I'm playing on Normal difficulty and I've come across a random encounter battle that I just can't win.  The enemies consist of about 10 or more darkspawn rangers (with bows) and a few shrieks.  Elven ranger allies are behind some barricades but they die quickly.  The problem is: collectively the rangers hammer each party member and their health depletes too quick for me to heal them.  In my party I have myself (warrior) my pet dog, Morrigan and Wynne.  I tried leading my party members to a spot where the rangers can't reach, but it's no use.

What strategy can I use to win this battle?

Use AOE attacks. Blizzard and fireball especially, as they will disable and damage the archers.

1 make sure you have your party healing themselves via the tactics area

2 group heal from your caster goes along way in this fight as well
