The Mass Effect trilogy is the most beautiful and most touching games I've ever played. But...

...they got the ending all wrong.

"Oh, it's this thread again." Some might say. But I just had to express my feelings about why the ending should be changed. But I do understand what BioWare was trying to do. There's nothing quite like a grim-dark, dramatic end. Those ends are usually the ones people tend to love. We love seeing something end with a bang!
But it seems like they didn't quite get it right this time. Here's why:

The Mass Effect trilogy is more than just video games. They are an experience; a journey throughout the galaxy that millions of people throughout the world have come to love. BioWare delivered a trilogy filled with epic actions, as well as emotionally touching moments. We admire how well BioWare made the universe as well as the characters themselves. But while the point of the games is to stop the Reapers, we are also given the option to actually communicate with the beautifully crafted characters and squad mates. Some has always been at your side despite the difficulties you're going through, and that is just touching. I can speak for us all when I say that BioWare got everything right. They did the impossible...well, almost.

There's something else that makes Mass Effect superior to other games. One of the big plus with the games is that BioWare gave us freedom. We build our own story, choose who lives, who dies and how things turn out. We know that one option could help us in the future, but sometimes we find ourselves pausing the game and thinking about the situation we're in; whether we should do something or not. Should we help the person, or shouldn't we? Should I make a sacrifice or shouldn't I? Whose side am I on? And so on...

All those options has made most of us feel like we're actually the ones trying to save the galaxy. We feel like we are Shepard, and that is exactly what BioWare wants us to feel like.
As we play on we actually feel responsible for everything that happened or is about to happen. Even the smallest, most subtle decisions could have a big impact in the future.

We start caring for the characters and squad mates as we move on, especially when they tell us about their personal problems and how they trust Shepard to help them. We feel like we mustn't fail them, and we try everything we can to please them all. Especially the ones we like the most.

I also want to point out how amazing it was to unite the races together. Despite the hostility toward each other; Such as the Krogan grudge against the Turians and the Salarians, or the Quarians against the Geth, I was able to put a stop to that. Seeing the Krogan and the Turians help each other out against the Reapers on Palaven surely touch my heart, and I have no doubt I'm not the only one to feel that way.

But throughout the games, we found ourselves trying our best to make the right choices, especially after the announcement of Mass Effect 3. Most of us played through Mass Effect 1 and 2 over and over again to make different choises, just to see the results in Mass Effect 3.

Some of us waited since 2009 for continuing the epic saga. Some waited since the release of ME2 on PS3. But we all wanted, no, we were all determined to defeat the Reapers and bring peace and order to the galaxy once again. The death of the child in the demo added further sadness and hate toward the Reapers. I vowed to myself to destroy them all. "But I planned to live to tell about it."

Mass Effect 3 was voted the most anticipated game of 2012 for a reason. For a good reason. This is the game we had been waiting for. We were ready to take on the Reapers and we were all determined to make sure to get the best possible ending, or at least a satisfying one. Most of us kept our saves to import to ME3 to continue the saga.

But unfortunately we didn't get what we expected. It was like opening a beautiful and well decorated box, only to be punched in the face by a red boxing gloves...

After everything we did, after everything you made us put through. After all the time we spent playing and after all the money I supported BioWare with by purchasing all of their Mass Effect 2 DLC's. After all their promises about a satisfying end, and after everything else, they gave us an ending that was completely against the main element of the Mass Effect series.

An inevitable disaster. All the choises we made, everything we did, and we got an end where nothing we did mattered at all. I could've rushed through the games and still get the same ending. You gave us three choices, but all of them led to the same thing. A disaster. A complete disaster.

Even though I do like a grim-dark ending (in most cases) I still couldn't believe how betrayed I felt. It just ended so...empty. Practically nothing was explained, there were a lot of plot holes, and some things didn't even make sense. There were no happy endings, and no communication with your squad mates, and  I personally was looking forward to speaking to my LI after the war. See what they had to say. The relays were destroyed, thus, completely killed it for another Mass Effect game. (At least I cannot see how a new game can be made without them.)

I really appreciate for everything BioWare has done for us. They brought us a trilogy, better than Star Wars or Star Trek in my opinion. They allowed us to craft our own story and make our own choices. They put a lot of efforts into the games, and the actors did a terrific job, as well as everyone else.

But I just seriously hope there's an explanation for the ending.
