Not sure how Bioware will answer- there are different kinds of "griefing".

Personally- I don't think you need to know.

As long as you're good, you don't need to know what they consider "griefing". I've found that it's pretty impossible for a person who's not trying to cheat / harm others' gameplay to actually be punished for it. So I'd rather they not give a clear-cut definition of it, just so actual "griefers" can skirt around it on purpose.

Fair enough I guess

I've got a question regarding hacks you've seen because I want to make sure I'm not just reporting someone who is good but didn't actually cheat.

I just wanted to do the obligatory Silver match for this weekend event and from the beginning on, I felt my Claymore packed quite a punch. (I mean even more than what is usual.) Then I noticed this:

Posted Image

The guy I'm talking about was using a Vorcha as well, only difference was that his Phalanx was even deadlier than my Claymore, which can be seen here: (he pretty much saturated the killfeed with it)

Posted Image

Last but not least, the scoreboard in wave 7 (after which I quit the game)

Posted Image

Me and another guy had an N7 around 800, one was well above 1k and then there was another dude with N7 ~100, I can't really remember which one was which, but their builds all looked just fine, so my question: Is this possible by skill and the Claymore thing was just lag or a glitch? Or is there only one explanation for it, i.e. that the guy cheated?

In cases of uncertainty you should e-mail me3mpcheaters@bioware.com - We investigate every possible case and do not reprimand players without concrete evidence.

This may just be my paranoid side acting up, but I was playing Silver on Xbox Live when someone yelled at my over the mic for cheating. I've never cheated in a game in my life, and I've never actually seen a cheater in this game, even with public lobby games. This person's argument was that my character, a Vorcha Sentinel, was doing too much damage to the enemies in the enemy faction (Cerberus). They also said they were going to report me. In truth, my character had 1. Bloodlust on, 2. A Cerberus Harrier Assault Rife with an extended barrel mod to increase damage and an armor piercing mod to get to those pesky armored targets, 3. Specced for power as well as some weapon damage. What my question is if a player can be banned for this kind of accusation? Can I be banned for using a completely OP custom made class?

In case you're wondering, Multiplayer Manifest is here: http://social.biowar...lay=multiplayer
I don't believe there's anything suspicous there. Unlike what I read earlier, no, I do not have 100 or so ammo packs or respec cards and whatever.

In case someone doesn't know about Hydra glitch, here you go.  Not sure if it counts as exploit, since line of sight leaves much to be desired, and there is only one point in going there - to get some cheap attention from your team.:)

Nah, you're in no danger.

The Bioware staff will never ban you without evidence of you actually cheating. Unless they look and see that you were doing damage not within the boundaries of the game- ie damage that wouldn't be possible, even WITH all the buffs you stacked yourself with using passive powers- you're not going to be banned.

Never saw the Hydra exploit before but since Blizzard did not ban players using wall mounts in battlegrounds then I can't see why BioWare should, they just need to patch it. Bottom line is in Battlegrounds people would climb in areas where others couldn't quite get to them unless they knew how... here everyone can get there.

In regards to cheating, big difference between someone racking up massive scores on Bronze/Silver and 1 shot killing mobs with a low level pistol... I am talking about boss mobs such as Atlas, Banshee etc not normal mobs.

I took my Engineer to test out some skills and weapons on bronze and ended up clearing it... all I wanted was a test for my weapons:) Depending on your setup you can destroy the scoreboards. Just because someone has a massive score doesn't mean they are cheating. Silver is so easy for anyone that has the right powers and weapons level X... seriously. I have seen many Vanguards on 60k scores whilst I was on 16k and the second highest on 25k sooo... and I was also at the top of the leader board with the rest 40k behind me. I just knew how to control the spawn points and was killing everything.

Example of someone that could have been cheating which I reported was a guy with an Avenger on GOLD killing everything... and I mean everything. I just sat next to him not doing anything and was just looking how his Avenger was taking out Atlases and Phantoms in 1 or 2 shots... on GOLD!!!!

I have promoted and respecced my characters quite a few times picking the best powers that would complement each other and other players I play with... just like in WoW or Diablo 3 where the difference between kicking a** and taking it in the a** is the set-up. Look for obvious stuff like reload times... 1 shotting big enemies, infinite ammo etc...

Why does his manifest look fishy?? Everytyhing you unlock is on luck... I spent quite a few $$ on BioWare Points to buy the 99k packs and unlock stuff.

Hmm I don't see anything wrong... what indication is teher that he is cheating? I can only see an indication that he is using his consumables all the time... something I don't do. Besides medigel and rocket I don't use anything. In Gold I sometiems use ammo and what not but even that I don't bother since you never know who you play with and can waste the consumables after 2 waves.

It could also mean that he is using his consumables and he has bad luck onw aves... after 1 they die. I once received 4 reset consumables in a row so go figure.

Am I cheating too?

Tell me if this guy (vlaras N7-20) is not cheating.  I have a N7 rating of +1100 and I don't have his weapons that high.

