In Mordins Case (spoiler ALERT), to save him you need to save and do specific quests a certain way. Let Wrex die and then let Eve die (by not saving the data from his loyality mission in Mass Effect 2).

For Miranda, I am beginning to think it is something similar. Here is why:

I recently bought a new PC rig and have decided to re-play my Mass Effect 3. However, I am having problems with saving Miranda in Mass Effect 3.

On all my plays my Shepard is a male and I had a save with Mass Effect 1 and had different Mass Effect 2 endings.

I decided to play it three different ways. In Game 1, I have a game where I NEVER romanced Miranda and spoke to her three times, gave her the assets, and warned her about Kai Leng and quickly go to sanctuary and no matter how I deal with her dad she dies. She was loyal and not romanced in Mass Effect 2, and survived. I had a sae a few moments before the encountered and I tried all the options and even tried not doing the interupt and doing the interupt if I got it.

Likewise, on my second and third play thru I romanced her in Mass Effect 2 and told her I was interested still... I again spoke to her three times, gave her assets, and warned her about Kai Leng and quickly go to sanctuary and no matter how I deal with her dad she dies. I never broke up with this Miranda and never had any other relationships (except in Mass Effect 1 with Ashley but I broke it off with Ashley).


Lastly, my third play thru I did romance her in Mass Effect 2 and made sure she was loyal and survived. I then played Mass Effect 3 and broke it off and romanced someone else in Mass Effect 3 and I spoke to her three times, gave her assets, and warned her about Kai Leng and quickly go to sanctuary and no matter how I deal with her dad she dies.

She is the only squad member that I can not figure out how to keep alive. Worse of all, on the forums there are suggestions, which I have done, but she still keeps dying. So I want to post and try to figure out how to keep her alive. Can youall help with suggestions on why she is dying still?

My only theory is that there is some quest that has to be done a specific way in Mass Effect 1 and/or 2 that do not seem related that is effecting Miranda's life.  I played a mostly Paragon and mostly Renegade Mass Effect 2 saves that get imported.

I am really thinking there is a mission or quest that has to be end a specific way for her to live.  Or maybe someone, like Mordin, has to live or die for Miranda to make it.  Maybe it is in her loyality mission... maybe not.

You're certain she's loyal? Did you side with Jack during their spat in ME2 (because that will lose you her loyalty).

You spoke with her on the Citadel three times, yes? Once on the Docking Bay, once in the Spectre Office, one in the Apartment. Did you explore all dialog options or just basically tell her goodbye as soon as you were able? Did you have her meet Oriana in ME2?

It isn't that hard. If you romanced her in ME2, don't break up with her in ME3. Every time she asks to meet you, go meet her. And when she asks to use your Alliance resources, say yes.

I decided to play one more time with no romance options for Miranda and I will keep notes on how many times and when I read the dossier and give assets and see if this helps...

My Mass Effect 3 import is a PC import of Mass Effect 2 which also has an import of Mass Effect 1. It has the following information:


I am a male Shepard.
Origin: Colonist.
Reputation: War Hero.
class: Adept.

I did the following:

Saved Rachni Queen,
Rescumed Ashley Williams on Virmire,
Chose to save the Council,
Saved Maelon's data,
Kept Wrex alive on Virmire,
Chose to kill geth heretics,
Destroyed Collector's Base,
Survived the suicide mission with 12 squadmates,
Romanced Ashley Williams before ME 2,
Did not romance anyone in ME 2,
and some side notes:

I believe I did all the side quests of Mass Effect 2 and most or all in Mass Effect 1. I saved all the crew in Mass Effect 2, such as Kelley Chambers amd the two engineering people. I was mostly Paragon and saved Samara instead of Morinth.

As for the Jack and Miranda thing... I am NOT sure to be honest.  I did use that gibbed's editor and it appears she is loyal.  The only way i can remember if i sided with her instead of Jack is to play Mass Effect 2 again - which I may - to be safe

on a more serious note I have three playthroughs and have never had miranda romanced there are three conversations with her on the citadel (docks, spectre office, apartment) I am not sure if the docks conversation is necessary, but it can not hurt. Also I believe that if you have imported an ME2 playthrough with her romanced then you can not break up or she will die. Can not speak from experience as I have no playthroughs with her romanced (can't get past the "I'm perfect" line that she keeps spouting).

If you do that before meeting her in the Spectre Office, Shepard will warn her about Kai Leng.

Other than that, all you need to do is give her what she asks for.

I had her loyal, not in a relationship, warned her about Kai Leng, convinced father to let Oriana go - with these criteria I have not had Miranda die in any of 8 playthroughs.

She's lived in every single playthrough I've ever done. All you have to do is talk to her as much as is possible, and help her in every way you can. Also, she needs to be loyal from ME2. Isn't this in the Wiki?

Sorry, I am on summer break and was not thinking of people who had to work.  Back to school next week, just before Leviathan drops.  Although I will probably wait till the weekend and read the reviews before buying it anyway.

Ok, I genuinely think this is bugged now, since I've done exactly the same things with her in two playthroughs, with the same Shepard, and she lived in one and died in the other.

I talked to her every time, warned her about Leng, gave her access to the Alliance resources, even picked all the same dialogue choices (despite there beig oh so many to choose from...), and the first time she was fine, but the NG+ playthrough, dead.
