I keep going back and forth.  Don't want to pass up chests so a Rogue is necessary.  Question is what is better, 2 - Fighters or 2 Mages?  Having 2 rogues would not be good I think.

1 - Alistar (Tank), Me Zerker (DPS), Leliana (DPS/Archer), Wynne (Healer)
2 - Alistar (Tank), Shale, Me (Assasin),  Morrigan (DPS/Healer)
3 - Alistar (Tank), Dog, Me (Mage/DPS), Wynne (Healer)
4 - Me (Tank/Templar), Leliana (rogue), Morrigan (DPS/Healer), Wynne (Healer)

This setup also gives me Warrior, Rogue, 2x Mage.

Ill take the ranger specialization, and give Morrigan some shapeshifting in case my tank needs backup.

I'll be playing a melee-oriented dwarf rogue first and I'll probably take Oghren, Morrigan and an undecided fourth member. Maybe Zevran or Sten. We'll be Team Badguy.

I love how everyone is talking about party make up like it's an MMO with only like 10 people playing it. Not bashing or anything, I just found it amusing.



But I'll play along to... I'm planning on making my PC a tank of sorts, as for who else will be in my party, I haven't really read up on what they all can do, and did little in DA: Journeys. So I'll figure that out on my first play through.

Right now, I'm aiming at the following for my party:



Myself: Rogue. Pure Rogue with only maybe a point or two of dual wielding. May be going Assassin, but depends what I unlock.



Shale: This depends, but I'm hoping Shale can serve as a tank. If he can't, I'll probably swap out for Alistaire.



Morrigan: My damage dealer. Hoping for lots of fiery explosions and the like.



Wynne: Healer, of course.



This, of course, may all change depending how things go in the game. I'll definitely be trying out different configurations. Like, going without a healer to add in Dog, or maybe swapping out Morrigan if her sarcasm gets on my nerves too much.

Well my party will all depend on how effectively Alistair can tank as an NPC/AI. Will he taunt and engage in combat first without me having to micromanage him? If so then, my party will be as follows:



Alistair - Tank

Me - Rogue

Morrigan - DPS Mage

Wynne - Healing/Buff Mage

Isnt there a party limit of 4? So if your thinking of using all of these u named now, 1 will be left out Im afraid.

On normal difficulty, you'll probably want 2 warriors. On higher difficulties, 2 mages.

I thought it was 4 plus the pc (total of 5).  Rats!  I'll have to rethink this one.

First time? Rogue PC, Leilana, Dog and Wynne.

I plan on mixing stuff up a bit - want to get an idea of whom my character likes and how they play before rushing into combat. I'll probably swap characters around as well depending upon who I find working for a particular dungeon (most influence checks in bioware games are quest related, not dungeon-crawling related).



If I were going to do a playthrough with a consistent party, it would be:



Male City Elf Rogue, Alistair, Sten, Morrigan. My favorite character build, but I don't like that I'll be pushed into romancing Morrigan (don't want to start out the gate with a two-rogue party). We'll see how it turns out.



Female Noble Dwarf Warrior, Alistair, Wynne, Liliana. The goody-two-shoes party. I do sort of wonder how I'll RP a dwarf working so closely with chantry folks - have to wait and see. I'll flirt with Alistair a bit, but I'm going for Liliana.



Male Human Mage, Morrigan, Zevran, Shale. The not quite evil but self-serving PC. He'll probably be attracted to Morrigan, but pushed away by her manipulative nature (as he himself is manipulative) only to fall into Zevran's clutches.



Male Dalish Elf Warrior, Dog, Oghren, (?) - I really want to play a ranged warrior at some point, and the game doesn't give you any. I think it would be cool to have him have a close bond with Dog due to the whole nature aspect. I don't care much about romance with this run through - I'll probably skip it unless I find a way to trigger one without having the romancable in the party. Last slot is hard to fill - probably go to which ever non-warrior NPC I enjoyed the company of the most.



I'll powergame the hell out of my character creation, but I want to roleplay the party. Heh.
