I'm trying very hard to keep my hopes up that Bioware has something in the works since I just can't accept that they did not see a reaction like this coming. They know people like happy endings, they know there are going to be people out there like us who would be raging, frustrated or upset by the ending being not really an ending at all. So my honest opinion is that they didn't want the conclusion to the game, and let's face it as it stands now there is no conclusion or resolution to the ME story it just sorta ends, and to prevent someone from datamining as others have suggested they have withheld the ending, given us something to generate discussion (being polite here) and that when they make the big reveal and then announce DLC ME3: The Last Stand or what ever it will be called will be greeted by a tidal wave of fan relief as we finally get the chance for a proper Mass Effect style ending.

Or at least that's what I'm hoping, other wise I might just stop my current play through of the ME series and not look at them again for a long long time.

It's implied from the tweets that our community's reaction was foreseen and purposely planned for, presumeably to maximize the impact of the apparent 'proper' DLC ending. The only hint of anything going sideways is that BW mentioned that they didn't expect the reaction to be quite as strong.

Best case, this whole fiasco ends up being one of the biggest gambles in gaming history, or it remains one of the biggest fiascos of gaming history.

User 8: "Do y'all have any ETA when more news will be released? Dying for news on a new ending/DLC."
@masseffect: "No ETA yet, but you will be updated via Facebook and Twitter when the news is available :)."

That just seems like a huge tease/troll if I've ever seen one.

@jakefinn94 Mike Gamble already said on his twitter, if the fans knew what was in store, the reaction would be different.

These are the same people who promised that the ending would be "satisfying."

It was not. For them to now posit that reactions would be "different" is as reliable as the first claim.

It's not.

That tweet just rubs me wrong in all possible ways.

I go on other forums with people stating how it looks like we wont be getting the ending we desire, but then I look here and makes my day. I seriously want to call mass effect 3 one of the greatest games I played but cannot until I have closure, Prehaps there is hope yet!

I find it very hard to believe them after they promised a ''fulfilling'' ending in the first place.

Well, any release news on "the real ending" "The Truth" or whatever will probably wait until at least a few days after *every* release worldwide is hit and roll for a few days. Problem is, the longer they wait, the more the anger festers and the greater the number of players who just won't care if the cake is real and on it's way.

Screw multiplayer, I didn't buy this game for multiplayer. I didn't invest in the series for multiplayer, so why the Hell would I do it now?

User 7: "Its not that the ending was taken in the wrong direction its that it makes NO SENSE. Ashley was on the Normandy? she [was] with me."
@masseffect: "Probably a good thing to be cautious of."

This strangely gave me most hope, so there is something not right about the ending!

To me, it seems their clearly hinting things are not as they seem, here.

Really, I don't need a happy ending. But I need bloody closer. And some of the bigger, more prominent plot holes need to be plugged. Hard.

This thread above all others gives me hope Bioware has an ace in the hole. If what everyone is thinking that they have some big DLC plans for the true ending in store I will applaude them, as it is probably the ballsiest thing I have seen anyone story telling medium undertake. I doubt any novelist would write an ending like this to generate debate amongst his/her reader base only to release the final chapter as a short story later on. But hey, if Bioware wanted to do something big and totally unexpected to bring Shepard's storyline to an unexpected, dramtic and (hopefully) satisfying end this a damn original way of doing it. I just hope it doesn't damage their reputation as a company. I also hope that if the much prayed for DLC is coming that it is indeed free, as it would be a huge duck move to make people pay for it. But even if I have to shell out money for it, I will do so.

Based on some of the Twitter responses and MG's own 'If they only knew' response, I am starting to wonder if their plan all along was to have the fans write the ending for them. This seems to be their 'clever' little master plan. Show an open ended, cryptic ending and have us fill in the blanks through the 'theories' being presented. Something about the way they keep mentioning just how close they are following the feedback has me convinced of this. Of course, if that is true and they truly wanted to wait to write the ending only after a proper sample size of feedback was received, we would have to wait quite some time to get it.

Between this and the potential dlc leaks/rumors, I'm starting to gain hope.

I just hope it doesn't amount to nothing.

This annoys me no end everytime I read it.  Are BioWare devs BLIND or stupid?  How in the hell could they have not expected or predict this reaction from people upon seeing that ending with no indication the game would continue?  If there is another game continuing from "the breath" he takes before the credits, why the hell could they not make that obvious?  They are correct, if WE KNEW WHAT WAS COMING, the reaction would be different! Worse decision in gaming history!

Then they need to just SAY:

We know what we're doing. We'll announce more details after more have played it, but you'll all feel better. For now, please chill.

That's it. That's definitive enough.

They don't have to say more than that and the raging would drop by, like, 90%.

Just, really, stop playing around with and teasing a ton of PO'd people.

I still don't know what to make of the situation, but that is a very key word. THE news. Even if Bioware really doesn't have any ending DLC plans, I really would like to believe they aren't so heartless to lead so many of us on like this. The long-term damage to their company would genuinely hurt them

Reputation is more important than people think, and losing tens of thousands of fans because of bad PR will really hurt
