USER: Don't you think it's depressing that people hate the ending so much they grasp onto crazy conspiracies like indoctrination?
JM: I've read TONS of the theories and I think they're well researched and interesting. But I also enjoy literary analysis . . .

USER: Anderson and I are toasted, everyone else is dead.
JM: What's going on when you enter the beacon?

USER: Game was 99% perfect, the 1% ending is what I don't get. Shepard is a notch beyond hero, so why would he give up so easily?
JM: Why do you think he/she gave up?

USER: Hi! Congrats for the game, it was quite fun! But why did you choose such an open end? It's a bit uncommon for BioWare games.
JM: Not really my place to comment on the dev side of things :) keep an ear out though!

USER: I don't think it is a gut reaction. It is just reacting to events which occurred. Seems reasonable to me.
JM: It's much more complicated than that.

USER: Well, I just really want good things to happen. Instead, everyone is stranded in Sol.
JM: No matter what?

USER: Not asking for spoilers, but why was the dialogue about family cut from the Shepard/Anderson talk? It was so tear-jerking.
JM: Not everything makes it in for reasons that are beyond my expertise to explain :)

USER: You are doing a great job, but some of us would like a definitive answer instead of vague hints, thanks :)
JM: My channel is spoiler free for now so it's hard to be not-vague :)

USER: Are you guys at BioWare holding back The Truth on the ending? Feels like there's more to it no? ;)
JM: What do you think?

USER: What would you say is the one thing in the game you love?
JM: Well, I'm trying to be spoiler free, so I'll be vague.

USER: I'll trade a free hug for spoilers . . . pwease :P
JM: Hug will have to wait a little while :(

I'm sorry, but "USER: You are doing a great job, but some of us would like a definitive answer instead of vague hints, thanks :) JM: My channel is spoiler free for now so it's hard to be not-vague :)" seems to hint there's some kind of announcement coming. Who knows?

If they weren't going to add new DLC they'd just say so. They are up to something.

The question is... What will the DLC's content be?
Multiplayer maps (yay cause that's what every loyal fan wants) or something that explains/justifies/corrects/destroys the abysmal final five minutes of an otherwise solid game?

Who knows?

So far we don't really have any reason to believe @masseffect's tweets as the truth, but it's the only thing we've got at this point. And I want to stay optimistic.

Especially given that, post-game, you're dumped to the point just before the Cerberus assault.

Yeah, I thought that was a very strange place for you to end up after finishing the game.  However, since that assault on Cerberus kicks of the end of the game, and Shepard dies at the end so you can't really expect to end up on the bridge like in ME2, that's also actually the most logical place to get dumped for extra DLC missions.

This is such a great go-to thread for keeping track of news; at this point, BioWare devs are definitely concerned with the ending and fan reaction to the ending. We could brush off early tweets as a lack of awareness, but the hints are becoming more obvious and blatant.

Still not sure what Hudson's team has been working on for the last two months, either, after the game went gold (I doubt just Omega DLC).

Twitter feeds indicate something is going on behind the scenes, but I don't know if this was planned from the start or if they've decided to go forward with a post-story DLC as a result (which would explain why they're gathering feedback about the end itself - though they could be reworking aspects of said DLC based on feedback).

I, for one, would love the Indoctrination theory becoming true because it would essentially bring the consequences and choices of Mass Effect into real life. The last game to do this, beyond separate ARGs and the like, was Metal Gear Solid 2. And that was only in pre-release trailers that faked Solid Snake as Raiden.

I'm also stunned by the charity. No matter what the end result of all this is, fans should be proud of what they've accomplished for others - I actually think that's far more special and powerful than any ending ever could be.

User 4: "Are
you holding something back, that could quell the large amount of
frustration from the community, a tiny hint would be enough."
@masseffect: "Mike Gamble already said on his twitter, if the fans knew what was in store, the reaction would be different."

Then, in 1 month's time, Bioware releases a $10 DLC that contains a new assault rifle and a new pistol.

There was a tweet this morning that said

User: The game was amazing up until the end. Any idea when you might be able to say something about an upcoming dlc?
ME: No new information about that concern. But we'll post some information as soon as it becomes available.

Which to me sounds like they have something in the works and just aren't ready to tell us yet

@masseffect: "Thanks for the feedback. What are some things you'd like to see?"

Their sudden interest intrigues me.

I've noticed this too, there are a number of responses asking what they would have liked to have seen in the ending. Maybe hope isn't dead?

at some point yesterday their tone changed entirely. Before that all I ever saw them say was "thanks for the feedback we'll pass that on to the devs." Now we're getting more and they are almost teasing us with some responses.

Forget the indoctrination theory, the trolololo link it's the best "proof" we have that we haven't played the ending yet.

I think the owner of the Mass Effect twitter account is playing us. He's obviously under the demand from BioWare to not answer questions, so when we ask questions, instead of answering them with a clear "yes" or "no", he stays intentionally vague.

I don't want to be a party-pooper, but please folks, don't get your hopes up too quickly. You're in for a disappointment. the owner of the channel obviously just tries to give answers without really giving answers.

With the types of responses @masseffect is giving, I'm getting the impression they hired a bunch of psychologists to man the field by mind****ing us with cryptic mumbo jumbo.

That. Or if (hypothetically) the indoctrination theory is true, they're messing with us. Bioware's forte is the plot twist, after all. We've been getting it since Baldur's Gate 1.

Let me join the club. That was the most unexpected twist in the games I've played. And my first BW experience too.
