get around to it.

And probably doing nothing to get the issue fixed.



Hopefully by March I'll have some kind of a response. Maybe they'll actually escalate it to the app dev team.





I have to say, this has not exactly been a trust-building experience.


When I wrote this, three months ago... I did not think I'd still be waiting for a response in APRIL.

Also, they apparently closed the case instead of escalating it. So when I contacted EA Help, this time about being unable to refer to the case record for it... the rep said they'd give me a NEW CASE ID.



I'm really not a happy camper right now.



EDIT:
 And the rep gave me a new cas number and ended the chat session without a word.

Case number:  08533423

They did earlier give me this canned bit:

We have a specialized team that handles these issues. This team is 10AM-10PM EST, Monday through Saturday. Please call us at 1-866-543-5435, select the option for an existing case, and enter your case number ""

(complete with blank spot for case number.)



So I'll be calling tomorrow. And we'll be getting the old case reopened or imported to the new case number or something. There is no 'or else'.

So I called! I called and followed the automated system's command to input the case number. The new one I was given yesterday.

It didn't recognize the case number, with or without the '0' at the beginning.

Lol this app is garbage. No wonder EA received worst company in America again. I remember his app being great when ME3 was first released. Despite the workaround, this app should at least be updated. I saw Last updated: April 12 and was excited..... until I read 2012.

Want to increase my armor and get better weapons. I won a battle and acquired an alien weapon but as I played along it did not appear in the game. How do I get to use that weapon again ? I was just shooting where the first big black flying creatures were seen. (sorry I forgot the name) It was here I saw the new rifle and was planning on using it.. I have a lot of time on my hands recovering from back surgery and this game is helping to spent the long hours in fun. Thank you for the development of it.

This appears to be the end of my six-month hell-saga with EA Support regarding the Datapad App:

Hey {Volkai},

I did in fact see a ticket since October actually as you stated. I am so sorry we were not able to find a resolution to this issue you are running into with the Mass Effect 3 Data Pad. I would love to help but sadly, this product is no longer supported and has been sunset. I know it was a really cool application to use as I myself was trying to use it but unfortunately this is more then likely the reason as to why it was not working correctly for you.

Please let us know if there is anything else we could do for you my friend. Thank you very much for your time and patience. We really appreciate your willingness to work together with us on this issue.

Looks like it!


I have yet to receive another response from EA Support so yeah it looks like Datapad is dead.

What a waste.

They put some of it on the web! http://social.biowar...actic_readiness you can now deploy fleets as in the app and view codex - no mails from crew but at least some of the code has been saved.

It's a small thing, but thanks BioWare :)

Seems to run for of separate from the app--having both open I can deploy 10 fleets instead of 5.
