I agree. Breaking the lock would be awesome. I don't think you need to break the items though. Maybe potions but weapons and armor. That doesn't make sense.
Open chests and other containers with force!

I just think it's unrealistic no no one else may have learned to pick locks. It is still just generic rogue in fantasy. Lockpicking should have been a skill not a talent, and then anyone could have specialized in it. But because of rogues getting skills every two levels (as opposed to other classes 3) they would still be more likely to take it while others focused on poisons, traps, potions. But this way anyone could theoretically take it.
