Hello All,

Here's a list of the Known Open issues we are tracking. We'll provide updates and information as we receive it.
Many answers can also be found here https://help.ea.com/...t/mass-effect-3

Make sure to have the latest drivers for your network, video, and sound hardware.

You can set ME3 configurations prior to launch by doing the following:
1. Go to C:/Program Files (x86)/Origin Games/Mass Effect 3/Binaries (default)
2. Run the MassEffect3config.exe

Disabling Origin In Game may help with random crashes. Setting can be found in Origin settings under the In Game tab.

Other applications that have game overlays (Fraps, MSI afterburner, Xfire, etc) can cause your game to crash or other issues. Make sure these types of applications are disabled if you are experiencing problems.

UPDATE: A Pre-Release is available that may potentially solve your issue. More info on this post http://forum.ea.com/...st/8275831.page

1. Disc Read Error

There is a known issue with the latest version of Origin 8.5 which is impacting customers who purchased Mass Effect 3 digital download from retailers other than Origin. During installation, these customers will likely see a message indicating a “disc read error”. If the customer simply clicks “Try Again” in the error dialogue that should bypass the error and continue the installation. We are aware of the issue and hope to resolve it soon. Meanwhile, if the problem persists, please visit help.ea.com.

2. Mass Effect 3 Downloads From Amazon

We’re aware of an ongoing issue impacting users who purchased a PC digital download copy of Mass Effect 3 through Amazon.com that is causing some users to experience failed downloads when trying to activate and install the game through Origin. In some cases this error will cause Origin to crash.

If you’ve experienced this problem, just restart Origin and press the “Download” button under Mass Effect 3 in you’re my Games tab. If this fails to resolve your issue, please contact Origin Help.

3. Mass Effect 3 Crash Immediately After Launching Mulitplayer

Note: Only apply this fix if you are crashing shortly after the "Connecting to EA Servers..." message closes. This work around may affect images at the top of the Alliance News Network screen and certain images in the Multiplayer Store.

Workaround Steps
1. Open Notepad as an administrator. On Windows 7 type "Notepad" in the start menu search and right click "Notepad" in the results and select "Run As Administrator"
2. Open the hosts file, usually located at C:\\Windows\\System32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts
3. Backup your original hosts file.
4. Add the following line to the bottom of your hosts file: 127.0.0.1 me3.goscontent.ea.com
5. Save your hosts file
6. Run Mass Effect 3.

Nvidia videocard owners may want to try to the following:
1. Open nVidia Control Panel > 3D parameters > Global parameters
2. Select “High-performance Nvidia Processor” for your GPU

4. Problems starting Mass Effect 3

1. Update to the latest Origin Client
2. Reboot your computer
3. verify you have admin rights
4. Check for updates on ME3 by righting clicking the game tile.(sometimes repair install will also fix the issue)
5. Try to launch ME3

5. Origin Bypassing Disc Install and Downloading Instead

1. Update to the latest Origin Client
2. Exit origin (verify it is not running in task manager)
3. Insert disc 1 into your drive and wait for the autorun dialog box to appear and run setup( or run setup.exe from the disc)
4. Origin will pop up and log in.
5. Enter your code if prompted (and haven't done so already)
6. installation from disc should begin.
Note: that this will not work if you have a partial download already (it must be deleted). A patch is downloaded toward the end of disc installation.

User Egermano has posted the following work around.
Here is a workaround that worked for me. My DVDs came with Mass Effect 3 packed in standard multipart .zip files, named "Mass Effect 3.z01" on DVD 1 and "Mass Effect 3.zip" on DVD 2 (yes, part 1 is on the second dvd /sigh). If your DVDs have different content, you have to figure out how to copy files yourself.

1. - If you got to this thread that probably means that you already activated your game in Origin, and started the download. If not, do so, and exit Origin.
2. - Backup and delete all files in following folders. Leave the folders and subfolders intact:
[Origin Game install folder]\\Mass Effect 3\\
[System Drive]\\ProgramData\\Origin\\DownloadCache\\ (or the appropriate subfolder of Application Data in Windows XP)
[System Drive]\\ProgramData\\Origin\\DownloadCache\\{ [your mass effect 3 account email address] }
3. - Copy "Mass Effect 3.zip" from DVD 2 and "Mass Effect 3.z01" from DVD 1 to a temporary folder. You may skip this step, if you can handle multipart archives from DVDs.
4. - Extract the zip files to [Origin Game install folder]\\Mass Effect 3\\ . You can use WinRar, 7zip, Total Commander, etc. Some files will have CRC errors, that not a problem, click OK/Continue.
5. - I'm not sure the following is needed, but I did it anyways: I've cleared "Read-Only" attribute from all files in Mass Effect 3 folder using Total Commander.
6. - Start Origin and resume/restart download (which should last only a few minutes now). If you get problems (Installation failed on 99%) that means that you haven't cleared everything in step two.

6. Direct X Issues
1. Re-installing Dirext X seems to fix most of these issues.
2. Peripherals may impact installation of direct x

7. Date Check issues
1. In Origin, right click the ME3 game tile
2. Select repair install
3. This should repair the installation to bypass the date check process.

8. ME3 crash with awc.dll EAcore.dll If you are having a crash issue with Mass Effect 3, you may need to download a patched version of the awc.dll and EACore.dll files in your game’s EACore folder.

Here’s the instructions:
1. Make sure Origin and your game are not running.
2. Download these files here: https://download.dm....sertest/awc.zip and https://download.dm....test/EACore.zip
3. Unzip or extract the contents to your desktop.
4. Navigate to the binaries\\core folder:
a. Mass Effect 3 default is: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\Core
5. Make a backup copy of your AWC.dll and EACore.dll files
6. Move the new awc.dll and EACore.dll files from your desktop into the directory listed above.
7. Now run Origin and launch your game from Origin.

So, is everyone waiting around for Bioware to fix things for them, or have you tried one of these and your problems persisted?

Thanks for putting these up, while they may largely be Origin fixes they do influence ME3 indirectly.
None of these affect my game issues unfortunately.

Its amusing though that EA is providing Tech support while Bioware feedback is relatively little. It seems that many would have benefited from these fixes if they were posted here rather than at the publishers forums....

There's a link that specifies more ME3 issues at the top of the original post. It just seemed like everyone wants to **** and expect Bioware to fix everything. The nature of software is it is impossible to predict (or test) every possible hardware combination to determine what may-or-may not create conflicts.

I've tried ALL of them. Yet another re-install today after the Origin update caused problems on my machine.

I'm off to try a registry edit.

I am at the point where I am either going to downgrade my video card drivers, or edit the registry. I just don't know what it is that is causing the problems.

UPDATE
: Rolling back my video card drivers does not seem to be helping.
