One could imagine simple asset check before launching the game could solve at least most blatant cheats like edited ini, no? Autoaim will most likely still be there, unfortunately, as it is usually run externally.

I don't see how autoaim really helps all that much in this though.  The big scary enemies aren't all headshot weak (banshee/brute were confirmed as no weakpoint IIRC, and atlas technically doesn't have any except spike damage)

ini checking is fine as long as they add options to change FOV into the game.

So upon reading this thread I have come to the conclusion that the Gold Match I was just in obviously had some sort of cheat going on because everyone was killing things with one shot. I assumed it was some kind of bug because my pistol killed a brute in one hit yet my SMG did basically no damage at all (understandable as it wouldn't hurt armour much anyway). I entered the game only half way through it but now I am worried because I might be punished because of someone's actions. That or it was really just a bug.

I know the smart thing to do would be to not post this and be silent but I have always prided myself on being honest to not only others but to myself and I don't feel right about receiving rewards without having earned them.

so true.... poor people dont realized they are getting dupped into spending money on worthless items.

Multiplayer DLC is nothing more than a money dump

Bioware has Strayed away from the core Masseffect Beliefs with this greedy attempt at getting rich on Multiplayer DLC anyways........Cheats is just more proof of how ill Prepared they are!...

Shouldnt have touched the stove.... its hot isnt it!

Nobody is forced to buy them. Valve do it in TF" and are hailed as the kings of gaming.

I am a huge ME fan, have spare MS points, and am enjoying the multiplayer. No way in hell would I pay for these packs. It's my choice.

If you remember the nicks, report themto Bioware.

Do that, their class(races too), weapons used and enemies fought. Some are logically explained, like a damage sniper rifle 10 + cloak + overload = one shot kill on Geth. Or it maybe because you are too slow to react. Dont take ur degraded gaming experience on not being able to kill fast enough. Its most likely the wrong class to be in that match. Infiltrators are the way to go and win but it takes patience and the desire to be shot at being a Krogan race or a Vangaurd in general because ur most likely gunna die in Gold.......

I've had a dozen or so matches online so far, and I haven't seen any cheating. Guess I'm just lucky.

Wow i was just in my first match ever where i saw this happening. I didn't think cheating in MP was possible but now i've seen it myself.

Here is what happened. I queued for a gold match and there were 4 of us that started. The first wave of cerberus started and i casted Overload on a Nemesis and it died instantly. I was like ok 3 of us are shooting at them so i am probably lucky to get the last shot. Then a Centurion comes and i cast Overload and its insta death.

I notice my ammo count is 999 on my predator. I was like WTF!? Here is a Screenshot if someone wants to check it out. http://dl.dropbox.co...1070686/999.jpg

Anyways one guy Anunafig was shooting Falcon rounds like it was a SMG, same with his Javelin taking down Atlases in 2 seconds. My Overload insta killed things, and i believe other teammates experienced the same effects. At wave 11 as we are running to the LZ Anunafig was shooting Missile Launchers one after another blasting everything.

It was pretty funny, and i thank him for the easy 70k credits but damn, that's messed up.

Well getting 600k credits at the end and something like 1 million xp did seem a bit odd to me. But as a Drell Adept I shouldn't be able to just fire 3 rounds of my pistol into a group of Brutes and see Simocrates [predator] Brute spam the screen. Unfortunately I cannot remember the nicknames of the players. A Mr Tweeky and Wil_of_God I think but cannot be sure.

I didn't read all the posts as I'm a bit lazy today but to anyone who said what harm is there in cheating in co-op well if someone has a weapon mowing down enemies left right and center before you can even pull the trigger then how are you supposed to participate? You don't play a game to stand around and watch someone else do it for you.

That said I'm glad to say I have never noticed anyone cheating so far which is a good thing but if I did I'd instantly leave the game. Cheaters are pathetic and if it were up to me I'd ban em from the game indefinatley. It shows zero respect for others so they should be shown none in return.

Personally I don't even like when people compete for the highest score in co-op they fall over each other for kills and constantly get in everyones way anoying the hell out of me and actually can cause problems missing the whoal point of cooperating! Your all there to help each other not compete that's what Call of Duty etc is for.

