User 6: "Fans are people too. Playing with their minds isn't that nice as it may look like to people from Bioware."
@masseffect: "We're not playing with anyone's minds, we are answering what questions we can and recording what feedback we receive."

So my thought is... what are they getting at here?

The sixth quote seems less trollish... and more like pure pr spin.  Starting to seem like they didn't see this coming and are just stalling.

Anyone else keeping track of @masseffect's tweets?

So far these have stood out:

User 1: "I still want to believe you guys are sneaky trolls and have something going on you don't tell us yet. Can I get a cryptic reply?"
@masseffect: "The sun, it shines. "

User 2: "You are either a massive sadist or a beacon of hope."
@masseffect: "Can't it be both?"

User 3: "I kinda feel lost after that ending...not what I expected and left me feeling everything done was for nothing."
@masseffect: "We know it's a lot to take in! But hang in there. Your decisions matter."

So my thought is... what are they getting at here?

Best case scenario? They had some sort of plan mapped out for an extension to the ending and are using this controversy to drum up more sales.

Worst case scenario? They have no plan, are trying to save face, have no plans on doing anything, and are still using this controversy to drum up more sales.

So basically, business as usual.

I'm not sure I am convinced what exactly these tweets mean, but this sounds pretty accurate.

Another possibility is they are just using this to buy time while they figure out how exactly to fix or respond to this (meaning, they have no plan but are trying the best way to conduct damamge control).

Most likely just the PR trying to buy time though, I doubt there's some big master plan behind this.

User 5: "I loved 98% of ME3..but something has to be up w/ ending..too much talent at BW for that business. Keep my saves?"
@masseffect: "We're keeping our saves, that's for sure."

This part intrigues me the most.  I had wondered about something like that already.  I haven't been posting hear too long and I certainly haven't read as many of the posts as there have been already so perhaps someone else has alluded to this already, but when you beat ME3 it makes a save file that you can import again.  It has recorded data and after you beat the game it says enjoy the DLC of which there is currently just From Ashes.

I've pondered whether or not an add-on is at all likely.  I've calculated the probability of them being total teases vs. them being just plain bat-**** crazy.  A consensus has not been built, but I think that any fan will take things like this, however cryptic they may be, for what solace they offer.

Though I do recall reading another user commenting he longed for a world without DLC.  I feel understanding towards his comment.  It just seems... irregular to reserve the ending until after the game's been out.  I mean.  Halo 3's ending I thought was rubbish, but at least they included it in the game.

I think they're all right on the money. People are jumping the gun FAR too early. How long has it been since the game was out in the US?

Long enough?

A whole week?  You really expect them to say ANYTHING spoilerific after a mere week?

So, basically, it is now completely acceptable to give closure on a series via DLC?? Am I mistaken that it was said in the past that ME3 was going to be the last for this paticular story arc? If so, then we can only assume DLC and not another game down the road (as far as Shep is concerned, anyway). Any main plot closure should have been in the core game, I.M.O. DLC should only offer that on a smaller level or just extra side quests, not the be all/end all of tidying up the entire story. If they truly have something planned to explain away all of this, then they probably should have been more careful on what they promised prior to the games release.
You think this will help sales? I don't. Hell, even if I concede your idea: it will ultimately blow their brand to ashes to do something like this.

"I swear, if they have something stored away, I will eat my words."

Everything they've ever said is a statement against the idea of anything beyond this game. I will regret nothing I said if something is coming, but I will be happy.
Of course it is going to help sales (if a trolling excerise), everyone is going to want to play the game that duped thousands and thousands of fans.

Oh man, I can't even describe how hysterically happy I would be if BioWare fixed this.

Idc how. They can explain it away as some kind of convoluted plan (if it is or isn't), they can fess up and take the blame, they can even charge me any two digit number for the patch or DLC. All would be forgiven and I would follow BioWare like a lapdog for years to come. (Not to mention I'd buy ME1 and play the ME series all the way through every summer for a decade)

But, as it stands now, I'm going to need a emergency induction port for all my drinking. *Cheers*

Wait....@masseffect physically linked trolololol?

Seriously?

Considering that several "mainstream" gaming sites are not grasping what is going on, is it such a surprise that bioware is misinterpreting the situation as well?

Seriously, they may be thinking that the entire situation is silly fan rage.  Impressive to be that clueless, but not impossible.

This wait for a BW statement is a killer.

This is the main thing getting me at the moment is the silence from Bioware HQ.

Surely they cant think that any of this is good for business?

It's all just company PR-speak. The ONLY thing you should take from anything they say is, "we can't talk directly about the brewing ****storm."

There going to show behind the scenes footage? Can I please request the footage where they are sitting around the table daring each other to come up with the worst possible ending?

Umm....with the current ME3 endings I'm not sure what they're thinking.

It's going to take more than amorphous tweets to fix this.

Unless we have to pay for an ending.

If this really was the plan all along, then I wouldn't hesitate to apologize to Bioware over and over. It was still misleading, but one part of it I can see is that it makes us choose a truly difficult outcome. Spare most in the galaxy at the cost of Shepard's life? Or save Shepard at the cost of the Geth and EDI.

I don't think we'll hear anything from Bioware at least until Monday, after Japan has had the entire weekend to play

User 4: "Are you holding something back, that could quell the large amount of frustration from the community, a tiny hint would be enough."
@masseffect: "Mike Gamble already said on his twitter, if the fans knew what was in store, the reaction would be different."

Great, I'm not sure what's in store, but something tells me it's going to involve another gouging. Did they remove the endings so they could sell them back to us later?
