The only form of "cheating" that could be of any harm to the players is having Idlers standing around and gaining XP/Credits they did nothing to earn. Otherwise there is nothing that is overly harmful to ME3's MP going on.

Usually I would rage if knowing if someone was using something such as illegal console mods to get an edge, but since there is no PVP, nor will there ever be any if Bioware hasnt made another attempt to make misleading comments, I see no harm in even those being used.

Disclaimer: I do not in any circumstance advocate the use of mods or any other means of cheating in any video game and those that wish to use them should do so knowing they are at risk of having their console banned if caught.

TL:DR

Cheating in multiplayer hurts nothing but leaderboard status. 

Sure others cheat on multiplayer but it's not like it can negatively effect you.

Fail on the part of EA. I can think of another 6 games to make out of this series.

Well I personally run into a cheater once or twice, and the cheats which annoy me are the ones which modify weapons or ammo load so that he could score a lot with a slow recharging weapon and infinite bullets...another weird thing which happened to me is that when i was scoring a lot and killing lots of mobs some jealous player (cheater) shoot me something like a rocket or grenade and i actually got HURT Oo (it happened to me twice so i think its either a lag delay from mobs or they actually cheated to be able to hit a coop companion)

Encountered a person who modified their coalesced file, whenever we shot a enemy or hit an enemy the enemy instantly died, left as soon as I realized this. Hope I don't get the ban hammer.

So I've read through with search enabled on this thread, but haven't found a clear answer on how/what they call as explicit cheating.

I'm using a modified coalesced.bin for cosmetic purposes on SP (removed helmets from full-body armors). Can that flag me on MP for possible cheating due to different checksums? Obviously it doesn't constitute as cheating, but unless there's a good way to filter out false alarms, it can still be a pain in the arse for BW to investigate these changes so I might just revert them.

Imagine a player in your team who is invulnerable, has unlimited ammo and rockets and is rushing through the waves. Would you consider it fun enough to watch him?

Many years ago I witnessed a cheater in counterstrike who was in my team. He was teleporting from one enemy to the next and killing them within a second. Doesn't make much sense to play such a game.

Because for denounce him i need probes, and dont know exactly who was the host at first time, because other player was using the falcon (a weapon with low amount magazines).. and at the first time i think was he the cheater for the infinite ammo.. and with the ammo image, with the multikills in arrow with the phalanx and the final score of the match with his level.. the devs have probes enought to ban him inmedatly...

In this cases need probes, like screenshots or videos to take care that the cheater would be banned for sure.. because in most of the online games u need screenshot at last for denounce someone of cheating or u will be banned instead the cheater 

1 Round would be sufficient toget the proof. Why then stay the entire time?


My thing here, is, so this guy cheated,he hosted it, you didn't HAVE to stay, he wasn't hurting you, or anyone else. You have the power to leave at any time. Why is it so many people are worried about what everyone else is doing, and not about what they are doing. Did you spend those credits you got from that match? I hope not, then you would have gotten proof that he was cheating and then turned around and spent the money you got from the cheater.

I think I joined a guy who was cheating because now I have 255 incendiary rounds of each level! And now I can't use my missiles, medi-gel and the other thing on the left d-pad.

Oh yeah EA/Bioware don't ban me, I heard some other guys got banned because they were in cheating lobby too.

In Spain we have a said than says "Los ladrones creen que todos son de su misma condicion", means The thiefes thinks than all are of the same condition... so if u think im taking profit from the cheaters... well u are telling that in the same condition u are going to make the same? 

Make a favor and dont bother who is taking probes to denounce cheaters

If i leave the match in the first wave i cannot take the screenshots of he killing 2 geth primes in a row (a couple of times) with the phalanx, in gold the primes dont appear on the first wave.. 

I can think that u are a cheater, because u are attacking me for taking probes about that guy..

I would advise you to edit your post to be less inflamatory before a mod finds it and bans you.

Managed to play in 2 cheated lobbies out of 5 games. Was surprised when my Vindicator rifle brought down five enemies in a single burst. The second one just had unlimited ammo(999 and replenished after every reload).
Both hosts got kicked within a few minutes though.

AgamenonAtreides.. I'm not attacking you, nor do I condone cheating, but at the same time, it's the way those folks play, it is co-op play, so they aren't hurting anyone but themselves. Most of them are kids dude, I loved to cheat when I was a kid as well. I'm just saying, so many people are upset, or mad, either enjoy the match and watch them blow stuff up quick or leave. It's all good either way.

Inevil, the problem of cheat on coop mode, or at last in the coop mode of Me3 is that i can't play fairly because i was unable to revive, to shot my weapon without reload after 2 shots and the waste of the equipement and the 2 rocket launchers i tried to use.

And i´m not the only who says the same as me, dont remember if is in this thread or in other were another player got the same issues than me in his match.

Anyway i hope there are no problem between us about this thread

The only cheater I've come across so far was an invulnerable leecher.

I left the match as soon as I realized what was going on. In my hurry I forgot to write down their name, but I won't make that mistake again.

If you want 3rd person PVP, play Gears and enjoy all the stupidity of PVP.  Co-op is the future - no more agry 12 year olds, no more n00b-calling, and no more whining about being "broken."

Co-op forever.  I'd rather join my friends to fight someone who isn't going to use some cheap trick, or **** and complain when you snipe them.

I think i just had a first game with a cheater.
I couldn't resuply ammo and i think other guys had the same problem, or at least one or two of them. There might have been some shooting in the end which is strange since everyone should be depleted.
We also couldn't take any damage. Actually, shields were normal but hp was infinite. We were boxing geth to our victory.
The first part hardly sounds like cheating
Now that i saw this, i am really disappointed. This guy made a mistake and created a public match (or joined a public match), but not everyone will do that. Cheaters can basicly go solo and noone will be able to report them. If played correct, you can cheat and remain undetected.
I know it doesn't hurt me and my game (i don't even care about leaderborad so it doesn't even touch me at all), but it is just wrong.

I actually prefer multiplayer co-op as well but occasionally i can imagine playing couple of PVP rounds as an infiltrator and it looks fun... at least in my imagination.

Back on a subject however - i never cared about leaderboards and if i could cheat, and hack resources or levels, i would've done so but only in PVE. Anything should be fine when you play against AI, in my opinion.

EA/Bioware need to make a better system to get rid of the hackers. Dice manages it in BF3, just ask them.