I won't read all the 11 pages either, but I can asure you that there's a lot of people cheating in gold rank. Today I played with another 3 persons and I'm sure the host had somekind of cheat to kill enemies easily, a cheat that being enabled, it's shared among all squad members. He ended the game with 125000 points, me second with 50000 and the rest similar numbers to mine. I don't know why there isn't anykind of cheat protection in Origin yet.

I actually like multiplayer on ps3, i just can't stand the glitches (i.e. credit points disappearing, not being able to purchase), players who quit mid game, and the "no mute" button. i think in game text chat would be a nice add.

Had ab issue of 1-hit-insta-kill. Everything that had no shields was dieing from 1 shot of any weapon or any skill (for example when i casted 'throw" at full hp Brute - it died). After Banshee's barriers went down she died of 1 Avenger shot as well. The game owner/leader was man called "SpaceKillerr" who played level 13 Asari Adept with Graal and Falcon (sick!). I hope i wont get banned becouse of participating in that odd match.

This one lobby i was in, a guy asked me if I wanted to do this credit glitch with their team. Don't know if anyones heard of this but he said something like, the host leaves then comes back and it starts on the last wave or something. Usually when the host leaves, everyone gets kicked, so..the whole thing just sounded odd to me but i left the lobby.

Does this include modding the coalesced.ini file? I altered some elements there so I don't have to do all the tedious scanning on my second run, as well as altering the weight to cooldown ratio to be able to mess around with more guns at once in the campaign... Logged into the multiplayer a bit later without thinking too much about it, where to my horror I noticed that the weight alterations had made it into that part of the game as well.

Could just be the UI that displayed it, as I hope those things are handled on the server side, but it got me worried. I just restore the original .ini-file every time I play the multiplayer now, just to be safe from the ban hammer, but I'm curious.

Cheating only works if you are the host, in this case. I suggest having 2 coalesced ini files and renaming them depending on what youre going to do.

There's a "fairly" common cheat going around that gives more credits and experience than usual. A few people in this thread have mentioned it.

The one version I experienced had these characteristics:

Enemies acted normally (No one shots, no unlimited ammo, you could die)
Missions (Data Collection, Hacking, Kill List) had an unusual number of targets to download/kill.
- This meant that instead of killing 4 targets, the time limit reset after 4 and we killed another 4, and then another 4. Ditto with downloads.
The game obviously took a bit longer than normal (instead of a 25min silver match, it was something like 40 minutes)
~120k credits received
I can't remember the exact amount of experience gained, but it was alot, probably in the ballpark of 700k-1mil.

Regardless, this happened during the demo and I haven't seen it happen since. There have been a few instances during the retail game where I either felt like someone was cheating or the team had an advantage, but it always ended up being either someone really skilled (maybe an aimbot in a few instances) or a great combination of powers.

As far as Coalesced cheating goes, I haven't modded my own Coalesced but I do know for a fact that many of the multiplayer settings are stored client side. I'm not sure whether this includes credits or not but given that the game is primarily focused on single player, it's no wonder that people are able to modify game files in order to give themselves advantages in a MP setting which seems to have no server side authetication beyond very basic information.

Had three oddities in a MP match on White not long ago. The first was that enemies would sometimes spawn in the wrong locations (below the deck at the extraction point). The second is that most of the enemies would not move or attack until shot at, even in later waves. The first two could be explained by glitching or faulty AI. The fact that I watched one person walk from the Upper Level to the Launching Pad without dropping in height, then watched as he took out an Atlas from midair, made me think something hinky might be going on.

Interesting that someone already found "Fly" mode.

Thats a good idea. However why does that even factor into it. Why is the host the server side instead of the client side?

As for credit and XP alterations. I hope that this is a bug rather then a modified line in the ini file.:police:

Yeah, I hope that it was just effective in the UI, and not in the multiplayer client itself. Things like these are normally handled on the server side though, so if it's not, that is a major weakness that they may not even be able to patch properly.

I might send the crew a tweet about it later, asking for clarification.

My modded fov file has the same values for the vindicator in MP as when I choose update ME3 and it replaces with the original. Also the replacement from updating is showing modified on the 10th.

This modified FOV file was created on the 6th.