I think I will just start posting thier Name and picture of the gear here, along with an email telling them I reported them.

The best thing to do is to e-mail these types of things to me3mpcheaters@bioware.com - Trust me ;)

I'd like to comment on this.  It is perfectly possible to be level 20 and have those guns.  Character cards that level up the other classes don't take effect until he has customized at least one character from each of the other classes.  I too am a extremly low level and have nearly all my weapons at max.  What seperates this guy from others is his Geth Plasma Shotgun is at level VIII.  Somone who modded would have put that at level X.  This is just a guy who plays only as a Infiltrator and doesn't promote.

I've got no connection to BioWare, expcept liking their games. :D

That said, while I would not accuse anyone of being a Cheater based purely on their manifest, his certainly contains a few things that would be "red flags" in my mind if I were the one looking at questionable accounts.

He has all the UR weapons at level 10 (including those released only a week or two ago).
He has near maxed all his consumables, as well as ALL level 3 equipment.
He has 120+ Respec cards (which used to be Gold bordered Rares, when you could still collect more than 3 of them).

The fact that he's also doing this on the PC, which (plus or minus) is more accessible to hacks might also be a reason to look at the account more closely.

Ultimately I would like to think that BioWare looked at their records and determined that something was fishy in the face of real evidence, and not just the suposition we are making based on his manifest.

The single biggest "out of balance" to me is that his level 3 equipment is almost maxed, and he has almost no level 1 or 2 equipment.  I'd expect to see more random distribution of equipment (especially with so much maxed level 3).  If/when I max out my UR weapons, I'd probably start investing more in JEP which provide a more even distribution of equipment then his Manifest represented (to me at least).

I saw this in a couple of games I was hosting last night silver going for the challenge stuff. When I host I play my Asari Vanguard because... no lag, right, and a Talon w/ AP mod can do some serious damage. Well three in the room all is good. Someone comes in with a vorcha something, and the game starts lagging all over the place. I've got FIOS. That shouldn't happen. The lagging cause the three of us to wipe on wave 10. We look at the score and it's similar. Two people immediately voted to kick the guy, and he leaves.

Next game same thing happens. Either something is glitching with the vorcha or has a horrible connection. but the score looks like this, too.

Next game we get a normal match and it goes to finish and everyone is within like 2000 pts. of each other.

But then the next match, this person is in the room was doing insane. Played two matches. Next match I paired with them just to watch. There was no lagging. They were just that damned good.

I think when watching for cheaters is when someone enters a room that has been behaving normally, then it starts lagging like hell and they get a super high score. That's what XBox hardware folks told me anyway. Sometimes people have modded their XBoxes. Controllers are another matter, and I'm sure people have figured out mods for those for this game as well. I know you can get them for CoD and Gears.

I'm not the greatest player in the world and usually pull up the bottom two ranks (25-50 assists + 25 - 50 kills and not much else) unless I'm playing an engineer but still having someone there to slap a stasis on a phantom does not hurt.

For the record, Blizzard is about to begin their wave of bans on Diablo III. That is how a AAA developer handles bans, not by waiting for 3 months after release.

BioWare is aware of the cheating that is occurring in multiplayer. We believe our multiplayer mode is a valuable addition for our fans, and we hope you are having just as much fun as we are while playing co-op with
your friends.

For our fans, we acknowledge that some people are cheating. We are actively monitoring server logs since the Demo of Mass Effect 3 and when we find obvious signs of cheating, we are acting against those individuals. Our focus is to remove the type of cheating that is detrimental to the honest fans.

To some of you, it may appear that we are not doing anything against the cheaters. This is not true. However, we are being careful to ensure that the individuals flagged as cheaters are clearly and repeatedly cheating. We do not want to act against honest people.

If you feel your experience has been affected by playing with a cheater, please send us a message at me3mpcheaters@bioware.com. Please also add the Origin ID/Gamertag/PSN ID of the supposed cheater
along with the time of your match(es) with him and why you think this user has been cheating.

If you feel you have been reprimanded incorrectly or wish to appeal any action against your account please send us a message at me3accountadmin@bioware.com.

We appreciate you help and patience with this matter.

ohhhh nooooo did someone figure out how to get credits without doing anything, oh geez please fix that soon because that'll totally effect the gameplay experience for us..........lol if someone is cheating in a CO-OP game against BOTS it aint hurting anyone unless ya'll are scared people wont shell out real actual money for mp packs, yeah lets totally narc on other players that arent doing anything to other players and certainly not hurting the bots feelings.

Most of my cheating reports ever filed on 360 were on GTA for guys in God mode and Flying cars unlimited rockets or Modded levels and cars where they cannot be damaged. But GtA is competitive so its to be expected however a gun someone has gotten that helps my mission and makes it easier for me to complete mission quicker ? Why would i report him its co-op unless he is trolling and killing everything then it would be an obvious report due to the spam nature. Also @Bioware or anyone who knows what is Griefing in the cheating explanation at Tier three offenses?
